I liked the first book much better but I will still be reading the next book to see where it goes.

I was going to say this is a strong 4.5 for me but the fact that I was teary eyed for most of the ending I'm giving it a 5. This story is beautiful and so real. I wasn't a mother in highschool but I did have my first immediately after high school and the feelings still really resenated with me. I was so proud of Emoni. I would also love to eat everything mentioned because it sounds amazing. If only I could cook. I love abuela so much. The support from everyone in Emoni's life is honestly what so many people need. It makes a world of difference sometimes. I just really liked this book. I love Elizabeth's writing. In middle school/high school my best friend was Black and Puerto Rican and this book made me miss her and her family so much. They were such a huge part of my life and I'll always cherish those memories I spent with her family. Emoni is strong, talented, vulnerable, brave, afraid, caring and just very real.

Maybe I'll fix this later when I'm not sitting in my car so it sounds coherent and not just me putting my thoughts straight to goodreads but for now this it.

I actually kind of liked it. This is more 3.5 then 4 stars for me. I do think it was unnecessarily long but there are worse things. Maybe I'll read another maybe not, it's definitely not something I'm rushing to go do.

WHY ISN'T THERE MORE??!

This was cute.

I've had Ghosts on my tbr for a while and I'm not sure if I ever knew what it was actually about. I checked it out this time for my daughter (who is so much like me that she hasn't read it yet) and I had to read it before we returned it unread. I will be checking it out again and reading with all of the kids. I cried. I laughed. And I love.

It's been so long since I've finished a book and loved it. I'm so freaking excited right now.

Once & Future is everything I hoped for. A gender-bent King Arthur retelling full of LGBTQIAP+ rep in space with dragons is every once what I needed and wanted. This is one of the most diverse books I have ever read and it's done flawlessly. Everyone should take notes. The moment they started talking to Merlin about using the correct pronouns and not assuming gender I knew this was going to be perfect.

Once & Future follows the story of Ari, an illegal immigrant and her misfit group of knights (who are amazing) and their fight against a corporate monarchy. Who doesn't love a good rebellion? Rebellions give you action, a cause to fight for, and romance even when you aren't always expecting it. This book has all of that and some.

Did I mention dragons? In space? That's the best thing. I would be interested in just one of those but both? Yesss please!

As soon as I finished I wanted to continue reading. I can't wait for The Sword in the Stars in 2020. I really am curious to see where Ari and Merlin are headed.

Okay, let's be honest here I love Morgana. In every thing. I know I should hate her but I can't. And since we're talking about characters let's talk about the knights. By the time the book was over I cared so much for Val and Lam that I would read just a book about them. I'm a literally indifferent about Kay and Gwen. Jordan is a commendable warrior who I would totally want on my side. Merlin and Ari have such a great dynamic. Did I mention I love Val and Lam? They are hands down my two favorite people in the story.

You know what else this book is? Funny. There is some amazing witty banter and that's one of my favorite things about books featuring a ensemble cast.

I highly recommend this book. Please give it a chance.

Guys, I finished a book and I actually liked it. I forgot what that's like.

Andrea's work is beautiful. This is my first experience of their work and WOW. There is so much emotion and you can feel it as you read. I got choked up a few times especially when reading Orlando. This collection of poetry addresses love,family,addiction, sexual identity, gender identity, grief, politics, religion, depression and more.

It's just such a good book. You should read it.

I have to reread the full book now. I loved the art. I think it pairs great with the story. I feel like it's a lot harder to connect with the graphic novel than it was with the book although it's been more than 15 years since I read the book.

The nostalgia is real. I'm amazed at how much I remember but after this volume I'm pretty sure I'll know nothing.

I just don't think I'll ever be a fan of this type of poetry. I read the princess saves herself in this one too and didn't care for that either. There are a few poems that I liked but majority just didn't work for me. I also don't understand the point of just filling up a page with the same word over and over. That was just weird to me. I understand that happening in like soemones personal journal but to be in a poetry collection, i don't get it.

Yeah, so I didn't like this but that's just my opinion maybe you will.

And We Call It Love is written in prose which I love. It was a very quick read I think because of that. The story itself, I liked but it did feel a bit rushed. I also had a hard time telling the voices apart. It is told in two POVs and there's no clear difference when they switch. I was able to tell who was speaking depending on what they were referring to but it always took me a second to realize the POV changed.

Because it felt rushed I didn't get attached to any of the characters really. Everything happens very quickly within the story. I would have liked it to be a bit longer so we could have gotten to know more about the main characters. I don't have any opinions on the two girls because of that.


Stories that show these relationships are important. Teens need to know the signs of what's happening before it's too late. They need to know that this behavior is not acceptable. We all deserve healthy love.

I need more books like this. This was perfect. I don't have more words for this other than perfectly cute.

Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour is the story of Captain Dennis Davern and all that he witnessed that horrible night in November when the world lost Natalie Wood and from every moment since. The beginning focuses on his relationship with the Wagners (from the moment they met until the end of his relationship with RJ). Marti not only uses Dennis's story but even does her own investigating to corroborate everything he says.

I went into this with the vaguest knowledge of how Natalie died. I knew it was a suspicious drowning and that the only logically explanation is her husband was involved. People don't just suspiciously die. There is always a cause. This just made me believe even more that he was responsible.

This world is so messed up. Being rich and powerful has guaranteed that Robert Wagner will never have to answer for what happened to Natalie. No-one will even question him in fear for their own lives and careers.

Wow. Let me just say that I am a huge fan of Destiny Soria's work, even more now. I loved Iron Cast (that's her debut book you should check it out) and that was the entire reason why I wanted to read BTC. I love that her books are character driven. There is plenty of action but her books are about the friendships and the characters instead of just what's happening to and/or around them. Because it focuses on the characters it is a little slow in the beginning but it picks up (at least it did for me).

This book has everything you might be looking for. There is a heist, a ragtag group of friends, so much sass and snappy comebacks, LGBTQA+ rep, little bit of romance, and originality. Soria offers some new takes on “magical” abilities and I am here for it. Both of her books do honestly. I am becoming such a fan.

I'm just going to say Alys and Newt are my new children and must be protected at all costs. That's another thing I love about Soria. Her names. Between BTC and IC I have names picked out for children I can't even have anymore. They are just so cute and the characters are totally relatable and adorable.

I just realized what the cover actually is and OMG it fits perfectly with the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I think if you like books similar to Six of Crows you might like this too.

Note: I am not comparing the two. I don't recommend comparing books at all. It's not fair to yourself, the authors, or the books. I just think they have a few things in common.

I love these books. I love Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda. The story and the art go so perfectly together.

OMG THIS BOOK IS NOT WHAT I IMAGINED. It's a High 4/ low 5 rating.

Honestly so unique. Certain Dark Things has everything I needed. It starts off a little slow but it picks up and that ending A+. There are different vampire species and putting them into mob-familys is genius. The classic Noir vibes are there add that with being set in Mexico City and with tons of culture and folklore, you've got one of my new favorites.

I would personally love a Cualli. Badass pets are the best!

Really though you should check out this book. Did I mention almost the entire character list is made of POC? No? Well it is and I'm loving it.
