Not a book I would have picked up if I'd seen it in a bookstore. It was shared with us on The Pigeonhole platform, so I have them to thank for having read it.
It was a fantastic read with some very likeable and realistically written characters.
I loved the change from the rural farmland of Wales, to the inner city life of London.
Thank you to PH and Cari Davies for the chance to read this book.
This was an excellent read. Despite having not read the previous two Cyrus Haven books, it was still easy to follow what was going on and not feel like I was missing anything important.
I loved Cyrus and Evie as characters and I'm definitely going to read the previous two books!
It was a definite page turner that had me gripped from start to finish.
Thank you to PH and Michael Robotham for the chance to read this book.
Highly recommend.
This was a fictionalised version of Marion Crawford's (Crawfie's) story as Governess in the Royal Family.
We'll never learn the truth of how things really went, but this was an enjoyable read nonetheless.
I started with liking Crawfie, but by the time we reached the end, I'd grown so annoyed and frustrated with her!
Thank you to PH, NetGalley, Fern Britton and Harper Collins for the chance to read this book.
This was a brilliant read! Very tense and intriguing.
Without giving too much away, some of the things that went on in that house were just beyond crazy! I struggle to understand how some of the adults in that house thought any of what they were doing was OK! The poor kids. I felt awful for them.
It was very gripping and I can't wait to read The Family Remains!
This is only the second Mark Billingham book that I've read! After reading Cry Baby on Pigeonhole (PH) previously, I said I would go back and read the rest but I've still not done that!
Having not read the previous books didn't detract from this one though, as the relevant information was provided throughout so you didn't feel like missing anything!
This was another excellent book by Mark and once again I loved the dark humour, the camaraderie and friendship between Tom Thorne and co.
There was an excellent twist at the end which I did not see coming!
Thank you once again to PH and Mark for sharing this book with us!
That was a very good book, with a great plot, but like some of my fellow PH readers, the ending left me confused with more questions then answers!
I liked Lane Jr as a character. I would love to read more books with him in it, but with the way things ended who knows if that is even a possibility!
Thank you to PH and Shelley for the chance to read this book.
Oh, what to even say about this book!
An incredible book that was so beautifully written! It was so sad, heartbreaking and just really, really gut wrenching!
As I read about poor Kiara and Trevor and their struggles just to make ends meet, my heart broke for them again and again.
It made me so sad/angry/frustrated that the people who were supposed to protect them took advantage of them!
On a slightly positive note, I loved the relationship between Kiara and Trevor.
Thank you to PH for sharing this excellent book with us. If not for you I don't think I would have even read it. Thank you also to author Leila for sharing this book with us!
I cannot recommend this book highly enough!
A very good whodunit story that I really enjoyed!
There were some very dodgy characters in this book. I'll refrain from saying more or else I'll ruin things for anyone that might want to read the book!
I liked Elise as a character and also her partnership with Ronnie. I definitely wouldn't mind reading more books with Elise in them!
Thank you to PH and Fiona for the chance to read this book.
I read this book years ago, after being recommended it by an Aunt. I remembe that much, but I'd forgotten what it was about so I had to re-read it.
I'm so glad I did because, oh my gosh, what a story! It was so beautifully written and so heartbreakingly sad throughout. I actually cried reading it.
Apart from the story itself, what really got me was the descriptions of Afghanistan when Amir returns all those years later. The difference between the Afghanistan he knew as a child, to the one he comes back to couldn't have been more striking.
It was an utterly gripping read, which had me hooked from start to finish.
I would highly recommend this book.
I was unsure about this book when I started it, but by the end I was glad that I had stuck with it.
It turned out to be an excellent read, and despite how different Thea and Denise were to each other, I enjoyed the friendship that developed between them!
I also enjoyed the personal development journeys they each went on.
Thank you to PH and Caroline Bond for another excellent book!
Another excellent book by Karin Slaughter!
One of the reasons I love Karin Slaughter is because she never disappoints as an author!
Her books get you hooked right from the start and Girl, Forgotten was no different!
As always the story was really well written with some great characterizations. The way some of them were written made it so easy to dislike them!
Reading Emily's story made me feel so sad for her, especially when she wasn't even at fault. Without giving away anything, what was done to her was terrible and no, I'm not talking about her being murdered, although that in itself was terrible.
Andrea Oliver, was an interesting character and I liked her. Wouldn't mind reading a few more books with her and Mike in it!
Thank you to NetGalley , Karin and publishers Harper Collins for the chance to read this book.
Having read The Authenticity Project by Clare, I was really excited about reading this. I was worried about it living up to the high standards set by The Authenticity Project, but I need not have because it did and then some!
There was once again a wonderful cast of characters, although my favourite by far was Iona! Honestly, everyone needs an Iona in their lives! I loved how they all went from strangers to friends, who were there to support each other.
I definitely wish I could read more about Iona, Sanjay and the rest.
Thank you to PH and Clare Pooley for the opportunity to read this wonderful book.
I couldn't recommend it highly enough!
That was such a brilliant and uplifting read!
I enjoyed it from start to finish and loved the wonderful cast of characters. Everyone needs the kind of friends Eliza ended up being surrounded. I finished reading this book a while ago but I'm still missing them all!
Thank you to PH and Jo Thomas for the chance to read this book.
This was a very well written book, with plenty of twists and turns.
I liked Esther as a character. I loved how she went from someone who did as her mother told her without question, to being able to stand up for herself by the end.
Reading it in staves on the Pigeonhole app meant quite a few cliffhangers which just added to the tension of the story, with you wondering what on earth was going to happen next.
Thank you to PH and Louise for the chance to read this book.
An interesting premise for this book, but I personally found it difficult to be fully invested in the characters.
Well, unless it was Lisa, who I really didn't like at all!
There were a lot of sad and heartbreaking moments, but like I said before, there was something lacking that made it difficult to be fully invested. The coldness with which some of it was written maybe?
Thank you to PH and Christina for the chance to read this book.
This was a very well written book, especially in terms of getting the tension and sense of claustrophobia across!
The last few chapters did make me judge Wolfe harshly, and I still stand by it, but it did pose the question of what any of us would have done if we had found ourselves in the same situation.
There was a lot of tension and claustrophobia in the book, with you worrying about the safety of the people in the bunker.
Thank you to PH and Rachelle for the chance to read this book.
This was an interesting read, with some great tension.
Lindsay was an interesting character, although I'm not sure how she was still able to keep going after some painful injuries she ended up with. I get an adrenaline rush allowing someone to keep going one or twice, but more than that seemed rather unrealistic.
I also thought the ending was rather abrupt, with some unanswered questions!
Thank you to PH and Michelle for the chance to read this book.
OK, so I enjoyed reading the first 2/3 of this book, but I'm not sure what on earth happened in the last third because it seemed like I was reading a completely different book.
It was quite disappointing because I've actually enjoyed some of Stuart's other books that I've managed to read.
I'm still not sure who the Bloodsmith actually was and I'm really not convinced with the way things went with Detective Sergeant Lucy McVeigh at the end.
Thank you to PH and Stuart for the chance to read this book.
This was such a sad, heartbreaking read.
It's amazing to think how one horrific event set of such a tragic chain of events.
Despite the sadness and heartbreak, this was a very captivating read and I probably would have read it in one go if I'd had a full copy of the book.
I loved Lotta's character especially with the strength and bravery she showed in carrying on despite what happened to her.
I really highly recommend it.
Thank you to PH and Siobhan for the chance to read this book.
This was a very gripping read, although I can't say I much cared for any of the characters.
They were all very unlikeable characters, who only seemed to be out for themselves. They were very well written though so well done to Laura for that.
I did like the fact that it had an unexpected twist. I won't say anymore or else I'll end up spoiling the book for anyone who might be interested in reading it!
Thank you to PH and Laura for the opportunity to read this book.
This was a great read.
It was really sad and heartbreaking at times, but gripping nonetheless.
I thought it was really well written especially when you consider how different Kirstie's past in London was, to her self-imposed exile in Yell. It really seemed like you were reading about two completely different characters.
Thank you to PH and Sarah for the chance to read this book.
