Ένα μικρό σχετικά βιβλίο με μικρές ιστορίες. Δεν ξετρελάθηκα, δε μου έκανε εντύπωση καμία ιστορία ιδιαίτερα και αμφιβάλλω αν θα θυμάμαι κάποια από αυτές μετά από κάποιο χρονικό διάστημα. Αν δεν έχεις κάτι άλλο να διαβάσεις οκ αλλά ως εκεί ή αν είσαι κουρασμένη και θες κάτι να περάσει η ώρα. Πολύ ‘‘ψαγμένο'', ταυτόχρονα ανούσιο και καθόλου ευχάριστο. Ίσως βέβαια να είμαι εγώ χαζή και πραγματικά να υπήρχε κάποιο βαθύτερο μήνυμα.
Η πρώτη ιστορία ήταν η εισαγωγική με την ιστορία του Όμηρου Μπαρ, αδιάφορη κατ' εμέ. Μετά είναι ‘‘Ο πελεγκρίνι και τα τζιτζίκια'', πάλι αδιάφορη.
''Τα σκουπίδια του προέδρου'' είχαν κάποιο ενδιαφέρον και νομίζω ότι μέχρι και σήμερα αντιπροσωπεύουν τον Έλληνα που απλώς κάθεται, μπόρει να εμφανιστει μία ευκαιρία ή να νομίζει ότι υπάρχει μία ευκαιρία κάπου και απλώς να την αφήσει να περάσει από μπροστά του, χωρίς να κάνει κάτι.
Έπειτα είναι η ‘‘κηδεία πακιστανού αποβιώσαντος εν Ελλάδι'' που και αυτή η ιστορία νομίζω παραμένει επίκαιρη.
''Το ουίσκι της Μεγάλης Παρασκεύης'', αδιάφορο.
Το ‘‘Παραθαλάσσιο οικόπεδο'' μου άρεσε. Συγκινητική ιστορία, παρακολουθούμε μία φυσική καταστροφή και έναν άνθρωπο που χάνει την ιδιοκτησία του εξαιτίας αυτής.
''Η τάξη του 60'' και αυτή η ιστοριούλα είναι αντιπροσωπευτική θεωρώ.
Ακολουθεί το ‘‘Αν υπάρχει Θεός, την πατήσαμε'' το οποίο δε κατάλαβα ακριβώς τι ήθελε να εκφράσει. Διαβάζουμε τις σκέψεις ενός ανθρώπου που έχει αποβιώσει, οι οποίες είναι επικριτικές για κάποιες θέσεις εξουσίας αλλά δεν οδηγούν πουθενά, είναι απλώς ένα παραλήρημα ή τουλάχιστον έτσι είναι γραμμένο.
Μετά ‘‘Οι κολυμβητές'' που πάλι δε κατανόησα ακριβώς τι ήθελε να πει με αυτή την ιστορία.
''Ο θάνατος του γραμματέα'', αδιάφορο.
''Η κυρίαρχος του παιχνιδιού'' μου άρεσε, αρκετά.
''Το ιδανικό χαμόγελο'' και αυτό ήταν εντάξει.
''Οι φίλοι της πυροσβεστικής'' επίσης αντικατοπτρίζουν τη ψυχοσύνθεση του Έλληνα μέχρι και σήμερα.
Τέλος τα ‘‘δάχτυλα με νικοτίνη'' που ήταν οκ.
I enjoy it a lot!
Liked most of the characters, the storyline is fun, the writing style is good, simplistic and the ending isn't that predictable.
There was some moments that felt kind of too much. Like the massacre which just felt out of the place the way it was written and the timing of it.
I would reccomend this one for summer.
Overall a good book to pass your time. Definitely nothing great but also not something pathetically bad that will just anger you or give up upon it.
The negatives:
The character of the Witch was comical in some moments, and I think Rankin over did it with how “genius” and untouchable she was written, plus the whole she can mask herself as another person and look 10+ years younger with makeup was just ridiculous, irl she would look caked up. Also it was hard to believe that it took her so many years to take some kind of personal revenge and she was so late to find out, since she was sold to us as the person who outsmarts everyone. All the other characters were from the special forces, police etc and I have to say that besides Dominic Elder all the others are just easily forgettable.
The positive:
It works perfectly if you are in some kind of reading block. It's easy, enjoyable, the writing is good. The characters who hunt the witch are forgettable, but they are all likeable even though they have very different characters and none of them is written as insufferable.
Would I recommend it? Maybe if someone is looking for something easy and chill and has nothing else to read.
Τι όμορφο, απλό αλλά και ευχάριστο αστυνομικό μυθιστόρημα ήταν αυτό.
Βλέπουμε το χαρακτήρα του Μπέκα αρκετά στο συγκεκριμένο, ανθρώπινα και ρεαλιστικά γραμμένος, κάνει λάθη και δεν είναι ιδιοφυΐα. Ένας έξυπνος σχετικά αστυνομικός, με καλή διαίσθηση. Μου άρεσε αρκετά η υπόθεση, δεν μπορείς να προβλέψεις ακριβώς το που θα καταλήξει.
Οι δευτερεύων χαρακτήρες ήταν και αυτοί καλογραμμένοι και η περιγραφή που κάνει ο Μαρής, για το είδος ανθρώπων που είναι ο κάθε ένας από αυτούς σαν ένα είδος εισαγωγής ειναι αρκετά έξυπνη!
Το απόλαυσα πραγματικά! Ιδανικο για καλοκαίρι όταν θέλεις κάτι ελαφρύ αλλά και ενδιαφέρον χωρίς πολύ δράμα.
Short, easy, chill and cosy mystery. I think I would have enjoyed it more, if I read it in the beach but it was still fun for spring!
Nothing great, nothing complicated. Agatha Christie follows her usual pattern with the obvious murderer, with the complications in the middle. Miss Marple being the classic sharp, noisy, old lady. I would appreciate if the police wasn't as useless though in the miss marple series, and it had a more realistic approach with it. The only other problem was the rushed ending, the pace went a little off when it was about to end.
Probably my fav publication of her books. Maybe 3.25 is more accurate but I had fun so
Μικρό, απλό, ευχάριστο και έξυπνο noir.
Μια υπόθεση του αστυνόμου Μπέκα και στο συγκεκριμένο τον βλέπουμε αρκετά, σε αντίθεση με άλλα μυθιστόρημα του. Μου άρεσε που ο Μπέκας αν και περιγράφεται ως έξυπνος αστυνομικός, αμφέβαλλε αρκετές φορές για τον ένοχο. Εκτιμώ πολύ που ο Γιάννης Μαρης επιλέγει μία πιο ρεαλιστική προσέγγιση στο γράψιμο των χαρακτήρων του.
Ότι πρέπει για καλοκαίρι/άνοιξη που θελεις κάτι πιο χαλαρό.
Δεν είμαι η μεγαλύτερη οπαδός της ποίησης και η γνώση μου προς αυτήν είναι ελλιπής, οπότε κρίνω καθαρά με το αν μου άρεσε ή όχι. Το πρόβλημα μου με την ποίηση είναι ότι είτε είναι πολύ δραματοποιημενη για τα γούστα μου συνήθως ή υπερβολικά απλή που μου περνάει τελείως αδιάφορη.
Η θεματολογία των ποιημάτων στο συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο είναι ο ύπνος και τα όνειρα. Σαν κάθε ποιητή και ο συγκεκριμένος φαίνεται να έχει αυτοκτονικες τάσεις και η ποίηση του το βγάζει αυτό, όπως βγάζει και την προσπάθεια του ποιητή να αποδεχτεί ότι μεγάλωσε και γέρασε.
Τα όνειρα της νιότης μου
τα βλέπω και μεγάλος,
όμως σαν ήμουνα παιδί
πίστευα πως θα βγούνε.
Τα όνειρα των γερατειών
τα έβλεπα από παιδακι

Νομίζουν ότι εγώ τους τρομάζω, αλλά αυτό που τους τρομάζει είναι ο νάνος μέσα τους, το πιθηκομορφο ανθρωποειδές που σηκώνει το κεφάλι του από τα βάθη της ψυχής τους.
Τι είναι το παιχνίδι; Είναι η άνευ σημασίας ενασχόληση με το τίποτα. Ο παράξενος τρόπος να χειρίζεσαι τα πράγματα ξεκινώντας από την προϋπόθεση ότι υποκρίνεσαι.
Ο άνθρωπος αρέσκεται να βλέπει τον εαυτό του σε θολό καθρέφτη
Καταλαβαίνω επίσης ότι πρέπει να υπάρχουν καλλιτέχνες που να ζωγραφίζουν θρησκευτικά θέματα για τους ανθρώπους του λαού, έτσι ώστε να λατρέψουν κάτι που δεν είναι τόσο φτωχό και βρωμικο όσο εκείνοι. Ωραίες ζωγραφιές μαρτύρων, τους οποίους για να τιμήσουν μετά την εκτέλεση τους, έχουν ντύσει με ακριβά ενδύματα και ένα χρυσό φωτοστέφανο, ακριβώς όπως θα τιμηθούν και οι άνθρωποι του λαού μετά το τέλος της μίζερης ζωής τους. Ζωγραφιές που δείχνουν στον όχλο ότι ο Κυριος τους σταυρώθηκε όταν προσπάθησε να κάνει κάτι εδώ στη γη, άρα θα πρέπει ο όχλος να καταλάβει ότι εδώ κάτω δεν υπάρχει ελπίδα.
Incredible book and hard to believe that it was written by someone who studied law and in 1865.
Now I can't say that the version I read felt like a novel since it's very focused on the theoretical part. Personally I was searching for something in almost every 2-3 pages to see how it works, for what it's being used today etc. I needed to search almost every chemical element and I needed to try and found out how he came with his calculations and who were some of the people he mentioned so I was with a computer next me. Honestly no one to blame but myself for this.
In my opinion Verne used this book as a way to publish his theory. I personally see it as way to publish his theory and not get criticized by astronomists, physicists, mathematicians and generally scientists of his time. I definitely want to re-read it at some point in my life again.
This book is my introduction to Hemingway and it definitely left an impression. I will start by saying that it's easy to separate the movie with Humphrey Bogart(in his peak btw) and Lauren Bacall because they don't have much in common. I think the movie just got “inspired” by the book and mainly for the role of Bogart and the theme with the illegal business.
We follow the character of Harry and occasionally we see some random character's point of view. The flow was definetely weird and there was no consistency between chapters. We start from a scene that it's definitely not an usual introduction to a story and occasionally we jump straight away in other events with no explanation.
Something that I really really liked and I give kudos to that, is that there is no back story of his characters. Hemingway doesn't try to explain his characters or their actions. I have noticed that a lot of writers try to put a back story and not necessarily because they want to explain their characters, but because the reader is supposed to feel empathetic towards them and excuse the action they committed. Here you get a raw view of what kind of person the main character is and it's focused only on the present.
Personal opinions and views in some themes of the book:
Let me start by saying that Harry is one of those characters that I can't decide where he belongs. He is a man with principles, putting his family above everything else, being able to feel sympathy and empathy for those who are in a worst situation or the same as him and his morals aren't exactly nonexistent. He is a criminal and it's not like he is a “Vigilante”, he is selfish and he doesn't really care if the person who gets in his way it's a decent human being or not, and yet I found other characters in this novel way more disgusting.
Moving on to some of the other characters and scenes that play out. The second character that I think I will occasionally think about, was Albert. Albert was the kind of man that not only had principles and morals, but he took pride. We don't get to see him a lot but you can easily say that he was an actual good man, which is so rare. His ending was expected since that's the usual ending for those characters.
About Harry's wife, I don't have a lot to say since the only thing we get from her is how much she loved and how sexually aroused her husband made her. At the end after Harry's death, I wasn't surprised at all when she says that she has no interest in her daughters. :)
There was a scene with a rich couple fighting and 2 pages before we get the best description on the book, as a man was laying dying. He was describing the sea, how he felt by the shot etc etc. I was about to say what kind of irony and how meaningless their was, but I was false. It wasn't a meaningless fight and rich people's problems. This fight was actually the second or third best scene in the book. There is man who cheats on his wife with another married woman and this woman gets to cheat once but the problem isn't even the cheating. This man destroyed his wife emotionally and the description of if was so well done. The man was using excuses to not have kids, forced his wife to had an abortion, he cheated proactively trying to completely ruin his wife's pride, he neglected and made her feel like a fool in front of others. Besides all these he made her incapable of having hope and unable to love again. Unfortunately at the end Hemingway kind of ruined what he managed to do in here. Close to the end he did wrote a monologue of a rich woman who was cheating on her husband, and she was babbling about how men are made to cheat and blah blah, while she was doing the exact same. Her monologue was meaningless and repetitive and I was asking myself why he included it.
The last scene that left an impression,was the old prideful suicidal guy. We see him for a few pages and all we get is that he is a cynic that besides himself he has a hard time to care for others. There was a whole paragraph in here about how guns(talking about suicide) can cure insomnia, cancer, help with bankruptcy and how easily they can cure the American dream that became a nightmare. In the same page he says that he would follow the same fate as his father who decided to jump from the 42nd floor. This man that we get to read about him for like 6 pages managed to stay memorable. I don't know what to comment on here besides that it was very disturbing, very depressive and that people who are in a weird place shouldn't read this. Hemingway is selling it pretty well, with good writing.
I went with no expectations and I ended up really enjoying it, it was a good read. Slow but interesting enough. The story is separated in 3 parts with the second part being my fav and the most interesting in my opinion.
First part is focused on present time. A man kills another man, there's no motive for this murder and the police doesn't even tries to find one lol. He gets the death penalty and until his last moments he doesn't explains why he did it. In the first part we briefly see how his actions affect the others around him, especially his 2 adult kids. This part is also focused on the trial that went down and the court drama.
Second part is the experience of this man when he was in Philippines fighting against the Japanese. The most interesting part. The descriptions aren't like Jo Nesbo's so don't expect your skin to crawl, but even though they aren't really detailed and descriptive in a disturbing level, you will still need to put the book down and take a break. The writer blends reality with fiction here and he does it well.
In the last part which is the third, we finally learn the motive behind the murder(it was kind of obvious) but there is also a plot twist that I personally didn't see it coming even though there were hints. Now this part is fully focused on the kids and the consequences the murder their father committed had and overall the actions of their parents and not only mentally.
Personal views and opinions about the plot twist:
I genuinely couldn't feel bad for anyone besides the kids and the pastor who died. I think the writer tried to make it as everyone is at fault and at the same time they aren't to blame and it's just life, but he failed to do that for me.
I felt sorry for Pete until a certain point but he lost his self respect and mine, when instead of getting a divorce, he chose to live a pathetic life and commit a murder(and the wrong one if you ask me), as for Liza I felt sorry for her only when it came to the infection after the abortion
To put the betrayal into perspective here. I imagine I am the one at war, dealing with death every day, seeing the worst of human nature and my husband with my 2 kids is back home and thinks I died. After only a year of my death, this man starts sleeping around with the girl he knew since she was 14. -- In our house that my kids live. -- If I was dead I am sure I would get up from my grave to hunt him. Turns out I am alive, coming back from the dead and this man doesn't even say he was fucking the young girl he knew since she was 14 but he tells me a random ass name, which doesn't change much since the hate would still be against my husband and not the random woman he cheated with. I can't understand the logic of the people that instead of blaming their husband/wife blame the other woman/man. They weren't the one's that you were living for years with, they weren't the ones you trusted and you had kids with. They aren't the ones you loved and betrayed you.
Δεν ξέρω πως τα κατάφερα και το τελείωσα το συγκεκριμένο. Είδα το εξώφυλλο, διάβασα την περίληψη(που δεν λέει και πολλά) και λέω εντάξει δεν θα διαβάσω κάποιο αριστούργημα αλλά θα είναι κάτι εύκολο, διασκεδαστικό να περάσω την ώρα μου. Ναι όχι. Ακόμα και καλοκαίρι σε παραλία να το διάβαζα θα το σιχαινόμουν.
Θα ξεκινήσω με τα καλά και θα πω ότι η συγγραφέας έχει ωραίο γραπτό λόγο και αυτό είναι και το μοναδικό.
Στο μυθιστόρημα ακολουθούμε δύο κύριους χαρακτήρες.Έναν συγγραφέα, ο οποίος είναι αυτός ο στερεοτυπικός
καλλιτέχνης που είναι και καλά αντισυμβατικός, η τέχνη του είναι το πιο σπουδαίο πράγμα για αυτόν και οι γυναίκες στην ζωή του είναι περαστικές. Ο άλλος χαρακτήρας είναι μία γυναίκα πλούσια από κούνια που δουλεύει καθαρά από χόμπι και για εμπειρίες και ερωτεύεται με το καλημέρα. Πέρα από αυτούς τους χαρακτήρες διαβάζουμε και για κάποιους χαρακτήρες που έχει γράψει ο συγγραφέας μέσα στο βιβλίο του.
Για να δώσω μία σύντομη περίληψη του συγγραφέα και της ηρωίδας, θα έλεγα ότι μιλάμε για δύο πλούσια εγωιστικά άτομα που το μεγαλύτερο πρόβλημα, που έχουν να αντιμετωπίσουν στην ζωή τους, είναι το αν θα ξανά βρεθούν με το άτομο που γνώρισαν για μερικά λεπτά.
Τώρα πέρα από αυτά τα επιφανειακά άτομα, οι χαρακτήρες που υποτίθεται ότι γράφει ο συγγραφέας είναι ακόμα χειρότεροι. Γράφει για μία γιαγιά Φωτεινη και το εγγόνι της. Από όταν το εγγόνι ήταν μικρο μέχρι να φτάσει στην εφηβεία που επιτελούς η γιαγιά Φωτεινή πεθαίνει, οι συμβουλές που της δείνει, είναι όλες γκομενικής φύσεως. Μην ερωτευτείς, άσε τους άλλους να σε κυνηγάνε, και οι ιστόριες που τις λέει είναι για τις γυναίκες της οικογένειας που πάντα απατούσαν τους άντρες τους. Ως εδώ απλώς αντιπαθούσα το συγκεκριμένο χαρακτήρα και αναρωτιόμουν πόσο άνετη ζωή έχει ζήσει κάποιος για να είναι έτσι. Θα πω έδω ότι η συγγραφέας όσο αφορά τις γυναίκες που απατούν σε όλο το βιβλίο το πουλάει σαν απελευθερωτικό, κυνηγάνε τα όνειρα τους, τον έρωτα, είναι πολύ παθιασμένες γυναίκες, φλογερές, ποθητές κτλ κτλ αλλά όταν οι άντρες απατούν δείχνει τις γυναίκες να γίνονται αλκοολικές, να μην μπορούν να εμπιστεύθουν πια και να αναζητάνε εκδίκηση. Τραγική η υποκρισία θα πω εγώ.Περνάω στο χειρότερο κομμάτι και αυτό είναι το παρελθόν της Φωτεινής. Πλούσια, νέα, κακομαθημένη παντρεύεται έναν παλικάρι και κάνει και δύο παιδιά μάζι του, ωστόσο μόλις αυτός της λέει να έρθει στον Πειραιά και βλέπει τι κατάσταση επικρατεί στην Αθήνα, που οι άνθρωποι δεν έχουν να φάνε κάτω απο το καθεστώς των Ιταλών και αντιλαμβάνεται ότι ο σύζυγος είναι φτώχος(πως τολμά) αποφασίζει να χωρίσει. Όχι απλώς χωρίζει, αλλά δείνει ψεύτικες πληροφορίες ότι στο πλοίο που έρχεται είναι ένας Έλληνας την αντίστασης κατά του Μουσολίνι στους Ιταλούς. Αν τον έπιανα θα τον εκτελούσαν αλλά αυτό είναι λεπτομέρεια, διότι πως θα μπορούσε η Φωτεινή να μείνει παντρεμένη με έναν φτωχό, αν έπρεπε να πεθάνει ο σύζυγος για αυτό ας πέθανε. Μετά παντρεύεται τον δεύτερο σύζυγο της, κάνει και δύο παιδιά με αυτόν, φεύγει και αυτός για ένα διάστημα πριν από τους Γερμανούς εκεί λέει ότι τον κεράτωνε έτσι χαλαρά. Μετά είναι η εποχή που έρχονται η Γερμανοί, ο σύζυγος πηγαίνει να πολεμίσει στο μέτωπο και η ίδια κυνηγάει να της κάτσουν οι παππάδες και όποιος άλλο βρει. (Εδώ να πω ότι αν κάποιος στις μέρες μας, μπορεί να πληγωθεί τόσο από μία απιστία που να το γυρίσει σε αλκοόλ, επιπόλαιο σεξ, να μην μπορεί να εμπιστευθεί και να μην θέλει να ξανα δεσμευτεί, δεν μπορώ να φανταστώ πως θα αισθανόταν κάποιος που πολέμησε σε πόλεμο.) Επιτέλους η κατοχή αγκίζει και τους αστούς, καμία σχέση βέβαια με τον υπόλοιπο κόσμο που όχι απλώς δεν είχε τενεκέδες λάδι αλλά ούτε ψωμί. Για τα δεδομένα της Φωτεινής ωστόσο η φτώχια που τόσο φοβόταν και ήταν διατεθειμένη να σκοτώσει έναν άνθρωπο την άγγιξε. Σε αύτο το σημείο και λίγο πιο κάτω, η συγγραφέας προσπάθησε να κερδίσει sympathy points για την Φωτεινή, αλλά ήταν τόσο φανερό που με ανακάτεψε ακόμα περισσότερο. Μετά από τα sympathy points το γύρισε στον κλασσικό εγωιστικό, αστικό χαρακτήρα που είχε χτίσει για αυτήν που το μεγαλύτερο πρόβλημα είναι τι καφέ θα πιει σήμερα, τι φόρεμα θα βάλει και με ποιον θα κοιμηθεί.
400+ σελίδες μία ανοησία, χωρίς νόημα
For “the third man”. I will start by saying that I love the movie, Orson Welles plays a fantastic villain in it and the same goes for Alida Valli.
So naturally I ended up so dissapointed with this novel. The pace and the “flow” of the story felt off from the beginningt to the end. The narrator in the novel changes abruptly and the way we follow the story on the book is so fast and the scenes are cut very sharply, we end up seeing the characters very superficially. Compared to the movie the book felt so “little”.
About the “Fallen Idol” . I watched the movie while I was reading the third man, ( I didn't even know this movie existed)and I ended up being neutral about it. Unnecessarily long if you ask me, could be easily a short 60-70 min film. However the short story from the book was perfect. Interesting, well paced, good writing and I had a pleasant time reading it. The only fault I could give to it, it's about the weird vocabulary and the unnecessary short story inside the story.
Από τα πιο έξυπνα μυθιστορήματα της Αγκάθα Κρίστι, αν δεν είχε γίνει σε τόσες κινηματογαφικές διασκευές το να βρεις τον ύποπτο είναι αδύνατον μέχρι τα 3/4 του βιβλίου σε αντίθεση με πολλά από τα βιβλία της, που είναι λίγο φανερο το ποιος το έχει κάνει.
Ωστόσο επειδή είναι ένα περίπλοκο έγκλημα σε αντίθεση με άλλα βιβλία της, δεν σκιαγραφεί και ούτε εμβαθύνει τους χαρακτήρες στο συγκεκριμένο. Δεν σου δίνεται η δυνατότητα ως αναγνώστης να αισθανθείς κάποιο θετικό ή αρνητικό συναίσθημα απέναντι τους. Πρωταγωνιστής είναι ο Πουαρό και πέρα από εκεί οι άλλοι χαρακτήρες είναι απλώς χαρακτήρες που εξυπηρετούν στην πλοκή του μυθιστορήματος.
I was debating what rate I should put in this, between 2.5-3 I choose 3 and that's mainly for the writing. I tried to understand this book but I couldn't.
I will start by saying that the author can write, at the beginning I can't say that I found her writing fascinating but as the story goes on you can totally see the talent she has with her descriptions.
I will separate the story in 3 parts and try my best to explain the unexplainable.
The first part is with the narration of her husband. From the beginning the first thought in your head it will be why those people got married? They met on university, both of them were very ordinary, basic and somehow that with the sex being okay between them, was enough reason of a reason for a marriage. Neither him or the woman who is the main character had an actual interest on each other, from the perspective of the husband it's very clear but from her actions it's easy to assume the same. So the wife that seems to have no interest in life at one point announces she is vegetarian. She becomes obsessive and unusual with it. The explanation of that is dreams, dreams that she is violent and if she is not the one that is violent those dreams are still gorey. You could say that her subconscious was trying to say to her that she has a very violent nature and she becomes so in denial about it that not even she doesn't want to be near humans anymore, since at one point she says to her husband that he smells like flesh, but she is also goes into a very obsessive way to not eat animals as well. She starts losing a ton of weight and the situation becomes uncontrollable for her husband. Her family comes in the picture at his moment and as much as I was supposed to hate the parents who were shocked and pushed her further to eat meat I didn't(not at this point at least). Seeing your kid fading away will cause those reactions of anger. Her father lost his sympathy fairly quickly after he resorts to violence. Later on we start to get a better picture of what kind of man her father was. A very violent man and that would explain her extreme fear and denial of her own nature that makes perfect sense with a parent like that. Her husband divorces her after he sees that he can't handle the situation. I could say I supported this decision for many reasons, but he lost every part of my sympathy since he raped her. Second part of the story is her brother in law. I tried very hard, very very hard to understand this part but I couldn't at all. He is an artist, an artist that besides art he has no other interest in his life. We could say he goes through a middle life crisis, he is insecure with the way he looks, not confident for his work and everything seems dull and meaningless. He becomes fascinated by the mongolian spot his sister in law has. I had no idea what that was, I found out that it's like a birth mark that the majority of Asian babies have, rare in black babies and even rarer in white babies. He is in a pathetic state of his life and finally he starts to see a vision for making great art, creating something big. I am not going to go into a lot of details in here because his part was the part that I couldn't get myself to read at all. I was glad that he got jail time, even if it was for a short amount of time. Third part is the point of view of her sister. Until this point she seemed to be somewhat normal and I would say the same for her mother, but at this part we learn that the parents completely cut off their mentally sick child that now is in a psychiatric ward. Here we learn how this sister was affected by growing up with a violent father even if she wasn't the one that he vented up his anger. Her choice of her pathetic husband makes perfect sense, since his character was as different as possible from her father and he seemed so uninterested in life that she could be the one having the upper hand and making decisions. Here we see how she was mentally unwell as well, but she was high functioning.For this part I will comment on the situation in the psychiatric ward as well, it didn't make sense. First of all if you have a patient who is in unhealthy weight and refuse to eat you don't wait months to put them under nutritional supplementation. You wait a day or two until the higher ups sign the papers and your patient gets the feeding tube. I was so distracted on this part because I could only think the lawsuit that could come. Even if the patient doesn't die, the family can still sue for negligence. I tried to find out how the psychiatric system is in South Korea works but I couldn't find much. A very weird story that to me seemed uninteresting and unenjoyable. The story was written for a very specific audience.
Ιστορία που διαβάζεται εύκολα και παιρνάς την ώρα σου ευχάριστα αλλά ως εκεί, σίγουρα όχι από τα καλύτερα της.
Η ροή του μυθιστορήματος ήταν λίγο περίεργη στην αρχή και στην μέση, στο τέλος έδεσε και έκλεισε ωραία.. Η Μις Μαρπλ κάνει την εμφάνιση της προς το τέλος. Είναι βιβλίο παραλίας κατά την δική μου άποψη. Δεν ακολουθεί το συνηθισμένο μοτίβο όσο αφορά την περιγραφή της ιστορίας και η Μις Μαρπλ τοποθετείται στο τέλος αλλά η επιλογή του υπόπτου είναι η ίδια όπως κάθε φορά.
The movie is in my top 10, I try to watch it every 2 years or so and at one point I wanted to read on what it was based on.
Some events are different in here, the pace is different and so is the chronology order and the ending was completely different. The comic is purely a tragedy, truly a tragedy. Starts from the future and we go back to the past to see what leads to that ending and it's tragic event after tragic event, we don't catch a break at all, it's just sadness. The good part was the diary readings that made it somewhat interesting but I can't say that I found something else exceptional and I wasn't a fan of the art either.
The movie was so realistic, so relatable to me, with the beautiful slow pace, with the events on different stages on their lives, with the perfect realistic ending and in comparison this comic feels so little. It's funny because the movie has so many harsh reviews about one ‘‘long'' sex scene between Lea and Adele when the movie is 3 hours long(btw you will never see the same harsh critic on movies with long sex scenes with gay men or even heterosexual couples) and most of them would hype the comic but like I said if you have watched the film I doubt this comic will create the same feelings the movie did, not even the 1/10 of what you feel with the movie.
If I hadn't watched the movie maybe I could appreciate the story more but now I can't but compare the two of them.
Σε σύγκριση με τις μικρές ιστορίες της Αγκάθα Κρίστι η οποίες είναι συνήθως αδιάφορες, τα σχετικά μικρά αλλά ολοκληρωμένα μυθιστόρημα της είναι εξαιρετικά. Ο ήρωας της συγκεκριμένης ιστορίας είναι ο Ηρακλής Πουαρό που είναι ντετέκτιβ και όχι κάποιος απλώς ηλικιωμένος παρατηρητής, που κατά την δική μου άποψη βγάζει περισσότερο νόημα τουλάχιστον σε σύγκριση με την άλλη ηρωίδα της την Μις Μαρπλ.
Η ιστορία ήταν αρκετά ενδιαφέρον, η κόρη μιας γυναίκας η οποία δικάστηκε και εκτελέστηκε με απογχονισμό για την δολοφονία του συζύγου της αφήνει ένα γράμμα στην κόρη της ότι δεν διέπραξε αύτη το έγκλημα και πως είναι αθώα. Ο Πουαρό έρχεται σε επικοινωνία με τους ανθρώπους που ήταν παρόντες και βλέπουμε τις περιγραφές των δύο αυτών ανθρώπων μέσα από τα μάτια των 5 ατόμων που ήταν κοντά τους. Πολύ καλές περιγραφές και πολύ καλή ανάλυση χαρακτήρων. Μου άρεσε αρκετά το σημείο το οποίο ο κάθε ένας από τα πέντε άτομα έγραψαν πως θυμούνται τα γεγονότα και διαβάζουμε τα γράμματα τους. Και στο συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο θα έλεγα οτί πάλι ακολουθεί το μοτίβο της, που είναι το πιο προφανές άτομο είναι το ένοχο, ωστόσο η δικαιολογία συγκάλυψης ήταν έξυπνη και δεν την είχα υποπτευθεί.
Το γράψιμο ήταν όμορφο, ενδιαφέρον χαρακτήρες αλλα και σχέσεις μεταξύ τους, καλή ιστορία και διαβάζετε εύκολα και δεν είναι μόνο για καλοκαίρι/παραλία.
Σχεδόν όλες οι ιστορίες είναι με την Μις Μαρπλ στο συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο και ήμουν ενθουσιασμένη, διότι η Μις Μαρπλ έιναι ή νόμιζα ότι είναι η αγαπημένη μου ηρωίδα από τα βιβλία της Αγκάθα Κρίστι, ωστόσο οι συγκεκριμένες μικρές ιστορίες δεν με ξετρέλαναν.

Όμορφη μικρή ιστορία, έχει έγκλημα, μυστήριο, απλό και λιτό γράψιμο και προσωπικά την βρήκα και λίγο συγκινητική.
Ένα παράξενο αστείο 2/5 Αδιάφορη ιστορία και χωρίς κανένα νόημα, τουλάχιστον για εμένα που δεν μπόρεσα να βρω κάτι.
Φόνος με μεζούρα 2.25/5 Ξεφεύγει λίγο από το συνηθισμένο μοτίβο της στο συγκεκριμένο ως ένα βαθμό, που είναι συνήθως η πιο απλή εξήγηση και ο πιο προφανής ύποπτος. Σαν ιστορία δεν μπορώ να πω ότι ήταν κακή αλλά ούτε και κάτι που θα σου μείνει να θυμάσαι.
Η περίπτωση της επιστάτισσας 2.5/5 Στην συγκεκριμένη ιστόρια ο τρόπος αφήγησης αλλάζει από τον συνηθισμένο της. Η μις Μαρπλ δεν είναι άμεσα εμπλεκόμενη με το εγκλήμα. Καλούτσικη ιστορία άλλα χωρίς κάτι ιδιαίτερο που θα θυμάσαι.
Μια τέλεια υπηρέτρια 2.25/5 Μια πάλι αδίαφορη ιστορία, ωστόσο στην συγκεκριμένη υπήρχε ένα συμπέρασμα ή ας πούμε ηθικό δίδαγμα. Όταν κάτι ακούγεται τέλειο συνήθως δεν είναι αληθινό ή έτσι όπως παρουσιάζεται και να προσέχεις/παρατηρείς περισσότερο τους γύρω σου; Για το τελευταίο δεν είμαι και τόσο σίγουρη.
Η Μις Μαρπλ λέει μια ιστορία 2/5 Την διάβασα χθες την ιστορία και ήδη την ξέχασα. Πάλι εδώ αλλάζει λίγο τον τρόπο διήγησης της, ωστόσο ακολουθεί το συνηθισμένο μοτίβο του προφανής υπόπτου.
Η τρέλα του Γκρήνσο 3.25/5 Μου άρεσε αρκετά η συγκεκριμένη ιστορία και είναι από τις λίγες ιστορίες νομίζω που θα μου μείνει και θα θυμάμαι.
Η Τσιγγάνα 2.5/5 Εδώ η ιστορία έχει το υπερφυσικό στοιχείο το οποίο δεν είμαι φαν και η ίδια η Αγκαθά Κρίστι το κρίνει σε άλλα διηγήματα της, αλλα εδώ βασίζεται στην έκτη αίσθηση. Καλή και όμορφη ιστορία αλλά αμφιβάλλω ότι θα μου μείνει.
Το κάλεσμα των φτερών 3.5/5 Δεν υπάρχει έγκλημα ή μυστήριο στη συγκεκριμένη ιστορία. Η ιστορία κατά την δική μου γνώμη είναι για να πει και να δείξει ότι τα λεφτά δεν φέρνουν την ευτυχία. Ο πρωταγωνιστής είναι ένας κυνικός αυτοδημιούργιτος άνθρωπος που έχει καταφέρει να γίνει πλούσιος. Σιγά σιγά τον βλέπουμε να αρχίζει να χάνει το μυαλό του και ότι εν τέλει τα πλούτη και τα υλικά αγαθά του έχουν προκαλέσει μεγαλύτερη ανυσηχία και άγχος από ότι είχει πριν. Πέρα από αυτό εξερεύνα και τον φόβο αυτού του ανθρώπου για τον θάνατο, ο οποίος παίζει τον κινητήριο λόγο για να αλλάξει . Μου άρεσε αρκετά.
Νομίζω, βασικά είμαι σίγουρη ότι διάλεξα την λάθος εποχή για να διαβάσω Αγκάθα Κρίστι, είναι βιβλία που θα έπαιρνες μαζί σου στην παραλία.
I had read ‘‘The body in the library'' by Agatha Christie when I was young and I can say that I am disappointed by those stories. It didn't reach the expectations I had for her from back then.
Three Blind Mice 2.5/5 A mystery that could go into more depth but it didn't and it was left in a very superficial level.
The lamb 2/5 Not a mystery. A very short story that I guess she wanted to play it out as a spooky fairytale. Yeah it didn't work out for me.
The Last Seance 2.5/5 This story had potential since as far as I remember Agatha Christie wasn't a fan of those who claimed to be mediums, but in here we are left to believe that something like this exist. The way it ended I would say that the moral of the story was that women should trust their instincts and that greedy people don't care about the lives of others, if they are to achieve their goal? idk
Next to a Dog 3/5 I liked this story, it's a story about grief at least it seemed like that to me and it had a happy ending if you could call it that!
Πάρα πολύ ρομαντικό, συναισθηματικό και γλυκό μυθιστόρημα του Μαρή.
Ο φόνος που έγινε ήταν δευτερεύων στη συγκεκριμένη ιστορία και έγινε μόνο και μόνο για να δικαιολογήσει ένα μέρος από το τέλος για να κλείσει η ιστορία όμορφα. Πολύ όμορφες περιγραφές, χαρακτήρες και ιστορία. Θα ήθελα να ήταν λίγο μεγαλύτερο για να ολοκληρωθούν ορισμένα ζητήματα που έμειναν ανοιχτά. Σίγουρα θα ξανα αγοράσω βιβλία του.
