I haven't been much of a play reader in my life but I will say one thing ...Shakespeare is incredibly gifted
Cleopatra and antony like any other tragic couple in William's books show profound adoration for each other you could almost feel it through the pages, I loved how much his side characters contribute heavily to the strength of his play
(Forgive me for I cannot spell such names at this time ).
Caesar plays the antagonist pretty well and I can't help but wonder with the mention of brutus and caias if this isn't a sequel to julius caesar another tragedy .
His writing is exceptional as always and the relationship between the lovers and their trusted advisers is one dialogue I enjoyed as well, overall this was a sad but yet enjoyable read ...I loved it and I recommend this to any Shakespeare beginner
Not gonna lie...starting this book I wasn't exactly thrilled cos I'm not ryke's biggest fan but I love daisy ..a lot
I think maybe more than lily, Rose is my number 1 no question about that but I think I enjoyed this book more cos of how brutally honest she had to be with her family in the end ....especially with her mother ( God that felt good), it can be suffocating having controlling parents and I liked how much rose and the rest of the merry band accepted her reasons for being quiet so long an giving her the chance to explain
I'm happy about the development of course especially with Loren bless his fucking heart , but most especially i think I needed this book because of the Hales ...so much bad blood was there for a long time it felt good to have them in a good place again ...especially for Ryke and his dad ....I enjoyed this
A pretty good introduction to the series ...I was a bit scared this was the selection all over again I was going to throw away the book immediately
Thankfully it wasn't....a bit predictable at the end but it has a good plot, the pacing is surprisingly good and the writing was decent
Cal and maven are very interesting characters and I really enjoyed the court politics between the various houses ...it was a decent read all round
I'm still in awe of Rose calloway
It's 6:00am in my country and I cannot stop thinking of how awesome she is , Connor yes you get the boyfriend of the year award , I honestly don't think I can count the number of books I've read that had a responsible 24 year old
I'm so happy with each of their journeys and how far they've come, the end was perfect (I rarely ever say this), It was everything I imagined it would be, 5
I'm going to be brutally honest until the last 100 pages of this book I had it in mind to give 3 stars
But the end ...OMG ...for a debut novel chloe gong has exceptional writing skills, her prose is beautiful and very compelling
The only problem I had with this book was the pacing...was too slow at times I had to take a long break before returning
The story was beautiful roma and juliette are wonderful characters , her side characters are also great especially benedikt and Kathleen .... I truly look forward to these violent ends and I hope that would be a five star read
This was a lot better
I really like how much lily strives to handle her addiction and more important how honest she is with the difficulties in riding herself of the compulsion ...more importantly I'm happy about how this book perfectly describes how parents neglecting children in their adolescence can be extremely catastrophic...I mean it doesn't mean you'll turn out to be an addict but it almost always have serious consequences
And that hollow feeling you get and wanting to satisfy it with anything is very real...for those who have read this book and felt anything like that I hope you find some semblance of peace in something positive....enough adult talk
I really like Rose and Connor and I hope they have their book
SEEEEEEEEEE
I AM SCREAMINNGGGGGGG
WTF?????.....
See i never expected to be this obsessed with this series but my word JLA outdid herself ...she perfectly turned poppy into the main character I knew she could be after the end of the first book
I am impressed with everything ...with how the story comes back to the casteel's mother and isbeth ...I'm shocked beyond words I'm still trying to pick my jaw off the floor
This was a spectacular read ...nah I don't think I can contain myself till 2022...this is fucking amazing
I will start by saying my high expectations for the first book in this series did not go to waste
1. The prose - GRRM is masterful writer how he manages to have multiple POVs and in said stories he carefully brings in supporting characters that hold the interest of the main character speaking at the moment is truly phenomenal
2. The plot - everything about the first book just screams perfect build up i am in love with the storyline
3. The world building - beed i say more ...it is exceptional especially from the point of Daenerys
4. The pacing - absolutely spectacular ...it just flows as one and I hardly ever felt like I needed to take a pause unless necessary ....truly amazing
By the end of this series I have no doubt GRRM might take the spot as my favourite author of all time
3.5/5
I really liked the idea behind this book , the characters are well written and since its a series the chance of development is there which is something I look forward too
The plot could've been a bit better especially after the first heist, the book seems to lose some of its umph after like 200 pages but it wasn't a bad ending ...a bit surprising tho
As for the pacing it was decent and Roshani's prose is beautiful i like the historical moments from Enrique especially nice touch , it was a good book
This is by far SJM's most well thought out debut novel for a series
I'm not going to give a lengthy review so I'll just summarise
The friendships over the course of the book were incredible I loved every single of them and I enjoyed how much she conveyed Bryce's emotions about danika so deeply it almost made me cry
The love interest which for most part of the book felt like a friend than a lover but I guess that is to be expected seeing as they mirror each other emotionally
Lastly the pacing of the book was great, I actually love the plot like A LOT it reminds me of the level of politics in underowld(movie)...it was dope ....I'm still not a fan of her use of male and powerful in qlmost every sentence
This is was such an entertaining read in the end
4.5/5
I will say that a lot of this book had exactly what I wanted to have ...Great shock value, good writing , acts of bravery and DRAGONS (a dragon)
I honestly did love every decision Leigh made in this book but most especially the fact that she didn't write off the darkling impressed me more cos I always felt he was a victim of the events of his bloodline and the responsibilities that befell himself and his kind ...I am glad that she did that
Now to the more important couple and the people of the moment ZOYALAI ...UGH ...THE SERVE ...YESSS...I am impressed ....and I am glad that they found a way to push ravka to be the best version of itself in time ...and to Zoya Nazyalensky...I couldn't be more of my baby girl....Queen of ravka ...this is was such a good read
This was such a good read ...kerri really has a gift for this genre
I look forward to the next book ..finally Cresswell and Audrey admit their feelings....I was worried Audrey wouldn't accept for a minute there ...lmao
This was a really good book ...I highly recommend this to anyone who is into horror or mystery/thriller
I am short of words ....like I am speechless right now
5 mins after reading this book and I feel a deep sadness that is had to end that is the only flaw in this book ....the writing, the plot, THE CHARACTERS, the world building, the names (weirdly enough are so intriguing) , the pacing
Everything is just perfect ....this is my favourite 5 star read of the year and it would take a lot of effort to change that in the coming months ....Shannon I am blown away by your work this is nearly as good as the ASOIAF books (I mean the influence is a bit obvious) . Not a lot of fantasy books have snatched my ability to breathe like the priory of the orange tree
This is masterful literature ...5 out of 5 stars is too small if I could rate at a 10 I would...I loved it ...amazing stuff
I am just here to announce my official application for the Ryan Kennedy fanbase ...because what???...what the actual fuck ma'am??....why so talented sis??
There are few modern day romance authors that impress me and I'm glad to say she's one of the select few
Maxim and lennix story comes to a beautiful end here , I loved the plot, THE WRITING IS AMAZING , I loved the side characters and how much she portays her women in general (which is of great importance to me), I liked the development between the love interests and the immediate family that was very beautiful as well
But most of all I enjoyed how profound her writing for emotional scenes were ...very few authors can convey such grief and love and loss perfectly and she did...I love it so much .....amazing
This was such a good read
The pacing, the plot , the writing ....so beautiful and lose the back stories and how it's relatable to marginalised communities....I can't wait to read book 2
I can't think of better way to end my February TBR ...than with this book and poppy war of course ....this was a great ...I loved it
BITCH WHAT????????????
AJSHSJSJDKEJDJDODJDJD....THE DARKLING DID WHAT???
Leigh outsold with this book ...this is spectacular ...I loved the writing, the pacing was amazing, I loved nina's POV , Nikolai and zoya getting closer even tho they almost died and last but not least ....my baby is back (you know who
Leigh bardugo
I cannot believe this is the same woman that wrote shadow and bone ....she has evolved so much as a writer
The growth, the characters , the pacing she has added so much to her skill im glad about that
Over to the details all I can say is this was an extremely good book , it was a great book and one I hope I can read again in future ....she tied the duology so well with this one and I'm incredibly happy with most part if the way she chose to end some of their stories besides the obvious (you know who)....it was a great read ...
I am obsessed with how easy it is to fall into her sassy, teenaged world.... It's pretty interesting how being born into wealth doesn't erase certain deep rooted issues
Most of all I'm happy dash had the courage to accept the things he truly loved in the end... I'm happy Carrie found peace too
Thoroughly entertaining
