5 stars feels too simple

sometimes you know at the very beginning of a book that it's going to be something that will burrow it's way into your core and never leave

“remember that hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”

I cried :)

cat sebastian understands what it is like to............... be as baseball fan

  • the idea that he is kind of stuck because he wants to die but he feels both his parents had meaningless deaths and he doesn't want his own death to be like that
  • the thumbsucking
  • the grief day things. how think doing something like that will make you feel better but it doesn't
  • the cyrus/zee reunion making me weep 😭
  • ok so cyrus/zee ending, dream? cyrus's death? cyrus imagining his death?
  • something suicidal people will do to kind of convince themselves to Not do it - imagining their deaths and how loved ones will react
  • if it is real or not, at what point does it occur? after he puts on the song in the hotel room? after he passes out from finding out about orkideh’s death? just while daydreaming while waiting for zee?

gorgeous, wholesome, wonderful, soft, everything I love about superman summed into a comic

as someone who has seen 319 movies so far this year (it's october when I'm writing this), this was all too real. when he was like - why do these people want to talk about their lives instead of movies? boring? oh no, it's me

what a little precious boy I love him so much and this also reminded me that Please Like Me took over my life for a bit and has some of the funniest but also Saddest episodes of TV known to humankind

the kind of book I am always searching for. one that sees not just me but all people and feels their hearts beating all at once. a book just dripping in empathy.

“I wanted to share this moment - the beauty, the absurdity - with people I loved. Why didn't I ask anyone to come tonight? Why did I have to try to do this by myself? I needed support. I needed love. I should've asked for it.”

excellent 5 stars no notes I love to cry I love to laugh I love theatre

“I think now that being free is not being powerful or rich or well regarded or without obligation but being able to love. To love someone else enough to forget about yourself even for one moment is to be free.”

“my skin is starting to get loose and some of my fur drags and tugs on things it didn't drag or tug on before. it's okay. old is fine. I'm old because I'm not dead.”

“I wish I could understand experiences I'm incapable of having.”

imagine having such a terrible children

I was a little bit into this when I realized it was what the beautiful movie The Quiet Girl was based on and let me tell you I simply love to cry

“sorry about the bony elbows, sorry we lived here, sorry about the scene at the bottom of the stairwell and how I ruined everything by saying it out loud.”

ok hell yeah i loved this ending!! such a fun and SUPER quick read. literally read it in two sittings. i love the genre of “a young female twentysomething casually lives her life.” and having two different perspectives was soo interesting and made this so addicting at times because i couldn't help but go oooooooooo she's gonna be mad, or oh my lorde i can't believe he just said that, etc. anyway, good book!

alexa play heads will roll by yeah yeah yeahs

i'm not sure if i was supposed to find this as funny as i did but it was a great and super interesting read! no wonder it was banned though because, ya know. all those NUDES throughout were also great. long live oscar wilde
