This is the best of the series. I find most series go downhill after so many. But not this series! I laughed and felt joy for Ish. Watching his growth over the course of his life was nothing short of epic. But this book really showcased all of who he is. We really hadn't seen anything truly bad happen to Ish not since the beginning when his mother was killed. We get that in Owner's Share. As much as I love this book it was very hard to get through toward the end. Lowell handled it graciously though. You did a beautiful job on this book and the entire series as a whole, Nathan! Thank you.
I normally do not like short stories/novellas because just when I'm really getting into it it's over. However, this a great introduction to the Apocalypto series. It's very well written. It's definitely not a slush pile indie book. I love indie ebooks, but there is a lot of crap out there. It can be hard to find a gem in all the crap. But this is a gem for sure. The pacing was excellent and the plot intriguing. I've already started Spiderwork.
Chris takes you on a fast and thrilling ride! Every time I put this book down I didn't want to. Alas other responsibilities forced me to. I loved the back and forth between the past and present. It was a very nice touch. Sam is a badass! There's no other way of saying it. There were twist and turns I didn't see coming. I can't wait for the next in the series!
I really wanted to love this story. In some ways it was very good. However, overall I just didn't like it. I can not believe I'm about to tell you I liked the movie better. That just never happens. But I guess there's a first time for everything. The story and the movie are nothing alike. But I liked Benjamin from the movie. Benjamin from the book is a real asshole. I am glad I read it though. This is the second work from F. Scott Fitzgerald I've read and I can see myself reading more from him.
I don't normally write reviews. But I'm compelled to write one this time. You see I have a long history with The Unification Chronicles. I first read this series in 2005 when it was short story and when it was serialized fiction. Whenever Jeff improves upon his story I must read it. This is the best version yet! Jeff has taken this story and these beloved characters to amazing heights. The characters are well rounded and I can understand the choices they've made. It was wonderful reconnecting with old, familiar characters but the introduction to new characters was a joy too! Revelation is fast paced and well written. Jeff and his editor are pros so you can rest assured this book is not riddled full of errors or any of the other negatives you come to tolerate and expect in indie ebooks.
As a geek, I love Jeff's use of tech in this story. Especially since it's very relatable. It's tech we use on a regular basis. Tech has always played a role in the Unification Chronicles but he really outdid himself this time. Jeff is also very, very good at action sequences. There is no shortage of it. However, it's all very believable despite this book being about angels and demons.
For those who have read The Unification Chronicles before and you are on the fence about reading it again let me reassure you it's like nothing you've read before. There are familiar parts that you already know. However, there are so many new things in this book that it's a completely new book. You could say to me that you've already read The Unification Chronicles and I could say, “No, you haven't.” It's just that different.
I highly recommend Between Heaven and Hell: Revelation! Buy it and you can thank me later.
I haven't read many slayer books so I may not be the best judge, but I loved this book. Cheryl is so badass! I loved every second of the fast paced story. This is an indie book, but it didn't read like one. I didn't find any glaring spelling or grammar mistakes. This is a high quality book. I highly recommend Spiral X to anyone who likes Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
