Interesting premise and plot, as well as interesting world-building, but this somehow felt more like a halfway-fleshed-out thought experiment than a book. It could have either been shorter and more compressed of a story, or a longer more in depth exploration, but the length it is just felt a little unsatisfying.

Interesting vignettes of childhood in Crimea. I really enjoyed Sentsov's writing style, it was bare and unembellished and felt really honest. I would have loved more exploration of Crimea/the author's life, as I know his story is probably fascinating and devastating.

What. The. Fuck.
Weird and deeply disturbing and fascinating and political. Some things I can't get past, but also some concepts I agree wholeheartedly with.

Quirky and likeable, although with a few things that just grated on me a bit. The main character feels realistic but sometimes some other aspects of this didn't, and it pulled me out of the story. But overall really good.

Beautiful and dark stories with just enough character development to be interesting but no extraneous things bogging them down. Fantastic cultural imagery and lore.

I really loved the art and the characters here, but would have loved some deeper exploration of Lu's world and her relationship with Fassen. The queer representation was fantastic.
