Wow. I'm not one to usually read historical fiction, but once I started this one, I couldn't put it down. It starts with multiple storylines, all unique and interesting that converge in the middle of the book and continue to the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction from the WW2 era.
Unexpectedly good read!
This genre is not my typical pick, but alas, this was my book of the month for book club. While the beginning was a bit slow for me, I'm guessing because Scuba is not something that interests me, once I got a 3rd of the way into the book the storyline picked up wonderfully. About 2\3 through the book you get perspectives from WW2 which thrilled me. Then when the story ended, all of my questions were answered in the epilogue, which really made the read worth it.
You know, I try really hard to like a book. If that fails, I try to at least finish it. Couldn't do it in this case. What presented as a neat sci-fit premise ended up taking half of the book to get out of the day to day life of the main character. On that note, I usually love a bad-boy, dont care character.. but he just reminded me of the 35 year olds who wear fedoras and live at Moms.
I tried. You should try to too as my review may not be the same for you.
I absolutely LOVED this book. This book covers the perspectives of 4 different women after Roe vs Wade is overturned and Adoption is not allowed if you aren't in a married hetero relationship. One character is a Mother of two children in a miserable marriage. One is a pregnant teenager. One is a single woman who desperately wants to become pregnant. One is a woodsy woman who can provide abortions. It's a very thought provoking book, and I loved it up until the end. If you're looking for a different kind of read, check it out!
