I've been stalling not to read this book for quite a way even though I have been waiting what seems like forever to read this book. I just didn't want to read the end of one of my favorite series, and because I knew that Violet had changed..... and that she changed like I had so I didn't really want it to go bad(not that I really believed that Jessica Shirvington could make this series go wrong)what I mean is that I didn't really want to feel for a book too much again. Seems like for the past 6 months I have been drifting from feeling waaaaayyyy to closely to the characters of any book and feeling nothing at all. I just couldn't deal with any of the results so I didn't read for a looonnngg time. And even though that hurt me I kept telling myself that was better than getting attached or too hurt, or reading something and trying to commit myself to a book even though I know my heart wasn't there to enjoy it. I knew from the first page and chapter that I tried many times to restart my reading attraction that I wouldn't like it till a couple of chapters later. I didn't want to skim or skip chapters so I was always losing the battle in my mind. Violet's situation is close enough to my situation that I understand her emotions, reasoning, strategy thinking, and personality. Course main difference between Violet and I is that I loooooovvvveee Phoenix more and would have picked him over Lincoln X3. So as u can all guess I didn't really want to find out whether or not Violet was right to leave or not just cuz it might have something to do with my life. Nonetheless one day I got up the courage to read it only for a third of the book but I just couldn't stop afterwards XD. SO many funny scenes and characters that I have missed far tooo much to let my reality come creep up on this. I honestly loved it and would like another series for Phoenix. PRETTY PLEASE>.<. yes i know this isn a serious review that because im writing down my basic ideas for the before try to crash and sleep. usually pull an all nighter fo ra book is one of them problem always review. will update when wake up.>
I liked it and I hated it. I hated the religion parts of the book but I loved the idea of soo many different cultures and their god or goddesses being -for lack of better term right now- real in this book. All of the gods and goddesses in this book seemed real in this realm Jacqueline Carey has created for us. The gods and goddesses had their own wishes, gifts, curses, and what pleasantly surprised me was the part where Moirin wisely thought that mankind was the one who puts their own crazy and wrong wishes and add them up with their religion. I admit it I skimmed sooooo many parts and pages, it even seemed like I skimmed between chapters of this book. Course I was reading the first sentence and the last sentence of every page testing and seeing if I wanted to read that page. I don't regret my choice. Course this is because I don't have any good memories of religion and when this book reached to when Moirin got captured and finding out that it was sooo veeeerrrrryyy similar to Christanity I nearly puked and decided not to finish the book. I'm glad I resisted and finished the book :). There are jokes and funny parts and some wisdom later on. Its not all bad. Now when I say bad I mean that in my own tortured soul opinion preference kind-whatever bad, not because it was bad. Jacqueline Carey described many of the religions quite well and true. I can't wait to read more of this series.
Scent of Magic is really a confusing book for me. Sometimes I really liked it, the action, the surprises and switching back and forth from different POVs man that really is the best for me. HOWEVER other times I really annoyed with some of the characters I wanted to shake the book shouting “WHY DID U DO THAT”, “WHY DID U DO THIS TO ME”, or somewhere along the lines “NO,NO,NO STOOOOOPPP!!!” Everything in the book seemed to be moving incredibly at a fast past of course usually in 2 different POV books they tend to do that although this time it seemed like to me there was a new scene, new surroundings, starts to talk about that scene, you get interested, then some kind of problem appears, you read about some of the character's feelings, and then BAM there's a punch line sentence and WHOOSH you're off to the next chapter with the other character. I was mentally climbing a mountain throughout this book. Still a good read to me though :).
one of those books that totally likes to surprise you with tiny hits of what's going on at the end of the chapter with flashbacks XD don't u just love when ur heart tops and prepares for the suspense? anyways this Is one of those books that are funny, action filled, filled with amazing characters u just gotta love and a little sometimes dumb main character. those books that makes u grin from the middle tl the wonderful end and makes u feel like it seeing off a friend who just started a relationship aka in ur mind a totally happy ending and that grin stars in ur soul and face for those amazing moments u read the book
Well I have totally mixed feelings about this book but overall I really enjoyed this book. inspiring, heartwarming but not life changing amazing crazy insane fall in love book, u know? honest and cynical basically a teenagers and of course u need to add the ingredients of trouble, being lost, conflicted, drama, and wonderfully sometimes jerk faced characters. let's me see a little bit better who is actually my close friends and who is not. and when I feel like a duff at certain situation whether it be things I do, how I act, my personality, beauty outside, or what I do daily.
To be honest it was the most interesting heart felt, love story in the world. Didnt even have a lot of actions where vamps battled. Don't get me wrong it's interesting in a romantic drama and u know life catches u by surprise what are u going to do sort of way. Where u can understand the character's turmoil and emotions at a basic level but nothing really deep that tugs ur heart strings. Here begins the spoilers. So remember in the previous book we discovered the reason for shana's psychic abilities and how it was tied to her father's team of CIA psychic resistance hell bent on killing “evil vampires”. Well this is about one of them and his name is Austin. This story is also about another side character from the previous book, Darcy one of the vampires at Shana's husbands ex harem. Darcy is finally free and now is searching for a job that can support her new lifestyle she is struggle to live with in the vampire world. Darcy is hired to do the worlds first reality vampire tv show and the title is something along the line of the world's sexiest man. Remember when I said Shana's HUSBAND ex harem well~ she's getting married! And guess who's totally not invited, yup her fixed minded daddy and his team. Oohhhh what's he going to do? why of course to enter mortals into the show to win the Ex harm and a few million buck and the added title of Sexiest man in the world. So this book isn't that serious. It was still fun read to me. Now I noticed a lot of ppl on goodreads didn't like how Darcy treating Conner so I will explain why and it will also explain why I like this book. Beware it contains many spoilers just go read the book would ya, I don't want to spoil a perfect good book u can read urself. So as I was saying. Conner. I like Conner and I get why Darcy irrational and rational anger toward him is unforgiving. Conner didn't give her a choice. No matter the intention of trying to safe her Conner still stole away her living a normal life that she knew of her whole life. With her family. Out in the sun with her friends and a job Onto a world that could Only lived at nights and in secret. Darcy wasn't prepared for the vampire world she didnt want it even if it could save her life. Darcy needed a reason and did have one that was slightly mislead, to hate Conner. Darcy was a fighter for women and believed in fighting for herself however the vampire world was stuck in the oldern times and didnt like, support, and allow those beliefs. Not only was Darcy forced into a world she didnt know existed, one that is completely different from hers, it was one that rejected her true self. She couldn't fit in. No matter how much Darcy wants things to be different she has to live with it so does Conner, with what his actions caused. Conner has to live with Darcy's decisions just like Conner has to live with Darcy's they may not like it but if they want be peace they are going to have to
Live with each other with whatever choice they make. I can relate to Darcy in a human way( I can't possibly be a vampire now can I XP) I was forced to move many times in my childhood life. Like as in every two years. Most of them from state to state. I didn't like moving but I hated it when I was ripped apart from a life that I had finally like, had friends, felt like I belonged in, and had control over. Then it was game over and move on to L.A. L.A couldn't be more different than peace nature loving Orlando. I wasn't accept in L.A and didnt understand their ways. Now I'm at the point where I know and accept most of the time that I don't belong in either fully. So until I find my rainbow castle and place where I belong I have to find the best of both states and try to live with that. This is not a review that is complete and I will edit once I get access back to my computer In L.A. I'm in Orlando currently :3
I watched the movie before i read the book. And well i got to admit i hate, hate, hate classics and fairytales books that has been written in the old way(no offense to all those ppl out there who loves those kinds, just that its my taste-for-books so i cant really change it).So i totally loooooveed how Beastly was written with today's time period including a group chat for changed beings! Kyle is such a big jerk, i mean in the movie he was one too but not as much of one as in the book. Therefore he was such a big jerk that i didnt want to like him(but i still wanted to finish the book) although i did see him change from the sad, dark, angry guy that has no hope and has nothing to do but look at ppl and observe them from a window to a guy who yell “Will! Rise and Shine! Time to instill knowledge!” All of his thoughts about classic books made me smile. On page 142, Kyle had thought “I didnt even mind the thorns. All living things needed protection.” im like God, a guy character that thinks that and actually likes flowers.... Sighs*(starting to feel faint a little XP).
AT page 151 Kyle had thought “I wanted him to pee in his pants in fear” for his roses got hurt; i laughed and warmed up to him and then exclaimed out loud “Why am i falling for this jerk!?!?!?!
When he said he almost skipped and followed up with one word:Linda, at page 154, i went OMG O__O cant believe he changed sooo much but aww i would love to see that happen :).
The things he was doing for Linda were soooo cute. Sure his intentions were not that completely pure but hey its still a very kind action.
But what kind of scared me was at page 176 when he said he read the same book Linda would..... Omg kind of stalkerish.... The watching her part didnt really creep me out but somehow that did. But in the next sentence that made me go from feeling a little creeped out to awwww thats sooo cute when he said that “I stayed up late into the night reading, to keep up with her.”
THats soooooo sweeet.
On page 181 i went again;OMG, due to the fact that Adrain(Kyles transformed and better self)about yellow roses symoblizing purity and wants that to change into red roses for romance. A guy who actually knows the meaning and want it to change. I should totally faint or swoon now. Yeah i fell for him at that moment.
Page 192 was my favorite page. i loved the whole page. from the beginning of when Linda saying that just because somebody is beautiful doesnt mean its good but something with inner beauty will live forever like the scent of a rose, to when Adrain wakes up the whole house to prep the perfect day for Linda's first arrival.
Very addicting.... Totally felt like i was being chocked by this book or by my reactions to this book. A very funny college book with a lot of drama. i barely could put down this book for a second. This book is like a whirlwind that will carry you away to an action-filled, mysterious, totally dramatic, humorous, sick to your stomach, intense book. And its not even a movie. oh, did i forget to mention that it looooooovvvveeessss to be suspenseful? and well it always loves drives the reader crazy.
I have warned you.
I tried to hate Quinn but I ended up liking him. XDD Sighs guess you cant stop these things. I think its better than Blood Feud. I thought without Solange's main enemies they would be without a plot and action . But boy was I dead wrong XDD I forgot about the Hel-Blar and the Helios-Ra.
From Pg.1 I was already hooked on by Hunter's humor, bluntness even though her she is a person who follows the rules, kind and not hard core about killing Vamps. It was a delight to read her displaying her skills and how strong she is to deal with anything. It was also fun to see Quinn change because of a girl which he thought couldn't happen since he is undoubtly a player.
Life is the bad
With all the good. We got this gift when we were bornWe can return it if we want to
But If u want to keep it
It wont be sweet all the time
That's why its called life
And what we do with it makes it ultimately our own.
For all the good and the bad its our lives no matter what happens to it.
All the good that happen to me is mine alone, only to be mixed in it is all the bad; nobody can have my life and I cant have theirs. If I took theirs I would cave in and if they tried to trade lives with me they couldn't handle it either. SO right now I try to be happy and feeling blessed that I have this life. That is what I got from reading this book.
Each and very book you get something, you relate and you learn a lesson. I discovered my lesson mixed in with my own situation and added with my words but its based off and was able to start with her book.
Its beautifully and poetical written. It's a book I totally want to read again and again and again from time after time. It's a book I want to buy.
It's a book that gave me courage to do what I needed to do, when I am currently depressed.
This book had set me free. The first step that i had ran away from was born when I read this book.
I starve for living when I read this book not even close to death or hearing the voices of my never-ending fear. It had set me free.
All I have to do now is to remember the lesson and go on with my life through the good and bad.
Who wouldn't love this book? Action, Change, and dark stuff totally the book for me. Interesting and totally brought- to-live characters. Things that you don't think wont happen, desperation and near deaths to frighten you XD even though ur really not inside the book. LOVE love Love it ever since page 2. After i read this book dove for book 2 and even though the series was rather long and i had to wait i think i finished the series in a week(had to restrain myself so i could leave my room and eat).
An Amazing Story that got me to read again after my-summer-break-not-reading-a-book-phase. I loved how Saba's darkness was coming out in this book since it makes sense. After all you cant kill anybody especially somebody you cared about and walk away without going crazy, seeing their ghosts when you go to sleep. Although it did seemed kind of rushed a little when they were having the shaman talk about the future and how they never really explained that part in this book since the important ending the shaman talked about didn't happen yet/explain it yet in the book.
They also hinted about Lugh's past but they don't explain that part either! THAT BUGGED ME SOOO MUCH. Jack wasn't much in this book and it didn't really bother me much but seeing how much Jack changed kind of scared me a little. I wasn't a fan of the ending when I read it, I didn't even want to read the next book (waiting for it to come out) cuz I didn't understand the ending but its not the worst ending I have read but it wasn't the best either. After thinking about it the next couple of days i started to understand her actions a little about her getting together with her enemy just for a night but then totally falling out of love and passion the next day.
When I started to read this book I forgot how it was written and could barely understand the English if I stopped for a break; but I still fell in love soon enough. XP. Its an adventure and mystery worth as a successor to Blood Red Road quirks and all. Cant wait for the next book!
If I stay is gently written, satisfying except for me at the ending.
A definitely a page turner.
Its about real life and its rather shows you in a casual way but has serious matters but deals with it in a realistic casual way that isn't unbelievable like screaming a total girly scream or sad mad out scenes.
Detailed insight in a perspective with good humor and will let you realize that the future can be seen in the present. I cant imagine having a great family that is totally cool and understands you but will sacrifice and grow up to take care of you but then all of its gone. And you get the chance to be in a coma to sleep the problems away, to see whatever body is thinking, reacting and doing before you decide the ultimate decision; if I should stay.
Its one of those books that shares you a story that automatically makes you grow up too and you want to.
Its one of those books I'm looking for, light, funny, worth it, serious, and totally will let me grow a little more in my own pace. That wont force me like my complicated world has
I want to rate it a 4 for the ending but I just cant. It's a 5 all and all.
he themes of love, loss, grief, and hope are so powerful and beautifully written that this story will stay with you long after you finish the last page.
My Mood after reading this: Renewed and thinking about good questions not the useless doubt of questions i usally get.
This book is to be adored. Lily is now the Crown Princess and also still with her bf but bonded with a Prince from another castle to save his palace and people. More trouble comes to her realization when she calls the meeting for all of the 7 sea kingdoms rulers to come and discuss how to help Prince Tellin's kingdom, the world trouble that causes the help to Tellin's kingdom; All the other countries also has problems. And her little stunt to make her a princess and still keep her bf? Makes them go through another trial that might just kill the human she loves the most. This book had me reading in a pace that i didn't even realize what page i was on, the ongoing trouble, events, surprises, and chess moves played out on this book is to be not missed! Its kind of really a realistic version of a teenager's life, mermaid princess who is half human trying to have both, beautifully and funny written into a story. My explanation for what I said before, scoffs* when you talk about the beginning and some of the actions i zoned out and then remember “OH yeah that happened to her, instead of me.” I'm taken along the wave. I dive in a little and it shows me the underwater wonders, I peek and dive deeper, and it moves so I follow the current, and finally after all the conflicts at the bottom it brings me back up with reassurance and rolls me out with the wave saying “That's all.” Leaving a Smile on my face and my mood like I suddenly got wiser and that I sort of feel warm inside.
Seraphina Ames has lived for 600 years, The result of her boyfriend, Cyrus allowing them to live forever but at the price of taking bodies of other humans making their souls die but letting Sera and her coven take over and living literally forever as long as they please - or until they want a new body. However Sera cant take the guilt anymore so she runs away from Cyrus in an attempt suicide but something happens and she lands in a teen's body somehow and this time she is loving this life and may want to stay. Its an amazing, captivating story. Detailed written, many jokes and interesting details.
Even though I dont really believe in reincarnation, although its a nice and cool theory and it appeals to me, but in the end my logical self just says it wont and cant happen. So when i actually liked this book I was hooked and never ever going to forget the plot.

Totally an irresistible, amazing, breathtaking book. Galen was just suppose to find a girl who was of the same kind as him but can talk to fish, Instead he gets a whole journey and way more than that. I cant explain the book i just can only tell you its amazing. Oh as an bonus there is a mystery that you wont see coming. Galen is trying hard not to fall for Emma but cant, soo funny, lighthearted, seems like life that's its touching and breaking my heart at the same time that I cant read the whole series right now. Its an amazing gem that captivates you. I feel like I was holding my breath the entire time I was reading the book and I don't want to breath now that I have finished the book. Not if this book is a dream too good to be true. But its not.
I loved this book. Throughout this book every main character has grown. There were many obstacles on the way and an appropriate time was written. I'm even more pleased to find out it was a fairy tale. Rather than reading it like a boring fairytale book with fancy writing nobody can understand anymore it was written in an amazing perspective of a maid who values loyalty over everything else. Dashti is a brave, smart, kind, and VERY patient persistent person. I didn't want to put this book once I held it for a second. A journey that was stuck in a tower that should have ended in a predictable hero save way but was inserted with a twist and carried into a magical way nobody would have guessed.
This is another one of the books where I found the first few pages boring but as I read later on it was enchanting. Classically, cliché, predictable, but great. Funny, and I was already drowning in this book. High school drama mixed with a Sea god and competition for the crown. While creatures are trying to kill him and his friends, showing themselves in front of humans when they were long forgotten. A book you cant get bored of once you pick it up. One thing I didn't expect was this was a series TT^TT cant wait for the next book.
