This went by quickly - then I had to return the book and wait for it again at my library. I found that this author was interviewed by How to be awesome at your job - so if you want a short version of it I would highly rec. listening to that interview.
Good book and it is my first book on a negotiating topic but I feel it has some good merit with public workers especially!
This book is closer to a 3.5.
If you like drama, a character who makes mistakes, with suspended disbelief, and a crime/suspense that comes to the surface this would be good one to try.
I didn't like this book.
I thought the witch stuff was more religious than I care for - so it came off as the power of thoughts and prayers total woo woo. This seems to scare kids when she uses the oouiji board and there are a lot of scenes like this when you have to suspend you disbelief A LOT.
This is not the witch journey and perspective I'm on ...so I'm trying not to judge it harshly. I wish there was actually some more culture or info or witch topics in here but idk I just felt empty if you were out of the loop. If this is someone's first witch protagonist it's not a strong one to learn some ideas or understanding.
The character isn't a typical mother - both sister and her own children play a mothering role towards her. This is basically her character is being self absorbed. She makes mistakes and dislikes other women but does grown at the very end and since you had to wait so long for this it is not a very satisfying growth.
BUT if you are big into the drama it could work?
Many reviews call her a bad mom - I kinda disagree with this because I feel like the children are written in as plot/decorations. Similar to fridge women, I think they are just there as an attempt to build her character and not be characters.
Eh, it was just a meh read. I did this for the libby library read! The narrator was great!
This book I got for free using my library - I did the audio on Libby! (The narrations were excellent!)
This is a long book (about 17? hours on audio) and it was all really worth it! I had to take several breaks to complete this book because the content was so heavy and also because I needed time to absorb the content.
I learned a lot from this book and really has a nice scope of Black American history - the history of america- and really has changed my perspectives in several aspects. This was a much needed read and one of my favorites of the year.
This was a nice read - short that can be finished in a couple of days.
I honesty don't remember a ton of these strategies but the one that I have been doing from this book is doing dishes everyday and it has made my life easier. I've been able to just fill the dish washer and clean them - so instead of having a full sink I have a full dish washer and that's not a problem!
I'd say a lot of it was practical so give it a read and pick a strategy that may work for you!
The red scare turned pink with this re-imagining of Snagglepuss. It works really well because I can hear snagglepuss' voice and easily imagine him as a Oscar Wilde/Tennessee Williams type of play-write. He blends really well into the red-scare with artists being blacklisted and unable to find work, the cold war (atomic bomb), along with history of LGBT+ doing a bit of a feature on stonewall at that time, and just some interesting bits on hanna-barbera cartoons. That's why I put it also in the historical fiction - it also has some nice details at the end of the book.
It was just a really interesting idea that I think could have worked if the art was better to portray the story.
The story I thought was pretty dramatic and ok. The art really did not keep my interest - I was disappointed that the entire graphic novel was in this style - truly everyone looked pretty creepy.
The cover art style was so good and unique- vibrant with the colors and such a great stylistic take. I was glad the art from the covers were included.
I really feel in love with the art style, the expression, and the ease of the characters. They were super easy to like and I was rooting for them all the way through their jouney to return stolen objects.
I like how the two love interests got to know each other and when they discovered each others secrets that it was out of understanding and not judgement. Very refreshing. This was a great story to read and I'm so happy that it came my way at the library! Easy one of my new favorites!
This is my first babysitter's book!
There was a lot of nice effort put into this book to display sign and learn about signing too! I liked the conflict between brother sister, the effort the babysitter put in and her insights about how she uses her body and how ASL also uses the body. I thought the sign name of “J”-dancing was also cute and fitting!
Nice read and lots of care went into it too! Awesome!
Very to the point finance - maybe a better read for someone who's a little more familiar with finances. This is some good information but I think some of it has missed it's mark - such as moving back in with your family is not an option for some. It does provide some viewpoints in marriage and divorce which think is nice to see. So, a bit of a hit and miss and also to the point - this may not be for everyone.
I wouldn't rec. for a first time finance book read.
Insightful and compelling read. As I was looking up Jennette I discovered we are a year apart, this made my connection with her deepen.
Some good revelations about Hollywood and growing up and spending your childhood in this environment and also a toxic home. I'm glad she was able to write this and share with others and share her healing.
I remember the episode of Malcolm in the middle she was on.. u wonder how many times I saw her?
This book has great ferret information and I would rec. to those who have the animal or are researching. Good information and general great overview!
I took a star off because I can not stand the voice/tone of this book! It's not a very serious tone - it's a friendly furbaby tone - which is maybe for some people but not for me. I think it took something away from the book.
