Wow! This book was punchy, vibrant, and so utterly honest. I absolutely loved it. An amazing coming of age story set in the city I call home, featuring a cast of diverse, intelligent, and real people. As a multiracial bi girl, I loved this book.

This classic book was a little slow paced in the beginning, but brilliant in its thoroughness. We are given every train of thought, tangent, feeling, and memory that George experiences, and this is truly a stunningly realistic and thought-provoking little story.

This book was heart-wrenching, informative, and real. So many of these stories tell of such hardship and grief, but they are honest and important to read. Saslow did a great job at presenting the interviews as spoken without injecting his own voice, and I thought this was a very effective book.

This book was extremely compelling to read, and deals with complex political issues while also being a retelling of an extremely old play. I really enjoyed the characters and found them complex, well-rounded, and sympathetic.

This book was so much fun - I found myself laughing out loud and reading quotes from it to my fiance, who also found the deadpan humor and snarky dialogue hilarious. I loved Finlay's character, found Vero to be a perfect sidekick, and generally enjoyed every page!

I felt like the first part of this story was really strong, but it because less and less believable. I didn't like Hannah's character (and also kept forgetting who the heck Hannah was), although I did like the daughter. I felt like this book got harder and harder to like as I went along. Solid premise but then went off the rails.

I found this book to be really well written and I love Shirin as a character. She is a three dimensional character, and is super relatable and honest. I loved the relationships in this book, family, friends, and romantic. Just a super sweet coming of age that also touches on some really deep, underrepresented issues

Wow, this was a fantastic thriller. So well written, with such fantastic three dimensional characters. I loved the plot twists and was absolutely drawn in to the story. Interesting plot and premise, amazingly well executed.

Beautifully written, with extremely well fleshed out and realistic characters. I loved the format and the timeline of this novel, and truly enjoyed every minute. Such interesting historical information, with characters that make it all feel so present and important.

This book was heartbreakingly brilliant. I love a good memoir, and this was a fantastic one. So blunt and honest, no sugarcoating, but ultimately so inspiring. Jaouad is someone I would love to have as a friend, and her story was beautifully told here.
