This mystery thriller was neither mysterious nor thrilling. I feel like Halley Sutton would have been better off writing this as a family drama beacause it seems the social commentary on Hollywood was her main priority. I may have enjoyed this had she come at this idea from a different angle, but by attempting to make this a thriller she massively missed the mark.

Trigger warnings for: sexual abuse of minors and eating disorders

I didn't think I would enjoy this book as I hate the podcast trope, but the way it was worked in this time was fantastic and not in your face. The twists might be predictable to seasoned thriller readers, but it was still an enjoyable time.

I didn't finish this, but I'm still giving it a 2.5 because the idea is very interesting and the execution isn't too bad. However, it started getting boring about halfway through.

John Marrs is my favorite author, hands down

Everybody said to read it for the ending, but even the ending didn't save it. I'm sorry, this was a slog.

You won't be able to put this down. The way the author switches povs is unlike any I've ever read.

DNF. I tried but couldn't power through this mess.

This is probably a 4.5, but rounding up to a 5.
John Marrs does it again!

3.5, rounded up. If you can majorly suspend your disbelief, you will love this book. Especially if you are looking for the “Good for her!” trope.

THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD! I am not typically a fan of character studies, but this really hit the nail on the head. I need a map of how everybody is connected.

THIS BOOK IS WONDERFUL. I am not into political commentary in most cases, but this was so over-the-top yet realistic that it hit perfectly. I loved all of the references and puns.

Another easy 5 stars for John Marrs. I have read a LOT of domestic thrillers this year, but this one was truly unique. The relationship dynamics in this book are unmatched and will keep you guessing.

“Surely Farmer Jake wouldn't eat a pig for Thanksgiving!”

Jokes on your, Turkey. I prefer ham on thanksgiving.

If this was half the length I would've loved it

I have never hated a main protagonist more.

I would love it if the twist wasn't so obvious from the beginning.

God, this book has the worst pacing of any book I've ever read. The twists were completely predictable, and I was mostly bored throughout.

DNF. Easily one of the worst books I've attempted to read all year.

Swiftie Book Club July

I'm getting really burnt out on domestic thrillers.

Unfortunately this one missed the mark a tiny bit. Read The One and The Passengers instead, they are both easy 5 stars.

No hesitation on 5/5 for this one

Despite really disappointing Part 3, I still have to give this book a 5 star. READ IT! READ IT!
