30 pages before the end of the book, I found out some not very nice things about the author, and it really ruined the book for me. So just know that before reading it.
The book was amazing. I loved the relationships in it, all of them, and the growth of the characters. I couldn't put it down, I read like 90% of it in one day. Joan and Vanessa are the best, and I hate Barbara. Some of the things she said were exactly the same as my sister, it was kind of freaky. The last 20 pages I ugly-cried so much, I don't think I've ever cried that much at the end of a book.
Like I said, the book itself and the themes it explores are done so amazingly. But I just can't get over the author being a zionist.
