Hannah is the owner and baker of a cookie shop but on the side, she has two boyfriends Norman and Mike, and she can't decide which one is for her. Mike gets the chance to build the dream house both he and Hannah won a prize for dreaming up, but a dead body is found there, and Hannah is off trying to find the killer again. Book is full of delicious recipes, and I always wind up writing them down but never trying them.
These stories are always a fairly light fun read.
Nell Harris goes to Prague for a job but she finds out that they want her for some other reason. They found out she is a “Charmer” and want her to help save a young boy named Damien. She refuses because the last time she used her power terrible things happened. She meets Adrian, a “dark one” and gets swept away by him and trying to destroy a demon named Asmodeus.
I loved the character of Nell. She really was funny. Many references to Buffy the vampire slayer in this as well.
Odelia Poole is able to understand feline so she is able to communicate with her cats Max, Dooley, Harriet and even Max's rival Brutus. Together they help Odelia solve mysteries. Odelia finds a musician she was to interview John Paul George dead in his pool. This was a cute story. I will be looking forward to reading more of this series.
People keep disappearing every 9 years. The mysterious Slade House only shows up every 9 years. The story revolves around a pair of twins who seem to be immortal and people that are drawn to the iron door of Slade House or are looking for the door to it. But then are never seen again.
This was a strange book but it moved along quite nicely. I had previously read Cloud Atlas and it dragged so I was not sure I wanted to read this. But I am glad I was wrong.
Even though this is number six in the series you can easily pick it up in the middle of the series as I did. The KEY news team is in action as one of the TV personalities decides to show the world how easy it is to get Anthrax on his segment without permission. Then another person in the newsroom gets sick with Anthrax and dies. Was it an accident or on purpose.
I did figure out who did before the end but didn't know why until the end. Lots of twists and turns and I love the short chapters. They are like potato chips.
Rini lands in a pond behind Home for Wayward Children. She comes from the Land of Confection. She finds out that her mother Sumi died in this land before she was conceived. That is why she is starting to disappear. She must race to undo her mother's death so she can exist. This was such a fun episode in this series. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
I really enjoyed this book. It talks about how she grew up and her background as a Republican because that was what her father was and how she changed her views as she got older and became a Democrat.
I found lots of stuff I didn't know about Hillary Clinton and really want to read more about her. I really admire her breaking some glass ceilings.
This was a fun read with Gabriela being a recovery agent going around the world getting items back to their owners. When her grandmother tells her a ghost named Annie tells her to find something Gabbie winds up going around the world with her ex-husband and getting into one scrap after another. Think Stephanie Plum but able to handle guns and fight like a pro. Loved this and look forward to reading more of this series.
The story is of two factions of time travelers. The Tesla Institute and The Hollows. Both travel back and forth in time gathering important objects. We get the story through two “Rifters” Lex and Ember.
When Lex's girlfriend is killed during a mission he vows to change back time to save her. Lex and Ember must work together to piece their memories together and find out who they were before they were time traveling. I found this most interesting on how they figured it out.
I also enjoyed the two different approaches each faction uses to travel. I am looking forward to reading more of this series as it goes on.
I totally loved this book about amigurumi the creatures are not all too complicated, and it would make a great start in learning this skill. The book is divided into two parts. Part one explains what you need to start making these projects and part two are the patterns. There are full color pictures throughout the book. The creatures are so cute and the instructions are well laid out. You should already have a working knowledge of the basics of crochet before you start. But you do not have to be an expert. There is a glossary in the back of the book to help you as well. The hard part trying to figure which one I want to make first.
Trigger Warnings: Suicide and death of a sister.
Keely is 17 and grieving her twin sister who was brutally murdered. She decides she cannot live without her and also feels like she was to blame for her sister Jordan's death.
After her death she finds out the afterlife is not all she thought it would be. A reaper and demon are there to guide her until her funeral when she will find out where she will go, heaven or hell. She wants to find her sister before then.
The book was very well fleshed out. Purgatory and the interactions of the dead on the living were believable. There was a satisfactory ending to the story that I was pleased with.
This is a full color book of 44 patterns. The book shows you the picture that inspired the project which I found very quaint seeing old artifacts and a new very similar pattern. The book is divided up into three different sections
1) Norwegian Handknits, 2) Swedish Handknits, and 3) Icelandic Handknits and then has the stories that go with them. I also loved the fact that measurements were given in both imperial and metric.
I have a few projects now inspired by this book.
Briddy Flannigan is thrilled when her boyfriend Trent wants them to get a new technology implanted that is supposed to bring them even closer together. But when she starts hearing someone else instead of Trent she is very confused. Does it mean that Trent is not her soulmate? Is it the other person. Along with add her very intrusive Irish family who bug her constantly at work, at home. She cannot think straight.
The first part of the book seems a bit slow but around the 1/3 mark it picks up and then I really enjoyed the ride.
Lavington Windsor (Toni) has been raising the dead since she was a little girl. It is second nature to her. She is also a real estate agent and has been to help find an estate to a new vampires in town. She finds the vampire very sexy and they start a relationship. Someone wants the vampires to go away and Lavington gets targeted by the group as well.
Toni's attracted to Oscar but I like her relationship with Peter more. He seems much more attentive to her and her needs. Oscar is very one dimensional character but his superior Benedict Akil is more interesting to me.
It was a fun read even though it was rather violent. Lots of heads flying off. LOL.
Review: Wade and the rest of the gang survived the first book and are now rich and powerful. But Halliday was not done. He hid something wonderous in his vault that is a headset that will change the world. It enables full virtual reality, taste, sight, hearing etc. Wade screws up his love life with Samantha then throws himself basically into exile and into Oasis game. Addicted more than ever to it. He has a new quest and of course new dangers.
I enjoyed the sequel more than I expected to based on the past reviews which is why I waited so long to read it. The beginning was very description heavy but it was needed.
Dakota Frost is a magical tattooist. She has received a request for a tattoo from a werewolf who wants to contain his wolf and it pays very well. She winds up involved in the world of vampires and werewolves and other shape changers including a young teenage tiger shifter who is fascinated with her. There is also a serial killer skinning people with magical tattoos that she is being questioned about. I really enjoyed the different world that is in this book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Peabody, Emerson and their precocious son Rames are off on an excavation site in Egypt. Rames is a handful always going off and getting into stuff. I think the child is 3 but he acts like 30. There is a mummy case of which Emerson has declared worthless but it is stolen anyway. Peabody thinks there is more to it and gets herself involved in trying to find out just what is going on there. There are clashing religious leaders as well. Are they involved in the thefts or just warring with each other.
Another delightful installment of this series.
Eric Brewster is so happy that they are going to join his friends at the Summer resort town, his friends go to every year. His family rents a house that has been boarded up for years called Pinecrest. Once there they go exploring and find an old cottage filled with odd stuff. They always seem to lose time while in there. Coming out hours later and not realizing how long they were there.
Strange murders start happening in the town and the boys start having nightmares about killing people, only they all have the same dreams. Could the room have anything to do with the murders?
The story constantly grew and I was never bored. There were the boys who are bullying the three friends but that is only part of the story. There were a couple of triggers like the death of a cat and a dog, but they were quick and not too drawn out.
Ivy Kincaid is being sent to Nocturne Falls to marry Hank Merrow from a rival werewolf clan. Even though this is an arranged marriage to help call a truce between the two clans, both Ivy and Hank decide to make it work. Ivy has a secret though and knows this will all blow up when Hank finds it out.
They get along wonderfully and are very compatible. Ivy is as honest as she can be with Hank and tells him stuff her father told him not too. I really enjoyed this story. It is light and fun with some sexy times in it as well.
Alena is dying from a fatal illness that comes from “Supes”. But there is a cure. Turn into a supernatural being by Merlin. She is turned by Merlin but she isn't just any ordinary Supernatural creature. She is different and gains the attention of the Greek Gods but in particular Achilles who wants to kill all the monsters.
When we meet Alena is a very mild well manner baker. She needs to come into her supernatural being to survive. I really enjoyed this story. I have had it forever and finally read it, now I want to read the rest of the Trilogy.
Danica Waterhouse is a witch able to fix things using her magic. Titus is a baker with a shop a couple of blocks over from her shop. When Danica fixes Titus's oven sparks fly between them. Titus has been hurt many times in love so he holds back a bit. Danica has been told that she will lose her magic if she falls in love with a mortal.
This was a fairly fun romance. It was a bit fluffy but sometimes that's what you need. Reminds me of a Lifetime Movie but I enjoyed it because sometimes you need something light.
