Telling instead of showing... the entire book!

One of the better Wayward Children books! I really liked this one.

I guess this is what happens when you have a tiny nice idea, but no plot, yet feel you HAVE to publish something. Fill it with endless repetitions and illustrations to make it look like a full novel when it's not even got a novella's worth of actual content...

Underwhelming in every way.

I see why this is everyone's favourite Wayfarer book. It is now mine as well. :)

I didn't think I'd end up loving this as much. The beginning was a bit slow and I thought - although I adore Maggie Stiefvater's writing - that this story just wasn't for me. But then I read on and suddenly, I found myself totally taken with the island of Thisby and its inhabitants, both human and equine (and feline... Puffin grew on me).

And that ending was too much for my heart. I want to go back and re-read the book right now, it was so good!

Go ahead, rip my heart out.

This must be the laziest “Ethiopian inspired” Jane Eyre “retelling” ever.
The world building is nonexistent, the characters are one-dimensional and contradictory, the plot makes no sense, it has insta-love, no magic system and no conflict. Also, so much artificial DRAMA!

The beginning was fun because Magnus and Andi had some nice banter but this book is a first draft at best, not a finished novel.

Also, keep your Catholic preachiness out of my YA, thank you.

I have no idea why I gave this only four stars when I first read it.

Another brilliant novel by Okorafor. This is one I'll reread a lot!

Nowhere near as good as Mexican Gothic.
