Abercrombie returns with a series that doesn't just rival his first one, it makes everything a little bit better
The humour, the pacing , his writing is more engaging , his character work hasn't wavered not once which is extremely difficult to replicate with different characters but he does it so effortlessly
I can say for certain Savine Dan Glokta will be a top 5 female character for me by the time I'm done with this series
I think it's kind of telling how I'm the 21st century in the year 2023 it is still possible to relate to some of the themes being explored in this classic
My greatest compliment to Jane Austen is her character work with Me Bennet ...not only was she able to write one of the coolest dad's the classic literature but to write that perfect daughter- father bonding in this was so intriguing to me especially when you consider it wasn't the main focus of the story
Moving on, Elizabeth's headstrong stance to not conform to societal norms resonates so well with me and it's why I feel she is the perfect character for this era ...having such values for oneself is such a time isn't easy especially in the face of poverty and a future in which her friend Charlotte could be the mistress of the household she grew up in
I enjoyed the evolution of Mr. Darcy the most, there's just something about a man who enjoys headtsrong women in his space but doesn't understand why that works for him...like it scratches a particular part of my brain that brings me so much joy ....I loved his admission to falling in love with her and his input in Lydia's marriage
Sometimes book recommendations just HIT ..you know ....they just give you exactly what you're craving for in that moment
Bolu babalola you have rocked my world, I don't say this lightly but I rarely like the use of Nigerian cultures in books being a Nigerian myself because most of them are horrible ...the context doesn't match whatever they're borrowing from said culture and it turns out cringe
But this beautiful author wrapped it up real nice I can't help but hope she makes a series out of this ...the food, the slangs and occasional slander for Nigerian parenting styles really hit the spot ....I'm in awe of how modern she made this instead doing the usual set in the village or the 60s type shit most authors from similar background do
It's so well rounded .. I loved the plot, the romance was so well done and I also liked the way she handled racism us Africans especially Nigerians face when moving into a new community aborad ...that meant a lot ...anyway , this is one of the most important books I've read this year .....highly recommended
A beautiful, thought provoking story about purpose, ambition and our realtionship with what we've built over the years (humans)
I loved every second of this, especially masscop's reaction to the most basic human actions. It felt good to see a story with AI having thoughts of their own instead of the usual human assistant programmed to say whatever you want it too
I look forward to book 2
I wish it ended differently, throughout the stroy there was just this feeling of tragic ending looming over it but I was hopeful
Mike and Stan tell a beautiful tale of loyalty, revenge and honour within family and friends and how much each of those qualities have their own consequences in a larger sense ...I enjoyed this a lot ...I would definitely want to see an adapted version of this
Chloe Liese does it again, somehow she finds a way to pull me back in
I think this is her most genuine work, relationships can be messy and seem difficult when you hit a couple challenges but as long as you're willing to fight for that love you found at the start I think things will always work out
Second chance romance is my shit and this hit that troupe so well..nicely done AGAIN
I thought this would be something that wasn't going to hold my attention but I'm glad I decided to finish it
It was worth it ...Alice Sun and Henry Li SERVED rivals to lovers so well I'm a little bit jealous of them. The writing was really good I have to say, I never found myself being bored or thinking the plot of the story was being dragged out
I enjoyed the romance and the life lessons really hit me I won't lie ...the side characters delivered too Chanel, Mr. Chen etc. I look forward to whatever Ann Liang writes next
I feel like I want to break for both of them
The grief, the love lost for his mother and her brother, there's so much time lost they couldn't get back .....I'm thorn ...I cannot tell you how many times I had to fight back tears going through this
J.L Seegars writes about grief in one of the most profound ways I hardly ever see in books from this genre ...I can't wait for the final book next year .... definitely one of my most anticipated reads of 2023
Ugh....there's nothing more dear to my heart than subtle frenemies turned lovers
Dominic Alexander I love you so much and you do know how to make a woman feel special ...I loved the pacing, I know some people complained about too much X rated scenes but I thought it was pretty okay for someone who hasn't seen action in 4 years ( come on) . Sloane and Mallory's relationship was so sweet...my best girls
I cannot wait to read the second book in this series

SELWYNE KANE THE MAN THAT YOU ARE
Look, I know majority of LB fans are all over Nicholas ..I get it I really do but Selwyn might be the most intentional lover in YA in a long LONG time for me . Going from being the annoying hot head merlin to this sweet boy that melts at the sight of Briana was the best thing about this book
Enough swooning, I absolutely love that we got to see things from Arthur's perspective because I was curious to see how it works for the original knights while they lie in wait for their scions to be selected and one day called upon to defend other LBs and onceborns ...that part did not disappoint at all
The in-depth knowledge of root by the other black women Briana met was also a highlight for me reading this book and I enjoyed it as well ...I'm looking forward to seeing Selwyn's mother in book 3 that's my most anticipated new character appearance and I need to know what happens with Alice as well
Fantastic pacing and good story telling by Tracy Deonn yet again...5 star read and a top 10 read for me this year
