It's very rare for recent romance books to have my attention from start to finish like this ....I am in awe of the compelling prose
I wasn't exhausted or annoyed with the causal way some parts of this book went and the slow burn romance ..OMG YESSSSSS UGH...THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT
for a debut novel this is good , this is REALLY good, I'm really impressed with her engaging monologues as well....definitely a top 5 read this year
As usual Pierce brown continues to impress
I would admit I liked morning star a lot more than this , and this one felt a bit too much a filler novel before the grand finale which would probably be in two books , either way I'm very much into the new characters especially ephraim
I enjoyed the fact that Sevro for once in this entire series can see past the blind loyalty, you have kids and a wife now both must take precedence in every action you take which I'm so glad he didn't forget
I very much looks forward to meeting Atalantia au Grimmus , if she is the leader of the syndicate I cam only imagine how brutal she is in person
That aside, the pacing was great as is all RR books, I weirdly enjoyed Lyria's POV even tho she's not a teenager and I feel she has something to offer despite her age
I do want to see more of victra and Virginia in dark age and more of Pax and electra of course ...this was a good read ...loved it
Kerri really is a gifted writer ... I enjoy her description so much and I think she's one of the most talented writers in the YA genre right now also one of the most underrated
Unto the plot of the book ...I liked how basic it was... witches, princes of hell , the devil ...a soul for a soul and all of that .. but what I liked the most was how engaging this was from the start and tbh the twist at the end wasn't something I expected ...I really thought envy would be the one to get the most out of the chaos but that didn't seem to be the case
The characters are pretty good, I kinda wished I saw more of vittoria seeing as she was the adventurous twin but the few pages with her were interesting as well
I want to know more about Nonna in book two and her history with the gate , likewise I want to know why wrath lied in the end cos I think she didn't quite elaborate on this too much ....it was a good read ...I thoroughly enjoyed this
My queen delivered again
Where to start?...I can say until the last 100 or so pages I really had mixed feelings about this book starting with if this was a 3.5/4 star rating ...seems I adjusted last minute
Moving along, Joe's prose is the most fascinating thing about this book I've read a lot of fantasy books to realise most people enjoy dense prose that give you a headache or they are simply Sarah j mass there's not much in between
But Joe is truly gifted in telling so much with so little (that's how best I can describe his art) ....I can say I didn't care for all the main characters and that's something I'm not very used to but the ones I liked I really look forward to seeing them grow through out the series (Glokta and Jezal)
This was a good read even tho the first 200 pages nearly made fall into a coma , the violence and the introduction of ferro made things better for me ....I look forward to before they are hanged
This is by far the best book in the series ...it had everything I wanted in an adult romance from the yearning to the smut to cute moments ...the touch of Russian crime Lords and the killings made it sweeter
It felt so good to see gianna ...Ugh ..my girl, I absolutely enjoyed ...definitely one of those unforgettable adult books ...5
Gianna was always an intriguing character right from the start and tbh up until the last 30 or so pages I thought I would give this a 3/5 star rating
But something just changed in the end ...I liked that Christian's love for her was greater than the pain of retelling the misfortunes of his childhood and also revelling his personality disorder
The tension was exciting from the start, I liked the pacing I loved that elena and nico were introduced again ...it was a really interesting read
It was a good debut and I enjoyed the latter part of the book a lot
I can say for certain it didn't start at the pace I was expecting, the plot twist wasn't that much of a twist tbh and I think that kind of killed my zeal to finish this book on time
The main characters try to uplift the script but it doesn't work so well , Devon is pretty decent as an MC, Amaka is brilliant I loved her POVs
In the end the writing didn't really do much for me , the pacing was poor and it just didn't do enough for my standards of a good dark academia
Not often do I read dark academia and even if I did read them I never quite expect them to be this fascinating
The plot and the writing style are very impressive, I find myself for most part of the book more inclined to want to share my views with the writer herself ...like what Is this book based on? Is it solely your ideas ?....is it partly influenced by other books that twist human experiences a bit with magical abilities ?? So many questions really
Her characters are so absorbing which Is what I enjoyed the most for part of this book, the plot is fairly simple and not going all the way to over complicate the situations of their world ( which is another thing I find very interesting )
There's much to be desired in book 2 ...I want to see more from the character development but for now this book did a good job laying the foundation and as for revealing Atlas' true intentions at the end , My goodness that is quite something uno ....I look forward to book 2 ...this was a great read
She really doesn't disappoint does she ??
I am over the moon with how well she articulated everything wrong with the justice system when it comes to domestic violence...I live in a country that doesn't even acknowledge it exists even if you have all the proof in the world ...my heart goes out to women who have had to struggle in their marriages like Iris did with caleb or relationships if they're not wed ...I hope you find courage, strength to overcome the pain and the shame ...God be with you
Back to this impressive piece of literature ...her writing is like silk as always, the side characters do really well to elevate the story , I enjoyed the occasional banter between the characters everything ties up well in the end ...its a really good book ...thank you for this 5
Kennedy Ryan is the writer ever modern day author looking to make it in the NA/ ROMANCE genre should look up to
She is incredible.....the way she writes about the connections between people is unlike anything I ever read when it comes to romance ( this is except the classics in English Lit) ...I'm truly over the moon with kimba's story
I'm glad she had her happy ending ...this was such a good book to unwind I loved it ...highly recommended
INCROYABLE
That is all I can say I couldn't even say it in English cos it doesn't hold the same strength ....pierce is a masterful storyteller
From darrow capture to his rise to luna to reclaim everything for his dead wife, for his mother, brother and the rest of his howlers for his people ....pierce has been great with pacing, the writing us so compelling I love his use of metaphors and his ability to keep you suspense I mean for 5 plus pages I really thought sevro died I couldn't breathe....sneaky bastard
I'm impressed I honestly thought it couldn't get better than golden son but it did ...this is sci-fi royalty as far as I am concerned ....INCROYABLE
WHAT THE FUCK???
the last 3 chapters made me realise that pierce doesn't intend to let darrow have a moments peace even with all the lies ...bro what???
This is so much better than the debut novel, the new characters are great and tbh I expected some of his friends to betray him but the final one ...that is just cruel , I love the roman influence that touches every accept of this story and I am a sucker for a anything roman or Greek both myths and historical so this is like heaven to me
So much of this book tells me darrow still has a lot to learn he might be good tactician and have a bit of morality left in him but there's still so much I feel he's yet to understand about the faction he currently lives in
Morning star will be brutal I cannot wait to read it ..this is insane OMG
“As long as there is love and memory , there is no true loss” - City of heavenly fire by cassandra clare
I cannot tell you how much this book pushed me to the edge ...I finally cried incase you were wondering
As someone who has experienced loss of a dear one I know how crushing grief can be ...this books felt like someone was pouring a bucket of water over my head every single time ...her words literally washed over me
This was such a good read, her writing is so dreamy and her like she expresses her reader's emotions in very short sentences that carry a lot to think about
A really good read ...5
I have to say that I am in awe of this book...F.C Yee does a fantastic job of making a written avatar verse character carry as much suspense and cohesive writing /plot as the series we all know and love
Before now kyoshi was a favourite of mind from the few glimpses we got from the show in 3 seasons and I can tell after ready about her background I absolutely worship her ...the writing is so good, the description of the techniques for each of the bending is outstanding and I enjoyed the little bit of romance it had
I look forward to the next book ...this was incredible...I wish us avatar fans could get a Toph beifong novel that tells us the story of her life as chief of police while raising her daughters ...5 stars
This is such a beautiful story of resilience, family, love and determination
I am in awe of madeline's writing my goodness she is a sensational writer ...Christ
Crice's story holds both sorrow and joy in equal measure , spent half her life fighting off the stink of her selfish family and paying for having a kind heart but in the end that drew her towards some of the most interesting characters in Greek mythology odyssey being one of them
I'm glad she had children to surround her home and a husband that came to love her for who she is and not her blood or bloodline ...proper 5 star read ...this is definitely one of my favourite books ever
