not much to say but for a cheesy book that made me not want to read anymore it still grabbed my attention wanting to know what will she do next.
i read this book really fast to be honest. something about short chapters makes the book easier to read and wanting to read more. lets start of with Ayoola. man did this female really had me annoyed. she thought because she is pretty and has no flaws she needs to get everything she wanted. she did but thats not the point. actually i dont know if i even have a point i just know she pissed me off a lot because of it. her murdering the men i believe she did it because she wouldn't get her way. it never really said what was the reason on why she killed them other than the guys coming at her, as in attacking them
what i did like was how well written it was. how koede helps her sister get rid of the body and cleaning the murder room to be spotless. i give her a round of applause for sticking around. it doesn't matter if the murderer is blood. if you do not feel safe being around that person, fuck them ! LITERALLY what is the reason for you to stay “oh i can change them” “its my baby sister/brother” “they need me” please if they are old enough to know that killing is bad then thats it.
anyways, i also liked how ayoola was getting away with it. and at the end got her way. it is literally shocking how close she was on getting caught that it made me keep reading and wanting to find out what is happening next. the men in this book all suck especially the father. their father reminded me of my dad and didn't really trigger me but it did make me think a lot. the book in general made me have a connection with both sisters minus the killing. i have not much to say other than being a 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ will there be a second book ? i would love to continue this book !! you like comedy/murder/sisters this is a good book for you. give it a go !
I am a fan of vampires, werewolves, all that magic stuff and to read a book where i got more then what i was expecting being honest...i loved it !! It had me hooked wanting to keep reading and finding out what was happening although when the events were happening i kinda had an idea not sure if that's just how good i am (just kidding) or it was suppose to be like that. I also did have times where i was wrong probably twice but its a series so who knows maybe something can happen in the future as i read right. If that makes sense.
Anyways, I love when i read a good book. It means it has all the good bits; good plot, well written, not wanting to put it down, staying late at night reading, etc. See it has all the good qualities for a 5 star book. The thing is that it had some typos and for some reason I strongly dislike seeing errors on books. It can be a sentence or a word it doesn't matter to me.
Besides that...I was satisfied with this first book of many. Good ending because it ended right on good timing. It didn't leave me hanging because I knew what was happening at the end and had an idea of what will happen next. (sorry no spoilers) It had my imagination running and I love when it happens while im reading, it makes it better as i imagine everything that is happening and really feeling like im there. and WOWW there were some amazing scenes that i would love to really see and experience other than my mind cries I was also able to connect and understand the characters I am excited to read Refuge, second book of the series.
At the end I give this a 4.5☆☆☆☆☆ GO READ IT !!
to begin with this review I want to start by saying Emmie was a bit relatable. from “faking” her personality at work because it's full of men to faking orgasms lol i relate a bit. i had a good time reading this. it made me laugh and cringe a little bit...but that's alright. for the amount of discomfort i would say between Tate and Emmie in the beginning, it had me stressed because how can Emmie overthink so much when you just met this man. as time went by they got closer as usual and it was all butterflies and roses. Emmie started crushing on Tate even though he would sometimes still be a bit rude to her. Tate was already in love but due to the past he didn't know how to get Emmie without fucking things up.
their relationship was really cute and goofy i really enjoyed them finally getting together. they reminded me of teenagers to be honest. the spiciness of the book was not much but it definitely suited the story. it was like a enemies to lovers type book with a slow burn i would say. it also had some parts that had me covering my mouth in gasp because of what was happening but i don't want to give spoilers since i think i already gave enough. overall great writing other than one line that did not pass but i won't let it affect my rating. good story build up, character development as well which i really loved especially with Tate. god how i love this man. Tate and Emmie reminded me of my boyfriend and i which i also really love.
another thing, Tate goiong down on Emmie because that's his own pleasure is AMAZING. thats it. i give it a 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ for a debut book, Ms. Smith please make this into a series because the way in ended did not sit right with me !!!! if you like comedy, romance, even enemies to lovers or all in three this book is for you go and give it read !
