Annie is not someone you instantly tend to like. She has all the features of a detective - fierce, independent, brave and at the same time, a bit too careful. Her thinking process is relatable, but there are times through the book when you feel like telling her it is OK to let go and live life spontaneously. And that makes Annie a human. Renee has done a good job creating a detective who is as much human as anyone of us. She is afraid of making mistake, just like any one us.

The book is really nice. I am looking forward to understanding the characters more by reading the previous parts of the series

This has to be one of the best Thriller I have read so far. The pace, the story, the flow is so engrossing and amazing that it is impossible to put the book down before finishing it. The book speaks to you, creates a movie in front of your eyes with every word you read, the movie goes ahead, with every letter, a new picture is created. It is just something else, reading this book.

This book is so cute that it is the world of cuteness. Reading that book and imagining myself reading it to a 4 year old was a totally amazing feeling.

The book is filled with colors, pictures and drawings which will keep a toddler engaged and it is short enough to not let their attention wander.

The story is light and soft and the book is beautifully Illustrated. A beautiful bed time story.

Read the complete review at Last Straw: Vengeance is not always the province of the Lord > Review

Once a man gets cheated out of his entire future, there is no telling how far he will go to avenge the injustice. The Last Straw is an amazing thriller showing how far a man can go once he has started clutching the absolute last straw of his life.

The story line and the flow is done perfectly. The story shifts between Pickering and the detectives, thereby giving us both the sides of the story as it proceeds. There are many moments when the crimes do not feel as much criminal as it would have been if the crime's background was not explained. A beautiful captivating thriller, not at all to be missed.

Check out the complete review at Dead Ringer > Review

Dead Ringer is a thriller with a different concept of crime. The concept of crime goes to a different level and a different logic altogether. The story is nice but it could have been better. It felt a bit slow with not too much action, but only a lot of thoughts and planning. With a bit more of action, it could have been so much better.

The story does not start till almost 60% of the book. Till then, the characters are just speculating and throwing theories in the air. It is too much late in the book when the protagonist meets the detective and it goes somewhere forward. But by that time, the reader has lost interest and almost ready to quit. A bit on the passable side.

Check out the complete review at Shirley Link and the Safe Case (Shirley Link, #1) > Review

This is one of the cutest books I have read. Shirley Link is an instantly likable kid detective, who is very intelligent but a very normal teenager. She has this adorable couple of friends, Marie and Wylie, who like each other but do not accept it. Shirley, however, has her head strong on her shoulders, at least that is what she thinks.

There is absolutely nothing I did not like about this book. It is a really short book and would do wonders with kids. The concept is captivating and story is crisp without any scope of mind wandering. I would love to read more of Shirley and her friends. They are definitely here to stay.

Check out the complete review at Red Christmas

It is a really short story, like just about 20 odd pages. But it is definitely a punch. Someone is killing Santa Clause using a razor. The detective investigating the crime is someone who hates Christmas. And the book ends with a one line punch. It should be read just for the last line of the book. Totally takes the cake, that one line.

The author has a nice imagination. It is very difficult to write a proper murder mystery in just a few thousand words and the author does a fabulous job with it. A total 5 star worth it.

A Christmas Tail is a story about love, hope, and all the Christmas miracle in it. It is a perfect story to be read during Christmas.

The story is about a terminally ill 10 year old boy and his faith that a miracle cat can cure him. That is the faith that everyone feels during Christmas, and that is what most of the times come true for most of us.

It is a short read and a beautiful season felt story. Try it for Christmas.

Check out the complete review at Petectives: Christmas Party

This is one of the cutest detective novel I have read so far, and that is saying something considering I do not like cats that much too. Gatsby and Yoshi are Petectives - Pet Detectives. They are house cats but has the mind of detectives. Yoshi is more of a thinker and Gatsby is the eyes in the pair of them.

It is a short story and hardly a half an hour read. But it is interesting and funny and very much smartly written. For animal lovers, detective mystery lovers, thriller lovers, this book is for literature lovers, which includes everyone. It is a wonderful read, even in a short story. An absolute 5 star book.

And what is the cutest thing about the book? The authors description of himself, as given in Amazon.com. It has to be checked, it is as below:

“Robert J. Smith is the pen name for Gatsby the cat. Gatsby lives with a human family and his friend Yoshi. Gatsby has held positions as a food critic, actor, mattress tester, mouse chaser and is proud of ability to type without opposable thumbs.”

This is a very interesting closed door murder mystery. The author gives due respect to Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot at various instances. Inspector Zhang lives in Singapore where murder is very rare. And he had spent his life waiting for that perfect locked room murder mystery to pop up. When such a mystery finally pops up, he refuses to use any scientific help to try and solve his much awaited mystery.

Check out the complete review at Perfect Crime > Review

A perfect crime in the minimum possible words. It is said that “there is no such thing as a perfect crime”. A woman tries to prove that saying wrong and the story is all about her attempt to do the impossible.

It has always amazed me how authors manage to pack a super suspense thriller in just a few words, just some pages. This is one such book. The suspense is powerful and because the story is short, it is super paced. However there is no compromise done on any of the required details. Beautiful story written

A sex filled murder mystery. The murdered victim had sexual encounters with 13 females, all of which are described in vivid details in his diary named “YOLO”. The detectives investigating the murder comes across this book and thus the 13 characters are placed under suspicion.

For erotica fans, this is a thrilling read. It has got suspense and mystery embedded in a nice way.

CMO can very well be a murder mystery writer. I hope she writes a murder mystery once (which is more in my genre than this one ;) )

Check out my complete review at The Olympus Killer (Greek Island Mysteries, #1) > Review

This is one of the best murder mysteries I have ever read. The book is gripping right from the first page and takes you on a roller coaster till the very last end. By the end of the book, you will left gasping for air with the thriller that is in the book.

Luke goes through the writing like a pro. He also gives out clues in between the books for the readers to figure out who the killer might be. The prize of guessing right is the awesome satisfaction you get towards the end when the killer gets caught. The partnership between Captain Papacosta and Ioli Cara is amazing and commendable. The killings are gruesome and vicious but there is nothing too gory in the book. Whatever is there was absolutely required for the plot.

Overall, an absolute must read. All Murder mystery enthusiasts must totally go for this book. It is worth every bit of time and all other resources invested in it.

Read the complete review at The Sinister Urge

Yes, it is a love story alright. But the love story is between a brother and a sister. No, it is not an affectionate love story. It is an incest love story. Those who like to read it will like the story.

The character building is nice. The story is nice. But the incest kills the mood. Unfortunately, a 2 star, but only because I am not comfortable with incest. Otherwise it is a good one.

Check out the complete review at Joshua's Island

The book raises a social issue very pointedly and nicely and asks the reader to look around and identify signs of bullying among children. Bullying is as much a social issue as child abuse and should not go UN-punished. The people responsible should be penalized to a high extend and the victims should be given intense counseling to overcome the stigma associated with bullying.

“Though Joshua's Island is a work of fiction, the sad truth is that bullying remains a large problem in many schools around the country and around the world.
If you or someone you know is a victim of bullying, speak up. Tell a parent, a teacher, a counselor, a friend, any adult that you trust. Only by letting others know about it can you help make sure that it stops. Remaining silent only lets the cycle of abuse and violence continue.
Speak up. Be part of the solution.” - Patrick Hodges

Read the complete review at Dancing With A Cowboy

When I took “Dancing with the cowboy”, I had serious misgivings about it. But the moment I finished the first chapter, I knew I was hooked. Finished the 250 page book in 3 hours flat, that is how much I loved it. Right from the previous book, I loved her stories. This one is just another one to be adored and totally loved.

The character building is really nice. The language, which put me off in the second book, has developed substantially in this one. The description and depiction is classy. The story is sweet, albeit a tad bit predictable. There is some suspense at the end but even that is nice.

Check the complete review at I'll Put 3 Chips On God just in case

I read this book immediately after watching Amir Khan starrer PK and found both of them to be very much similar. Preeti has described various mythological beliefs with sounding logical statements which we can relate to as most of us ask the same questions about traditions and religion on a daily basis without receiving any satisfying answers.

Overall an interesting read.

Read the complete review at The Mystery of the Blue Dolphins (A Clarissa and Paw Mini Mystery, Vol. 1)

A very short murder mystery but with such an awesome punch which sometimes even a full fledged novel cannot deliver. Clarissa and Paw are absolute lovable detectives. The Saint Bernard Paw is a darling digger and Clarissa is a very intuitive owner. Together, they manage to solve a murder mystery which was considered to be a suicide at first.

Legacy: The Murefre Saga (book 1)

Legacy is a sci-fi, into the future kind of book. Unfortunately it is too much into the future for my liking. The story is set in a world where human beings are sorted into three categories: Murefre, human beings and Tonug Gal

For those who like sci fi stories set far into the future, this will be an interesting read. The setting and description are detailed and proper. There are first person narration from literally all the characters. There is heart break, treachery, fights, loyalty, everything.

Check out the complete review at Herbie's Diner

It is truly a short read, just some 60 odd pages. The story starts in the middle, where Actor Johnny Hardwood, who is being a detective, is sitting at Herbie's Diner, waiting for a suspect. And then the author takes us on a journey where the action is happening, at the same time, the background is also being described wherever required.

Truly a fun read, especially just a for a couple of hours, as it gets over by then.

Someone is killing the Grandmaster participants. And one of them happens to be Ray Gordon's friend. The turns from that point forward and the twist at the end is totally amazing and worth every dinner you miss and every wink of sleep you miss in the process of reading. There are very few detective murder mysteries which are entirely captivating and Michael Weitz has ensured that this one makes its mark in the list.

Read at: The Grandmaster's King (Ray Gordon #2)

I have never exactly liked chess but this murder mystery related with chess is one of the most amazing stories I have ever read. The finesse of the story, the flawless theme, the beautifully described characters, the underlying love story, everything makes “Even Dead Men play chess” a really intriguing book to read.

Ray Gordon is an ex-cop and a chess teacher. But when one of his student dies, he gets involved in the investigation. Along with his childhood friend, Carla, he gets into the depth of the case and reaches stages which even the investigating police hadn't gone to yet.

The plot is just amazing and refreshing and fresh and unique.

Read at: Even Dead Men Play Chess

Oh My God!!! This was truly amazing. The concept of Jesus Christ coming back was truly nice. It reminded me a lot of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code but only some part of it. The story is as original as it gets. The research done is impeccable and the narration goes well too.
Just at some parts, the narration gets a bit dragged along but that doesn't last for long. Carter Vance does a really nice job with the story and makes the reader really curious to step on to the next book. The second book “The Reawakening” takes up from the where this story leaves.
Must read for all who love thrillers and a bit of history in it
