oh this was so boring !!!!!!!!!!! I pushed thru after reading reviews abt all the plot twists and then I finished the book...well that was disappointing to say the least. the twist was fine but literally the 70% of the book is literally just nothing so before i got to the ending i just wanted the book to be over.

I usually don't read books with 0 plot just vibes but this sounded so cute and warm. I listened to the whole thing while building a house in sims 4 and I think it was perfect for that!!! There was some plot but mostly it was just a book abt starting/owning a coffee shop and everything that goes into that and I really enjoyed it. Its only 3.5 stars bc sure it was a good time but I will forget abt this book tommorow and that's okay. I really liked the characters so I'm excited to read the prequel (also bonus points for being queer)

im so conflicted!!!!!!!! i loved the atmosphere and the premise of this story, there was so many plot twists that i did not predict at all but idk why this was so confusing to me 😭😭. i kept mixing up the characters and after a while it just annoyed me but thats my problem not the books i think. also the last chapter was so dumb and corny but whatever. overall i think i liked it?? some things made no sense and idk if there was plot holes in the story or just me being confused lol. ALSO it was a bit too long and slow in some places
this is my first shari lapena and it was such a surprise!!! went into it expecting a mid 3 star thriller that i've seen before but this really got me. i listened to the whole book in one day, it was so entertaining and interesting and even tho i had my suspicions and kinda knew where the story is going i had so much fun. i didn't guess the biggest reveal tho but i also didn't try too much to figure it all out. excited to read more books from the author now!!!

as someone who LOVES found footage horror i was so excited to read this one (especially after the authors note and his love for that genre) but sadly this was just mostly fine. the beginning and ending of the collection were great, middle was terrible resulting in 3.0 avrg rating for the whole thing but im bumping it to 3.5 for the experience alone. it was so fun reading all the stories and the ones i loved will stick with me for longer bc of how good and memorable they were. im also aware that found footage works best on the screen and its hard to write a story like that but even with that said some stories were just boring, not scary or simply had a trope i didnt like.

i did not just waste my day listening to this shit??????? THIS BOOK GOES NOWHERE, NOTHING HAPPENS???? besides the surface level commentary literally nothing happens im going insane. also this had so many weird sexual comments abt the kids in the book, specifically the daughter whos a minor...? very weird and disgusting bc they were thrown there for literally no reason. i think this is the worst book i've ever read and it makes me want to punch the wall
this is my second stand alone ferrante and yet again i didn't love it. idk what it is, i love the first half, then i get bored and then i rush the second half and hate it. maybe it's the pacing or i just get bored of the same topic over and over or maybe she can't keep me engaged. i wanted to love this one so bad bc broken marriage is my fav theme in any media but this just didn't hit

this was definitely better than good daughter. i still think her books are way too long but at least here i liked the characters and family dynamics and cared for what was going on so i didn't mind. it was very predictible but again i didnt really care coz i was interested in the story. i dont really know how to rate this so 3 stars it is for now
this was a solid ya mystery thriller, not as good as gggtm but not bad either. i really loved the audiobook, it made the experience better. one thing that really annoyed me is all the race/prison/feminism commentary being so heavy handed as if the author copy pasted a fragment from wikipedia and put it randomly into a dialogue between two teenagers. but other than that it was fine + bonus points for lesbians :)
how does ali hazelwood create the most amazing, sweet, loving and sexy men but cringy and annoying women ? this was the worst mc i've experienced in a while. the scene where she thought he didn't speak english?????????? and ofc all the mentions how small, tiny, petite, light, microscopic she is 🥴 this makes me think maybe I hallucinated the love hypothesis being enjoyable but i also only liked the guy there so i guess that checks out. such a shame, i need the author to work on her female characters bc it's just very weird and sad
