What. An. Ending.

There is a scene describing the torture and mutilation of a cat halfway through.

Also carries numerous editing issues, missing sentences, and unbelievable character actions.

A tale of strange immortality. Layers that Frank Herbert fans will love.

This is not good cheese.

Good premise, but I have a strong feeling that if I slept through half an hour, I wouldn't have noticed.

This is the best cheese in the world.

A story about a first nations band in northern Canada, the narrator is PERFECT.

I'm not a court politics fan, so I was hanging on by my fingernails through parts. That said, it was worth it. A wonderful world, magic system, and characters.

Very full of cliches and tropes. This came highly recommended, but that recommendation should be directed to young readers who are new to stories of this scope.

I don't know that I've ever been so enthralled with a book, or sworn at one so often. A stunning read.

Gallows humor brought to adventure fantasy. This absolutely hooked me. Recommended for fans of Glen Cook and The Black Company.

Didn't find any stories in here that interested me, and wasn't able to finish any of them.

Too much jumping around in the timeline for my taste, and world building that didn't suit me. Seems to be written for reading aloud, so keep that in mind.

Not for me.

I'm not a big fantasy kind of person, but I love alternate histories. This feels like a perfect blend of the two.

Something is interrupting ships that attempt FTL travel, and trapping them in an unknown system. An array of alien civilizations are bottled together, and not only manage to stay alive, but thrive, integrate, fight, struggle, and bond.

This is a prime example of science fiction in the Grand Sense. A wonderful, huge “what if”, and a running exploration of the universe the “if” creates.

Even better the second time around!

The further you get into the story, the better it gets. I've never read such a convincing depiction of the way time can slip by as one ages. Bear in mind that it was written in 1949, and is shaded by the gender ideas and roles of the time.
