I wasn't sure about this one at the beginning, but I ended up enjoying it.
Biddy has grown up on the island of Hy-Brasil. She lives there with her found family Rowan and his familiar Hutchincroft. Rowan is a mage with little magic. That's because almost all the magic has gone out of the world. But together, maybe they can bring it back.
I loved the found family element and the setting. The characters too. I loved the mage/familiar relationship as well. Loving, but also funny at times.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an e-arc.
This one started out pretty slow for me. Then I felt like stopping because everyone they came across was just rambling on, and the gibberish started to get on my nerves. Not sure if it was my mood or the book. I decided to keep reading, and I'm glad I did. I loved the dragons and the ending. They redeemed the book for me.
I received a copy of this book from Goodreads Giveaways. Remy Chandler was once the angel Remiel. He chose to shed his wings and live among humans. He hung out his shingle and became a private investigator. Married, with a great dog Marlowe, life is good. Until it isn't. The Angel of Death has disappeared, no one is dying, just suffering. Remy must find him before the Four Horseman unleash the Apocalypse. This book was ok for me, I just didn't feel wowed. It lacked enough excitement for me, but held just enough of my attention to make me finish it.
The Picklemen are plotting again, and Sophronia means to find out what they're up to. I love this series, and I am soooo sad that this was the last book. I'd like to see what the ladies end up doing after finishing school. So many characters to love.
