3.5 stars Parts Duke Nukem meets South Park meets classic Kevin Smith. Sophomoric humor abound in this ???Battle Royale??? but with aliens. Although the redeeming factors are some toilet humor chuckles and an epilogue author interview with the characters which was pretty hilarious.
Enjoyable for the self-aware characters and sharp-tongued banter.
No this is not related to the Netflix show.
Loved it! As an aspiring musician and someone who had played the small clubs and lived for the live music scene I really felt this book. PLUS the whole ‘pandemic' angle really hit home with the current state of things and I really enjoyed it. It had just enough scifi but nothing outlandish or overbearing.

With elements that felt familiar and unique, Szal spins an action-packed ride with a protagonizt that's isn't all anger and brawn. There's a human side to his characters that I really appreciated. Sci-fi on a asteroid city with an expansive plot that doesn't get too heavy.

I really loved this story (and I don't read a TON of fantasy). I felt that I was fortunate enough to find the author's ‘pronunciation guide' before diving in an it really helped me grasp the terminology here. I really loved the ‘hints' of the origins behind these ‘spirits' and the origins of the realms and the world this all takes place in.
Points for:
-the layers of motivations and tactics and deceptions
-the worldbuilding and the layers of ‘lore' happening
-the character growth and the ‘facing your demons' literally and figuratively.
-the creatures - the flayers and Dokojin
-the darkness and the brutality
Well done!
(audiobook review) What a hell of a ghost story! I felt as though I could see the house and the surrounding area i loved the environment of this story. This was not a book that you want to read alone at night. It settles in to your skin and pulls you in and the final act was really great! I'm not an avid horror reader but this sure set the bar high for future authors.
