This book was basically my introduction to SciFi novels. I am, as I always been, a fan of science fiction, Hard SF rather that Space Opera.
And this is -in my opinion- as Hard as it gets in SciFi. Nothing gets in the way of detailed exploration of an unknown alien world like Rama.
Characters are well drawn, by the end of the book you feel like a member of the main exploration team and you know major characters by heart.

The fact that there is no major plot twist is amazing, this means you can't get spoiled with this book, and consequently you can read it several times and still enjoy it!

This is a self-help book, I don't know why I expected otherwise, it has the same tone and mind-numbing tails to hammer the anecdotes home! I gave it 4 chapters before giving up.

Concise, with good references to further reading and research on “geek corner” sections.

Good narrative on history of cancer as a pathology and our reaction as species to it from ancient times to this date. Without having any background in medicine, it sounded balanced and well researched.
As some have pointed out, the literary devises sometimes felt a bit much, but I appreciated the overall effort on making it more readable for a wide audience.

Pretty light hearted book, I liked the part that main character (a bot) explains human behaviour in simple terms, they were often refreshing and funny.
