This book is a collection of short stories around a theme. That theme being that the Grim Reaper isn't what you would at first think, but that he (it?) is a guide and a comfort at the time of transition, and for that matter, other times as well. (He can also be something quite different, but you will need to read them all yourself because I am not going to spoil it by telling you.)
The short stories in the book run the gamut of emotions and there is sure to be a number of them that speak to you personally.
I can whole heartedly recommend this book for anyone who wants to take a peek into, what I would now consider, one of the most important jobs to ever exist.

This is my 4th time through the series and it is just as good as I remember it to be. Every time I go through it I see something different, or that I missed the last time. The series just gets better and better with every read.

Don't stop with The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, read the histories, read everything by Tolkien!

A great look into an even greater book. I would recommend reading the Hobbit first, then re-reading it as you go though this book.

Just as good as I remembered it to be.
