This was such a fun romp to read. Amy Holt got fired from her regular radio host job for swearing on air. She is ready to go back to Australia when her sister's ex gets her a job at his radio station Realm FM. Only it's not like any radio station she has ever worked at. There are different dimensions or realms where people come to the radio show to interview or promote themselves. On Amy's first day she insults the whole race of Sasquatches' by calling them Bigfoot. That's only the first problem. She finds herself more and more into Ryan (her sister's ex) as time goes by.
I loved Tyrolin Puxty's Broken Doll series and this one does not disappoint. The world building is great and full.
I wasn't sure about reading this since he passed away but I found it a really good read. The fact that he narrates it as well that was a clincher. He tells his story never really blaming anyone but himself and why he could not stop doing the drugs or alcohol. But really put the emphasis on the damage it does to the body. He was very frank about many things that I didn't expect
This was a fun but very parallel universe type of book. It is part memoir but then it veers off into fiction/fantasy/mystery. Brent has a stalker who wants to kill him and sends him weird stuff in the mail. He name drops many characters (real life and in the star trek universe) so they must be in part true. I found this fun as I am a fan of Next Generation Star Trek. If you are not a fan of Next Generation or Star Trek it will probably leave you a little baffled.
This is set in 1925 Manhattan. Rory is a psychic who scries objects to determine whether they are frauds or the real thing. In comes dashing Ace trying to find out about an object. Turns out more than one person is looking for psychics to unlock a dangerous object. There are no graphic sex scenes but a few sweet scenes between Rory and Ace. I really enjoyed this and will continue the series.
This was an interesting read. It is the coming of age of a boy who has lost his parents, and then his grandfather and is at a loss as to what to do next. Then a talking cat (not everyone can hear the cat) comes to help him learn about life through a series of adventures. The book flows beautifully and it was narrated very well.
Ellie is a fake medium to help pay for her sister's care. She is enlisted by Nicholas to uncover who is pretending to be Xavier a ghost that is talking to his mother and plaguing his home in England.
There are plenty of wacky characters in this story but I especially enjoyed Vivian, the mother, and her non-hospitality manners.
I enjoyed this start of a new series and will look forward to reading more. Although where can it go now that Ellie's reason for doing all of the medium stuff is gone
This was a strange book. I almost gave up approximately 20 percent in. That's when stuff started to be more cohesive.
There is a guy who is called Father who has a lot of adopted children, and he has a library section for each of them to learn. Carolyn, who is the main character, is a bit off the wall which we learn why later. It turns out that Father made them immortal, and he is a supreme being of some sort. Carolyn gets Steve involved in her schemes and weird stuff happens. I can't tell too much or it will spoil the book.
Terra Vane lives on the other side of a portal that separates Earth from Portiside where many paranormal entities live. Terra and her werewolf partner are cops on the Portiside side of the portal. Terra uses her visions to help apprehend the criminals. Someone is dealing in a new drug that is making the more violent creatures even more violent. To top it all off, her boss sexy Cole keeps trying to keep her out of the fight.
The world building is very good. I totally enjoyed this book. It was a bit different than the usual paranormals vs human idea. I will be looking for more of this series.
A little library appears in town and middle schoolers Evan and Rafe discover that it is watched over by a big orange cat. There is some connection between the little library and the old library that burned down a long time ago. There are some ghost librarians in the story. Evan decides to discover who was responsible for burning the library down many years ago. He has a few suspects but no proof.
This was a cute fun read. I really enjoyed the ghosts and the cat's point of views, you even get a few mice points of view. I listened to the audiobook version, and it was very well narrated.
I have read a few of these books out of order but other than Molly Pink's romances it doesn't matter much. In this book a murder of a real estate agent seems accidental, but Molly is not so sure about that. The neighbors don't want a house in a cul de sac to have daily rentals. But would they kill for that? Molly and her Tarzana hookers are working on a new project for which the pattern is in the book. Molly's son invades her house with his pregnant girlfriend and takes over the whole house. I found I really wanted to smack him. Will Molly finally choose to be with?
Like usual this was a fun read but really didn't expect the ending.
I was given only a partial sample of the book. From what was sent, the pictures are really nice. Some of the charts were given and they are really nicely laid out. The one pattern they give using one of the samples is a hat which I kind of want to cast on right away. There are notes on how to pick the right yarn for colorwork. According to the Table of contents there are many patterns to choose from grouped in categories to help pick one. If you are a colorwork fan this is a great resource.
Viv is an Orc who is tired of fighting and just wants to open a coffee shop in Thune. First she has to convince everyone that they will love it. She makes friends with a succubus and finds a baker and her shop is off to success but some do not want her to succeed.
This is a strange sort of book that is hard to characterize it is sci-fi but not heavily. More of a cozy feel to it. No terrible mystery involved either. But it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. Perfect for a day you just want something feel good.
Henry Kistle starts taunting Eve about where her missing daughter's body is. Kistle is a serious psychopath who has killed many children over the years but has never been caught. Montalvo from the last book and Quinn are locked in a fight to win Eve's affections. Megan Blair a strong physic is introduced in this series without her they would never have found the bodies of so many children. I really enjoyed this one more than the last couple of books. I love the twist at the end.
Triggers: Child death and child abuse
As this is the first in this series that I have read it seems a bit slow and seemed like it could be a shorter book. But I did enjoy it in the end and will go back and read it from the beginning.
Mary and Sherlock travel to San Fransisco where Mary lived. They investigate the deaths of her parents, and it seems someone is trying to get rid of Mary as well. The story is told both in the voice of Mary and the voice of Sherlock. Making some of it a bit redundant. About halfway through the book picks up and really ramped up at the end. Which would make it a 3.5 star read for me.
Nikki Heat get a new murder of an art collector. There seems to be a lot of suspects in the beginning. Nikki is trying to keep Jameson Rook, the reporter that follows all of her cases, at bay. But he is growing on her. Fans of the show Castle can see the characters easily in this book. The beginning was a bit boring but got more interesting about halfway through. I would give it another 1/2 star for the surprise ending I didn't expect.
Jade is trying to save Kane who got injured while helping her get out of a demon dimension. But while she is trying to do that it seems Mary got some of her soul and now she has to fight to keep her soul. She has to deal with Angels and Witches and just wants to keep her soul. Her relationship with Kane is developing nicely. I wasn't sure I was enjoying this book until approximately 3/4 the way through it then I could not put it down.
This is two stories in one. One is that Lovey the AI from the first book is now in a body but her memories didn't travel over. So she has to adapt to the all the input and try to make sense of her new friends and surroundings while trying to fit in to society as well. The other is a story of survival of Jane and how she escapes her enslavement with the with the help of an AI program.
This is was so good I want to read the next book right away. I listened to it on audible and it was very well narrated as well.
