Super sweat callums chapters are my favorite
Could do without the spicy scenes/ thoughts I don't normally have an issue with them but I feel like it takes away from the book. This would be great as just a pg romance
I hate Sean. He sucks. I hope he g the fired at some point.
YESS he finally got fired!
OH shit Rachel
This was really cute. I think it I would have enjoyed it more without the spicy scenes, sometimes I felt like they were taking away from the rest of the story. It would be great to me as just a pg 13 contemporary romance. Callum and Meave are my favorites. I grew to like Lark but it took me a while. I will probably check out the next book too. I'm interested to see the other couples.
I read this because I needed a book for Mauritania in my Around the World challenge. The illustrations were beautiful. This was a cute way of showcasing a part of the world that doesn't get talked about enough. It's about a little Muslim girl named Lalla who wants to be like the women in her family who wear a malafa. She has her reasons she wants to wear it but by the end of the book realizes the real reason why they wear the malafa. I really appreciated the authors note at the end. She writes about her inspiration for the story and how her own prejudices were changed after living in Mauritania for a few years. There are a lot of bad reviews for this book which all seem to be by white woman with a complex, and they are very misleading. I think it's important to remember there are many reasons why someone may cover themselves and not all of them are because evil men said so. Personally, I found this review Serene Wonderland's review of Deep in the Sahara Goodreads very helpful and encourage everyone to find and listen to own voice's reviewers before bashing a book.
I think I would have enjoyed this more if I was able to read more consistently. I started in September and didn't finish until December. It was a mix of Libby request cutting my time short (every time I had to put a new hold on it there was a multi week wait) and my own brain not being up for reading a few times.
I love multi-generational books and this one special. The layers that go into this is nuts but in a good way, there's just so much detail. I enjoyed the first half of the book more than the second but there is also more time jumping in the second half and the second half was the part I had to wait the longest to finish which probably has to do with the way I feel about that.
Rating wise I'm giving it a 4.5. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to reading the next volume. I think Chloe is very clever and I can't wait to see how she grows. I am curious about the other maidens, Ines and our paladin Erald. I really think Chloe, Ines and Erald are going to end up in some crazy situations or I hope so. I have only read the 1st Apothecary Diaries and there are some similarities if I am remembering correctly but for me it's not a problem. I really enjoyed that book too. This was honestly perfect timing for me; I have a manga reading challenge that has a gambling prompt and couldn't find something I wanted to read that would fit.
I liked this so much more than I was expecting and I'm mad it ended like that.
Rabies = Zombie animals basically and it's great. These poor indoor cats are just trying to make it in these dark times where every other animal is actively trying to eat them. Brutal. My teens all enjoyed it too. They are both horror and animal fans so the youngest one was the most emotionally effected by it, but she still loved it.
Magical Rescue Vets is such a cute series and Blaze the Phoenix did not disappoint. My daughter also read this with me and absolutely loved it. She's really into animals and these books are right up her alley. What's not to love its magical creatures and adorable kid antics. These are perfect for fans of Daisy Meadows Rainbow Magic Fairies.
I know the common complaint for this is it's too much self-help and not enough Keke but I think she blended her own life experiences with lessons and reflections she's learned from them. I could listen to Keke read anything honestly. I love the way she tells a story. I also liked the addition of a song at the end of the audio. That was different and cool.
Her mom and Aunt are words I shouldn't say on a public platform. As a person with eczema, I hate the way she treats Barb. Like I get it, because kids are jerks especially over stuff, they don't understand but still Barb was clearly trying to explain it to her and it shouldn't have taken for Deenie to get a rash from her brace for her to realize. Her dad is great though and her friends too. And while I personally wasn't thinking about the sex stuff when I was her age I do know a lot of people who were doing way more than that at that age. This is still a really relatable book for teens/preteens.
