This book was so cute and also so funny absolutely gobbled it up.
I love a good second chance/childhood friend story.
What made me absolutely fall in love with this book was the fact that the FMC is curvy and owns it even though she maybe feels doubtful or insecure sometimes and i feel like i can relate to that. The FMC was written so beautifully and the fact that she got stronger and more secure in herself was so fantastic to read and gave me hope for myself and the insecurities i have.
An absolute banger of a book combining humour, comedy and some awkwardness in a beautiful mix.
Might have to re-read it like immediately
This book was way up my alley, the world building and introductions were a little slow for me personally but fantasy book are like that so thats normal.
However i absolutely loved the fact that throughout the book you get to learn that the MMC is not in fact a total asshat which i thought in the beginning and the evolution of the FMC's and the MMC's relationship is chef's kiss
Its a good story, i really enjoyed the beginning of this book but i felt like the flow of the book got a little to ”choppy” with all the time jumps in the end i had a little trouble knowing where in the timeline we were.
Also the ”traveler” didn't really make sense in my mind for this story it only made me confused.
But overall a good book, that i enjoyed to read.
Holy mother of god, so this book, especially the ending was a slap in the face of action, betrayal, happiness and sorrow.
The character development? Chef's kiss
The action? Chef's kiss
The plot? Chef's kiss
I feel speechless, this ending shattered my heart.
But its also such a good ending because all i want to do is IMMEDIATELY start reading onyx storm to see if everything solves itself or if its royally screwed
Such a cute book, I absolutely loved the dynamic between the MMC and the FMC.
The way everything played out in the book was fabulous, the fact that the FMC is independent and strong willed is such a nice touch and I wish more books had these FMC's. I also liked the fact that the MMC seems like a chill dude like ”oh she thinks I'm an actor... guess I'm an actor now” its so funny.
I do wish the ending was longer it felt rushed and somewhat just snipped instead of being wrapped up. Maybe if the book was 50 pages longer just to be able to round out the ending more. But at the end of the day I got an HEA so I'm happy
Wow oh wow this book is so good, i usually read romantasy books so this was a different vibe.
I really enjoyed the way this book invoked so many different feelings throughout the entire book.
All through the book i was trying to figure out if lenora was innocent or actually guilty. This book is so well written and it does such a good job of giving you the truth but its kind of hidden by other things so you do not connect the dots until the very end.
I would recommend this book to many people even if you do not usually read psychological thrillers purely because of the last 80 ish pages that was a crazy ending and suspense filled to the maximum. A true page turner
A little slow in the beginning with all of the world building but that is almost always expected but it quickly turned so good,
I listened to the audiobook i got a little sad Teddy wasn't narrating until the last chapter and the bonus chapters.
But man o man this is a good book and i question myself why i didn't start this book earlier.
The tension between Violet and Xaden... that was pure gold.
Now i understand why everyone on booktok talks about Xaden, boy oh boy... That is one hot guy especially getting Xaden's pov in the bonus chapters i absolutely loved all of it.
Overall a good book especially the character development both Enzo and Kelly went trough, i really liked the fact that we got to see them working through their issues instead of skipping all that with a time jump and then they magically got better.
Although this book might've needed another pass with a proof reader due to some misspellings in both names and other words, sometimes it was a little hard to keep the flow of the book i had to re-read some sentences to figure out what was happening.
Also love a good HEA and this book delivered on that point
A very short and sweet story, but i did feel like i got plopped down in the middle of a story and there were no conflicts regarding Shannon.
I feel like this would have been a 5 star read if it was at least double the length so there could be more explanation of the characters and relationships and some small conflict to make the ending that much sweeter
Holy, i wish i could erase my memory to be able to read this book again for the first time.
It was beautifully written and the character developments and the relationships were just amazing, i loved reading about Nia and how she becomes more confident and more unapologetically herself.
I absolutely loved the slow burn and the enemies to lovers aspects of this book and it made the ending just so worth it.
I felt multiple times throughout this book that i needed to clutch my imaginary pearls and putting down my book because some stuff was CRAZY.
This book is a solid 10/5 in my opinion!
P.S. I would not complain if the authors decided to give us 5 more books about Nia and what happened after this book
This book is so good, the development of the story is immaculate. In my opinion it got a little ”stale” about halfway through the book but it might have been me having a slight reading slump so i paused the book and read something else and came back and continued reading this and that was the right move because holy moly this book got way better i finished almost the rest of the book in one day.
I really like the character developments and how the story is unfolding my heart is a little torn on Nia's love interests i do not know how to feel in that department. I really like Raphael but i don't know, he had some A-H tendencies in the beginning of this book.
And i really hope that the ”dream stalker” will have more character development, he is such an interesting villain and i have a feeling he is hiding so much in that head of his.
ARC Review — Where to begin? This is my first time doing an ARC read and I will say I am super happy that Queen Of Vengeance was the book that popped that cherry.
This book is a pure masterpiece, the characters are so well written, I did miss the ”gang” of friends from time to time. But I'm not too sad that we got to focus 100% on lux and slate!
Also Jessica, how could you do this to my heart? I want 20 more books on lux and slate, i absolutely fell in love with them. Their banter, the spice and the fact that slate would burn the world for lux is just the cherry on top. We also have to talk about them plot twist, I really had to put down my tablet and breathe a few seconds because miss ma'am that was a rollercoaster. I had my guess on who it was, but it still shook me up to get it confirmed. Slight spoiler (I hate carter with a passion and would like to jump into the book so I can end him myself. Everything he did to lux had me fuming)
So if anyone is wondering if you should read this, ask yourself this: Do you like banter and angst blended together? Do you like spice? Do you want to get a glimpse into the life of a socialite as well as the life of a mechanic and ”bad boy”? Can your heart handle plot twists that make you pause for a sec?
If yes, then honey RUN and read this book!
Now.. Jessica, you are an absolute genius and such a talented author and I am so so so happy and thankful that I got to read this book and I cannot wait for the next one and I already have a feeling its gonna be another masterpiece!
This was a masterpiece, although i do not entirely agree with walker on some of her actions and decisions but i can understand why she did those choices. In my opinion this book shows what lies can do to relationships and as well as you cannot judge a person based on one action. If you like some angst and revenge plots and some spice to top it all off, you have to read this book it is a 10/10 and i wish i could read it again for the first time i will be re-reading this one soon
