I have a weird relationship with JV because I like the team even when it was 5280 and I am from Denver so it came up as a pro as I was getting in to pro cycling and it will always be my favorite team but JV is polarizing and he says so himself.
I thought he shouldn't read his audiobook because he isn't the best reader but, it helps you understand him more i guess. I waited 5 years before reading it on purpose.
this book is insane and should be like 3 books? He is such a great writer and so confusing. cool about the new orleans stuff. not sure if I will read the #2 about his sister- that whole bit was confusing too. Audibook narrators killed it though!

A lot of the reviews here are saying how uncomfortable this is. Race shouldn't be uncomfortable and we will never achieve racial equality sadly. Maybe books like this will put perspective in new hands... Ending was kinda crap.
As a New Orleanian, I am partially convinced this book was funded by Mobile Mardi Gras Society or the Alabama Tourism Board to bring awareness to Mardi Gras origins in Mobile, but New Orleans does it bigger, longer and well better.
