This was an interesting read on the different plagues and pandemics that have swept through the world. It started with the Neolithic Age and moved forward to present day, where we are currently dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
I loved the history and the information that was shared, and overall felt it was a great read! This is one that I am going to be recommending for students in history and social geography courses.

This book was one that makes you sit back and put yourself in someone else's shoes.. I had not heard of the Wilhelm Gustloff before, but I am itching to read more about it now!
This story is given in a first person narrative, and is so well done, you almost feel like you are there with him - on the ship, waiting to be rescued, escaping and making the long trek back home. Perfection in a book for military history lovers!
Marie de Guise has long been a footnote in history, but she was much more than that! This enigmatic woman was a formidable opponent - not one to bend to the pressures of a male monarch from another country.
While we know her as the mother of Mary Queen of Scots, Marie de Guise was regent of Scotland after the death of her husband, and managed to guide Scotland through some rather difficult times, such as the religious upheaval that was sweeping through Europe at the time.
Melanie Clegg does a great job with this book, drawing Marie back into the light that she deserves, and restoring her back into history. I loved this read!

Eleanor of Aquitaine was a formidable woman, but her sons were going to prove just as formidable. While they did not all have happy endings, the line that Henry and Eleanor began was going to be one of intrigue, deceit, piousness and poignant figures that are not easily forgotten.
Dive into the the history of this larger than life family, and get to know the Plantagenet line in a whole new light!
LOVED this book!
I was always curious about the man who was in charge of Auschwitz. This book was well done, giving the reader the full story of Rudolph Hoss, and the role that he played within the Reich.
It was heartbreaking in areas, but overall, a very good comprehensive view.
For those interested in WWII history, and the Holocaust, this is a really good read.
The long debated question - Who Killed the Princes in the Tower?
Well, M. J. Trow tackles that question in this book, and I have to say, the suspect was NOT someone I was expecting to be named! I was completely blown away, but her analysis and theory makes complete sense.
I don't want to spoil it, and give the name of the suspect away (you have to read the book for yourself), but OH MY GOODNESS! How in the world was this person not thought of before? How did they escape scrutiny for so long?
Throughout this book, the writer takes us through the ups and downs of the Plantagenet and Tudor dynasties, the theories, main players, and usual suspects that come up when the disappearance of the two princes is discussed.
Now, I have long been a Richard III fan, and I could never come to terms with the thought that he could have been responsible. So, you can imagine my relief when he was not named. But, there were only a handful of people that COULD have been responsible, and had the access to the princes that the crime would have required.
I think that this new suspect opens a possibility, a new line of questioning. However, given that centuries have passed since the crime was committed, we are never fully going to know who was responsible. The tragic ending of the princes in the tower is going to remain a mystery until the end of times.
This book was truly enjoyable, and it gave me a lot of information - some newer crimes which were woven in to explain the suspect likelihood, as well as going through the materials that we know with a fine tooth comb. For those who enjoy this period in history, or love a good who dun it - then this book is for you!

This book was amazing, and I loved it! For history lovers, this is going to cover a piece of history we would have been begging our teachers to spend more time on. For those that do not generally enjoy history - this book is still enjoyable - giving you the perspective of a battle from a bygone era, and brings to life some of the struggles of the new Navy.
Jack Kelly has delivered a book that is hard to put down, and breathes new life into a little talked about portion of the American Revolution. Get it now!
TS Alan shares some fabulous short stories, giving the reader a stroll down horror lane. These five stories are amazing, and I really enjoyed the stories that were shared. Each one brings a level of horror. The stories include:

Pumpkin Face has triggers for those who stay away from sexual trauma. But other than that, it was a great story! I ranged emotions on that one, but it was perfectly done. A Soul For A Silver Dollar and The Specter of the 1-2-3 are among my favorites of the book! Both stories were fabulous, and I wasn't ready for them to end.
I look forward to seeing more from this author!
1066 was truly the year that changed history in England, and this book takes a fresh look at the battles, giving the reader a deeper look into the campaigns.
With the tides turning, there is a lot of information that can easily feel overwhelming, but the authors take and break it down to where anyone, regardless of their knowledge of 1066 can understand and appreciate. If you appreciate history, and military maneuvers, then you are going to love this take on the campaigns that brought England a new king, and gave birth to a tapestry that is still talked about! Dive into the Bayeux Tapestry, the battles, and the men who fought the campaigns of 1066.
Perfect for a weekend read!
When greed becomes the prime motive for murder, a person will do just about anything to get their hands on the object of that desire. Rod Covlin pursued and married Shele, and then systematically wore her down over the years. He berated her for everything from her looks, her weight, and made her feel guilty for everything. He was abusive, but managed to hide it from most people. Once she filed for divorce, the gloves came off.
When she was found dead in the bathtub, a huge battle began for the massive estate that she left behind. Child custody, life insurance and more led to a ten year battle in court over what Shele left behind. And no one could foresee the lengths to which her husband would go to gain control of her estate.
Oh my goodness! This was a great book, and I enjoyed reading it. This has everything a true crime should have. You will be horrified at some of the information contained in this book, but the story weaves together, and doesn't leave out any details that would confuse the reader. It is there in black and white for the reader to gain a full sense of the struggles and bitterness that ensued. 100% would recommend!
