A continuation that honestly became a little underwhelming.
- We pick up right where we left the last book. With the reemergence of issues that made this feel a bit repetitive right from the start.
- The characters don't feel like they evolved much from one book to the next making it honestly feel like these two parts should be only one book put together. But honestly they were the highlight of this series.
- We get introduced to more problems with bigger consequences that impact the whole society of this book (that honestly felt a little close to home). These were bigger issues than the previous ones but given this is the hopeful start of a series they did not get solved, so they only served to make the bleak situations in this world feel unsurmountable and frustrating.
Overall, I felt underwhelmed with this, because the issues from the first book were mostly resolved right at the start of this one and then we had to wait until almost the end to see the culmination of the others, this felt like it really went nowhere.
