Weird. Loved the first book I read by Markin, this one is rather boring.

A little unsatisfying. Plot somewhat convoluted and contrived.

Geen fijne sfeer. DNF.

Very well written, but the lonelinesses in this book are killing. Thank god it ends well. Like The Unseen World, it is drawn out too long. Too much suffering. The fact I had to keep reading both books nonetheless, where usually I would chuck stories so bleak, goes to show you something.

Great performances on the audiobook by Kirby Heyborne and Keith Szarabajka.

Godalmighty, what a dreary story. Quit at 4/5. Could not be bothered with these flaky characters and their flaky affaires anymore.

Fascinating (crime) story. Well written. Great characterisation. Great plot. A pretty serious book, no humor, but mesmerizing. I don’t think I have ever read anything like it.

I listened to an audiobook. It’s a little hard to get who’s who at first, because of multiple POV’s, but hang in there, after a while it gets better.

A new favorite writer.

Great descriptions of thoughts and feelings that usually stay undescribed. Nostalgic. A very good writer, however, the book moves very slowly. Too slowly. Not my cup of tea normally. Near the last third I started skipping less relevant scenes. The plot is very nice, too. It all works out in a way.

This is a short novel. A mother of the bride - a typical Anne Tyler protagonist: full of doubt but not insecure - rethinks her own marriage and divorce. She is prompted by the unexpected arrival of her ex (plus cat) as a house guest. Laugh out loud funny at times. Warm.

All Eddie Flynn legal thrillers are great fun. Fast paced with clever plots.

After the first few chapters I got disappointed. Too many themes and overly constructed. Flat characters. We learn little about the Gilgamesh epos and also little about the Jezidis. The water droplet theme is a trick to connect it all.

I love this series, that has an autistic young woman as the protagonist - without ever mentioning the word. It is a fairy tale / mystery / love story / feel good series. With lots of humor.

This paticular books ending was a little drawn out, but otherwise it was cleverly constructed. And the last one in the series, I suspect.

I listened to audiobooks, very well performed by Lauren Ambrose.

A little disappointing after The God of the Woods. The story is too drawn out. Lovely characters though. Still a very special writing voice.

Mooi verhaal, hoewel erg pc.

Typical male action story. All action, hardly anything else. Diverting and good in its kind.

Really well written.

DNF. Verschrikkelijk gedweep met de royals, geen vaart.

Iets minder dan de eerdere.

Great plot. Good writing. Listened to an audiobook.

Braaf, maar verslavend.

DNF. Unpleasant armosphere.

Sentimental, drawn out, no humor at all.

DNF. Too much like the first one. Writing is not great. The first book in the series was educational though.
