Sweet Berries

Wrote a review for

It's supposed to be a very sweet story and even though it almost is the main character ruined it for me.

  • An overly horny main character that might have been an attempt at sexual freedom but instead came off as unstable. Many times she refers to her status as "too horny to think" and this becomes true, not only from the things she does mostly because all she seems to think about is explicit sexual anything.
  • Side characters seem to follow the FMC's lead and only think and talk about sex. Who is considered best friends only seem to be helping pressure the main character along to "get some". And others are used as objects for the main character to keep feeling the way she does the whole time.
  • The fact this was a single POV, to me really kept me from enjoying it even in the sweeter moments. It did have very sweet moments but I no longer enjoyed it because of Grace.

I actually felt like DNF'ing the book during the first part but still chose to give it a chance.

Claimed by the Rockstars: Part Two

Wrote a review for

A good continuation with good news after. (Jamie and Orion are getting a book!!)

  • The relationships, this became a bit of a weird point for me in this book, we had mostly setup in the previous part however for the second part I feel we kind of stalled on most of them. There are 4 people in this relationship but it didn't quite feel like that for me, except for a few scenes, for the majority of the time we focus on rehabilitating Rex's issues, the interactions and his trauma. For me this means we mostly spent time with him and Bells who was helping him along, leaving Phoenix and Rafael feeling like secondary characters in their own romance.
  • Bells is still an interesting character and even if I didn't feel a lot of character growth from her I always enjoy the slightly unhinged answers and reactions she has.
  • As for the conflict, I liked it, there was some tension before the big blowout and the actual end of it was satisfying enough, not too easy or rushed since it didn't only happen in the last few chapters of the book.

This was a good experience in my opinion.

Claimed by the Rockstars: Part One

Wrote a review for

A great setup book.

  • This follows the same world as the whole series however as most of the others characters don't intersect, at most they might be mentioned. This usually comes accompanied by some minor side characters that make me interested about their story but don't really feature in the next ones. (Jamie and Orion I'm thinking of you)
  • Our FMC is an interesting character, very traumatized and scared but still reacts different from usual expectations, this I am a big fan of.
  • As for the MMC's, they felt easily distinguishable;
    • There is a jerk that takes some convincing for me to like, and I'm still not totally sure but we're getting there. This comes with some side of sad backstory that got me quite emotional a few times.
    • Golden retriever type, to balance out the moodiness of the FMC and the above mentioned jerk.
    • And one that we're still finding out about but that falls somewhere between the other two.
  • Conflict was very well defined here, we had some extra issues regarding character but we also had an overarching enemy that played up the paranoia and future issues for part 2. Given I found it somewhat predictable the fact the identity of the bad guy is revealed to us, readers, at the end of the book was very satisfying.
  • The pacing was quite slow on the relationship side which I very much appreciate, this built a lot more actual involvement between the characters in a genre (omegaverse) that has a tendency to be quite fast-paced.

This was a very enjoyable read with likeable characters and some good emotional moments.

Looking For It

Wrote a review for

Not good.

  • The writing was fine even if some dialog made me almost dizzy from the jumps in topics, but that was on purpose.
  • Conflict was almost non existent, the real issue was mostly just character based.
  • Said that it was gaming themed but didn't really involve it enough to matter, could as well have been anything else.
  • For me the real issue was the characters. The FMC had her issues and the MMC's helped her, but when they first get together they decide to say nothing of their intentions when the FMC says it's "just casual". After that when honesty finally comes into play the MMC's use guilt, manipulation and just overal ass behavior to get her to think it's all her fault and issue and try to convince her to do what they want.

In conclusion....MMC's could die for all I care.

Married to my Grumpy Minotaur Boss: a steamy monster office romance

Wrote a review for

Some beliefs are not in line with mine...

  • The pacing starts out as medium, it takes a while for them to get together but once they do everything just goes much much faster. At around 65% time starts flying, including some months jump that is never specified.
  • This reads as less of a monster romance and more of a billionaire boss romance. Not what I expected and removes most of the meaning of him being a minotaur.
  • Might be a bit rant like but... They participate on a show about being married but it's not real, neither the show nor the marriage so why do people just take it that they were married? Why do they suddenly have to be super serious because they were "married"? Also, why is it that apparently they feel like they can't date if they're not getting married?
  • I did not like that the FMC has a line after they have a talk about being exclusive but not dating, just being lovers, why would she just end with the thought that people change their minds with time?!?

For the last 30% of the book I could not enjoy it, it became a weird beliefs stop the from going forward sort of situation, without the miscommunication trope even...

The Dragon's Bride

Wrote a review for

Sweet and short on the spice.

  • The world sounded interesting but we didn't have much time to develop it properly. Probably more in the next books but with the structure here we might not get too much more.
  • Mostly this was about them building a relationship but in a fast-pace (of course given the size of the book). This means we didn't really have much conflict just them having a hard time communicating their feelings.

It was a fun read with not too many complications.

Finding the Forward, Part Two

Wrote a review for

Not really surprising but tied most things up nicely.

  • Predictable conflict that somehow extended the whole book while not maintaining tension. We heard about the issues and then forgot and later remembered again just in time for the conclusion of them.
  • We had some sweet moments and some funny ones but we also had a lot of smut at weird moments being justified by instinct, hormones or the like.
  • Verity had some growth from the last book but nothing too intense, mostly her arc was just getting together with the guys on a more permanent basis.
  • The guys,
    • Grif still has some of the spotlight in this, mostly because part of the problems come from his secret, the worry of how people are gonna take it, the actual coming out and all the anxieties associated with it.
    • Dean is still not very present, he's not the source of issues or strife and just overall seemed to have a sunny disposition.
    • Jonas still takes care of everybody and tries to keep peace and order in the relationships, this still while getting together with Verity and sharing everyone's time.
    • AJ, for the majority of this book he seems to have gotten over his issues and making a good effort, helping Verity and Mercy and trying to be a voice of reason. This came crashing down around the last quarter of the book. I don't have to like all dynamics and topics used in a book but obviously that impacts my reading experience, since he had the most interactions that don't match my taste I already felt apprehensive of his character but once we hit the Heat scene I almost dropped the book. He felt like the initial impression I had of his character, childish, self-centered and selfish. Even if this was solved fast it still made him a character I didn't enjoy.
  • The pacing of this series was overall more consistent than the Into the Parallel Omegaverse, but some of the gymnastics still made very little sense. At least by that point we didn't go too in depth on those details.

An ok series, with a slightly different take on the a/b/o genre and a whole lot of what I might call experimentally varied sexual content.

Finding the Forward, Part One

Wrote a review for

A very calm read.

  • This is the same world from this author's other series, Into the Parallel Omegaverse, this time we follow different characters in a different type of situation but we still see some of the characters from the other series.
  • I feel the pacing on this book was better and so was the more technical topics, this probably because we have a lot less of them.
  • The FMC was a character that we met in the previous series, she was already someone we liked and here we just built on top of what we knew, however when we get deeper into her personality I found she lost some of the charm. She came off as confident and responsible but overworked and charged with too many responsibilities but in this book her confidence faded and instead she was just lost, I think this was meant to be because of something that happened right at the beginning of this book but she seemed to get worse as the story progressed. I still enjoyed her but it didn't feel like the same character.
  • When it comes to the MMC's,
    • Grif, the man she met in a plane and stayed obsessed with until they found each other. He was sweet and his arc seems to be left a lot for the next book even though he feels like the main guy since he was the point of contact.
    • Dean, just an overall nice character that didn't cause problems and should have more page time in my opinion.
    • Jonas, the responsible one who takes care of them and accepted and understood the situation after a brief background check.
    • AJ, the guy who started out as an insufferable child but then got redeemed and over his issues in one talk. This came as a good thing because even though I kinda hated him his shift was a good one, even if he doesn't get too much page time.
  • The conflict here suffers from the same as the previous series, there is very little of it. We have the overall secret that will probably cause some problems in the next book, some mildly foreshadowed problems that will also feature in the next book given the cliffhanger stopped there, and the same type of relationship doubts from the previous series.

In conclusion, it was a somewhat calm book with some nice emotional moments that still feels like an introduction. (at least this is a part one!)
