I preordered this book as soon as it was available on book depository and I don't know why because I NEVER preorder books. This book sounded like a book I would love and my mind told me to preorder it so I did. It feels like fate that I did because this book was AMAZING!
I love survival stories and what being stranded or trapped does to a humans mind. It's so interesting and I would love to read some non fictional survival stories soon :)
Characters are a huge part in if I like the book or not.. this main character was a transphobe the entire time. I mean, its right for her to overwhelmed with this huge truth reveal, she is allowed to be and its alright for her to be mad about not knowing the truth (even though Mellie didn't have to tell her if she didn't want to) but it doesn't excuse misgendering her, not calling her mum anymore, going to live with the people your mum said really hurt her (the fact she had the hear it out of her mums bullies mouths to believe it..).
Such a selfish and evil main character.
DNF at 60%
I never DNF books but wow.. I just couldn't read this for a second longer.
It felt like a middle grade book but then it would hit you with extreme NSFW moments that reminds you this is a mature book.
this book feels like it was a book once but someone just scrambled the whole story and now chapters and paragraphs are out of order and doesn't make sense.
an INSTANT new favourite! I watched the movie a couple years ago so I knew everything that was going to happen (and the movie got every detail right.. one of the best adaptions imo) but that didn't affect my experience with the book!
I finished it and started dancing around my kitchen because I was so excited because I havent felt this way about a book in a while. AH im in love!

[re-read] i rated this a one star the first time i read it and said “reading the back of a shampoo bottle is more interesting than this” well yeah i'm doing a 180 and changing my rating to a 3 star... somehow it got way more interesting on my 2nd read of it.
love the message. Every person who works is important. every job is important. the world wouldnt run without the jobs that people look down on.
the jobs that people look down on are the most important tbh.
overall message: treat people with kindness - Harry styles John Raskin
