This was a great fast paced read with suspense and intense romance, with dub-con, angst, and hurt/comfort elements. When one man is caught and taken prisoner by the cartel he was photographing, he struggles against his feelings for the boss and what plays out is a bit of a mystery/thriller but with heavy smut elements. A fun read for a rainy day afternoon! 5 ⭐
This was a hard book to read, as it's set in Nigeria and discusses themes like polygamy and cheating. I'm not the biggest fan of books with cheating in it. Though this was an important read, expanding my knowledge about the world and helping me learn things I wouldn't otherwise know about because hey America, aren't we doing great in the education system?!
I read Thrum last year. Didn't realize this was the same author, figured it out at the end of the book, and now am highly attentive to this author. Their books are captivating, smutty, mysterious and intense. This was a sci-fi with a slight twist about the planet, and the people that inhabit it. 5 ⭐
I realized I started hate reading this about halfway through, near page 200. The siblings are toxic to one another. Lying, betrayals, attempted murder. All in the name for tradition in securing a bog wife. I didn't connect with a single character, and while the writing is lyrical and the story had strong potential the payout just wasn't quite the mark for me. Hate's a strong term, more intense dislike is accurate in reading this book. The writing was good. It drew me in. But otherwise, I didn't have much of a good time. 3.5 ⭐
Overall, good writing but I was bored throughout most of the stories. The first story was a depressing trainwreck for the main character and the rest weren't that much better. As such this book was filled with run-on sentences, which is not my cup of tea. It was certainly very dated but as that's the time period, such can't be helped. 3.5 ⭐ rounded up generously.
