If you read Sanderson's books you can be sure to expect the unexpected. I thought I had a pretty decent idea of what was going on in the first era of Mistborn, but I was so wrong. Sanderson challenged my beliefs and blew my mind with this new era. I don't have any choice but keep reading the next book.
I started reading this light novel because I didn't want to watch the anime. (Yeah, I'm that lazy). I didn't have any expectations whatsoever, but this story surprised me! I read it in one sitting, and even though the plot seems conclusive, I definitely want to continue the series. Maybe I'll watch the anime later.
I have so much to say, but at the same time, I don't want to say much... This book was INCREDIBLE!!! Brandon set the bar really high for the next book, and for that he worked masterfully the plots in this one. Besides, I appreciate the effort he made with the characters mental illnesses. The depictions were accurate, and I can't be more thankful for their journeys because they were like my own. Now I'd like to sleep until the next book, thank you very much.
I am somewhat new with the urban fantasy genre, but from what I've read in the past, I can say that most series have a similar structure, and sometimes the same plot twists. And it is tiresome.
However, since I started reading Reagan Moon's series, I've found myself enjoying every book. Mike Duran doesn't repeat himself, actually, he writes even crazier plots with each book. There are a lot of things I wasn't expecting to happen, and he surprises me every time. Besides, the character's growth is progressive, truthful and feels real.
In this book we meet new characters that add up to the story. And even though the pace of the book is fast, you can see and know the cast of characters. Their importance and development shows throughout the book, and that's one of the things I liked the most.
So if you want to read a urban fantasy series, let Reagan Moon be your priority. You won't be disappointed!

Algo que me gusta de la versión animada es que Mulán pasa de ser una chica casi normal a una guerrera; y todo gracias a su esfuerzo y tenacidad. Y aunque recibe ayuda supernatural de Mushu, es ella quien hace todos los actos heróicos. Sin embargo, en esta adaptación, Mulán es una más del cliché: la elegida que siempre tuvo poderes y que solo podía liberarlos en un tiempo determinado. Eso minimiza el esfuerzo y trabajo duro que, para mí, era lo que más resaltaba del personaje.
La esencia de Mulán no está. Fue reemplazada por un poder que ella solo tenía que liberar. No podrían haber elegido un peor giro en la trama.
Este libro es el mejor ejemplo para no dejarse guiar por las apariencias. La novela superó mis expectativas y me hizo reflexionar acerca de los diferentes temas que se expone en la trama, además me mantuvo pegada a la historia y me sorprendió con algunas situaciones que no esperaba. Espero continuar la serie y disfrutar más libros de este autor.
Admito que me sentí un poco perdida al inicio. Me tomó casi 100 páginas para entender qué estaba pasando y familiarizarme con la geografía. Pero conforme avanzaba la historia, todo se volvió claro.
Leí que Frank Herbert había planeado este libro como autoconclusivo, pero la verdad que me pareció más una muy buena introducción. La historia tiene un final, pero los acontecimientos exigen una continuación.
En cuanto a los personajes, no tengo quejas. No me gustó mucho el romance, pero la escena final compensó todo. Ademas, cada uno de los personajes es tan complejo que siempre quieres saber más de sus motivaciones. Dicho sea de paso, me encantó el protagonismo que le dio el autor a las mujeres. Teniendo en cuenta el año de publicación, creo que fue un visionario para su tiempo y sigue siendo relevante en la actualidad.
En general, me encantó esta novela. Mi único pesar es que no lo leí antes; pero a la vez me alegra haber esperado porque esta edición es magnífica.
