Ug! It's good!
Spoiler
I think I enjoyed this book because it did not have a happy ending. I like books that make me feel something and I felt her dilemma throughout the book. It's hard to put into words but the feeling of me wanting something else to happen in a book makes it good. I am rooting for the love but be it doesn't happen gives me all the feels. Can't wait to watch the movie.
It's not a five star read because it wasn't profound and deep. It's not a book that I have quotes from or a book I will cherish forever. So a strong 4 stars. Which is still high in my opinion.
I wanted to love this but for some reason, I didn't. Took me a while to get through the book and I didn't find myself wanting to pick it up. I feel like I am the exception so please pick this book up yourself and see if it's something you would like. It was not bad at all, it was just okay, which is ok.. I think it helped having seen the tv show so I had faces to the names and I understood the magic system. If I did not watch the show, I would be pretty lost and I would recommend reading Shadow & Bone first. In theory, I like heist stories but it just didn't give me the feeling I was looking for. I will most likely finish the duology and read Crooked Kingdom because I would like to know how it ends, but it might be a while as I have so many other books I am looking forward to reading. Again, it's a good book, just not as amazing as I thought it would be based on the review rating.
Pretty good book, definitely lit a fire under me and for that I am grateful. There are some repetitive things, but you have to hear the same thing multiple times and ways before it can really sink in. A lot of takeaways and ideas to implement! Recommended for those looking for motivation. And highly recommend the audiobook as the author reads it and adds a little commentary to his book.
This is a true 4 star read. I think it was a subtle kind of thriller. I like that it leaves you questioning what you just read similar to if you listened to a podcast or watched a documentary. I also appreciate that it didn't follow the same typical thriller format yet it was still a page turner. I'd recommend this to true crime fans, podcast and documentary fans.
⭐3.5 ⭐
Good book. Lots of twists and turns and guessing what ready happened which is the mark of a good thriller. The author does a good job of making you have emotions for the different characters. It's not always easy to write in a way that brings them out. As much as I liked the book, I am glad it's over because I was starting to feel things I shouldn't haha. I'd recommend for those who likes being a detective reader.
3.5..
It could be partially because I listened to this book and sometimes audiobooks don't capture my attention like physically holding a book. I really like the time travel aspect and some twists along the way. I will say that I am not a romance girlie at all so I feel like 3.5 is a really high rating. I also feel like I have confirmed that I need a little fantasy with my romance in order to enjoy it and although this has some time travel aspect to it, it's really a romance book and for that, I couldn't get too deep into it. If you like romance I think this would be a great book for you! It's very “romantic” and sweet and has some real life issues we can all relate to. Also, do not read while hungry
This book was fast paced the dialogue was really good and witty. I like that the main character is strong physically and emotionally and she is able to make decisions for herself and not just be a lovesick puppy. (At least at this point) What I did not like about this book is that the end wrapped up super fast. I feel like a little more time could have been spent on that, also more time spent on the test she had to go through. The author only said what it was and the results of the test. I felt good while reading this book felt like the start of a new romance and the gettingess that comes with it. I also felt the tension between the two love interests. I feel like this book taught me to always be strong and to never give up. It taught me to keep fighting to the end especially for something that is important to you. Also to choose for yourself and don't make decisions just to benefit other people. My favorite character was Celaena she is a strong female character and she's smart and I can think for herself.
