Nice idea, poorly executed. I felt each event was rushed, the love story predictable, and I much prefer characters described by more than their skin tone.

A fabulous story, magical and real all at once.

I also discovered that the perfect music to listen along to whilst reading is the Bridgerton soundtrack.

Absolutely glorious read that I managed in 3 days - exactly what I needed after the funk of my failed 2020 reading challenge. The story of a wild girl in a small town and the journey taken by a disgraced and damaged child psychologist to fix her may have been predictable but thoroughly engaging, and that's all I ever ask for.

Interested to read so many negative reviews, comparing it to Hannah's other works and finding it lacking. I have The Nightingale in my bookshelf, so clearly I am in for a treat.

The first book in a long time I have ever finished and immediately gone back to re-read the first chapter.

A wonderfully written story of love. Chapter 1 hits with a sledgehammer once you've finished the book.

A well deserved 5 stars.
