The depth of the performance given in this audiobook would have you believe it was far longer than it is. Plath's words are vivid, from the construction of the train itself to the way the two women interact and move throughout it, I felt like I was on the train myself, and I watched Mary run for something better, and in doing so, I felt pride, joy, and envy for her. This is a stunning piece you can enjoy in less than an hour, go for it!
I told my girlfriend that finishing Fun Home was like getting dumped in an icy pool. This is only partially true. It's the familiar public pool of my own childhood that scraped my feet until they bled. It's an understanding of the magnitude of the cracks that form in the family dynamics we are born in to. This was stunning
This might be one of the worst representations of early internet vocabulary & tone setting i've ever come across in a horror piece. The in character authors note really sets us up for a comedy poorly considered plot movement between the two main characters. The fact that the early internet & the year 2000 is supposed to be a highlight in this piece while the language Agnes & Zoe use feels right out of prime time Tumblr 15-16 years after the year 2000 is just disappointing.
