Dream Mates

We pick up right where we left it.

  • The cliffhanger at the end of the last book is solved fairly quickly, giving us one less conflict all the while dropping some slight hints of what's to come. This part almost finished the whole interdimensional travel plot bit, since it just lost some of the weight in the story at that point.
  • We learn about more designations (even some I'd never heard about) each with their own lore. And we get some more scientific involvement that for me were much better written about in this one.
  • When it comes to the characters, we do spend some more time with other MMC's that weren't as prominent the previous book. However we still seem to develop the relationship's one at a time, last book was Evan and Wes (since they are together), this one is Spencer (who was alone), so I'm guessing next will be Brennan and Jett (who are also a pair).
  • The conflict is still one of the weakest points of the book for me, we have a few interesting issues popping up but it does seem to lack an overall bigger problem or antagonist. This not to say we don't have some confrontations with other characters, some that weren't in the same type of role last book (like Brennan's mother), and some new ones that just appeared out of nowhere to explain some mysteries left undiscovered from last book.
  • I still find some of the pacing odd but it felt a lot more cohesive this time around.

This ending still had a little cliffhanger but not as intense as the last one, however the story has grabbed my attention and kept it so I'll keep going gladly.
