Didn't really like this.. at all.
The reason it isn't a one star is because I did feel the authors pain in some poems but the rest of the poems didn't really make me feel anything.
This just wasn't for me.

I preordered this book as soon as it was available on book depository and I don't know why because I NEVER preorder books. This book sounded like a book I would love and my mind told me to preorder it so I did. It feels like fate that I did because this book was AMAZING!

I love survival stories and what being stranded or trapped does to a humans mind. It's so interesting and I would love to read some non fictional survival stories soon :)

Characters are a huge part in if I like the book or not.. this main character was a transphobe the entire time. I mean, its right for her to overwhelmed with this huge truth reveal, she is allowed to be and its alright for her to be mad about not knowing the truth (even though Mellie didn't have to tell her if she didn't want to) but it doesn't excuse misgendering her, not calling her mum anymore, going to live with the people your mum said really hurt her (the fact she had the hear it out of her mums bullies mouths to believe it..).
Such a selfish and evil main character.

Wow. It didn't really have a plot, it was a look into a teen girls life. The life of losing friends, getting into romantic relationships, first times, grief and maturity.

DNF at 60%

I never DNF books but wow.. I just couldn't read this for a second longer.

It felt like a middle grade book but then it would hit you with extreme NSFW moments that reminds you this is a mature book.

this book feels like it was a book once but someone just scrambled the whole story and now chapters and paragraphs are out of order and doesn't make sense.

Fun but I don't think I'll read the sequel :/

It was good! The plot twist came out off nowhere and had my jaw dropped!

such an addictive book! I just finished this with the biggest smile on my face!
I did have some problems with it, hence why it isn't 5 stars lol

an INSTANT new favourite! I watched the movie a couple years ago so I knew everything that was going to happen (and the movie got every detail right.. one of the best adaptions imo) but that didn't affect my experience with the book!
I finished it and started dancing around my kitchen because I was so excited because I havent felt this way about a book in a while. AH im in love!

A perfect quick read for when you miss Jane eyre.. which I do everyday

Oh.. my.. GOD

This story was so atmospheric and creepy, I'm so happy I read this in the day time

I could picture every character so clearly and I felt like I really got to know them in only 200 short pages

also Spider the dog? the best character!

Just.. no

Disturbing but very enjoyable

When boxer died, I lost part of my soul

And I hate pigs now, thanks George Orwell

Decent but enjoyable.

If you've read ya, then you've already read this series bc it's just all the YA fantasy books mushed together.. which makes it extremely predictable

It started off great, I ignored the atrocious instalove and enjoyed the story until the finale challenge part of the story.
The ending completely sucked.

Good but not perfect but I ordered the second book before even finishing this one and I'm excited to see what happens next!

[re-read] i rated this a one star the first time i read it and said “reading the back of a shampoo bottle is more interesting than this” well yeah i'm doing a 180 and changing my rating to a 3 star... somehow it got way more interesting on my 2nd read of it.

love the message. Every person who works is important. every job is important. the world wouldnt run without the jobs that people look down on.

the jobs that people look down on are the most important tbh.

overall message: treat people with kindness - Harry styles John Raskin

edit: i can't stop thinking about how this book actually jumpscared me

Read this again and ehh.. still bad but not as bad as the first time I read it.

all I took from this book is that they're were

2nd read- the best little black classic me thinks

Wasn't the best I've read but the ending made up for it!

[re-read] ive only read about 30 little black classics but out of all of them.. this one is the BEST one,

[first read]
I might update this to a 5 stars later when I let the story sink in

Honestly so interesting and gunnlaugs death had my jaw hanging, it was so sudden

and helgas death was also so sudden and unexpected and she died knowing she loved gunnlaug more than anything :(

I was expecting a 5 star book but got this.
It felt like I was reading a children's book at times but then an adult chapter comes along and reminds me this is supposed to be a 18+ book.
The characters were so unrealistic. Alex was the absolute worst.

[re-read jan 6th 2022]
again, the first three stories are banging but the last one is just weird and gross.

read- jan 1st 2021
I loved the first 3 stories but the last story made me so uncomfortable :/

What a mess

Buuuut it did end the way I wanted it to. Was it a good ending? No but it was the one I wanted.. sort of
