Read this book when it first came out and loved it so much. Recently decided to listen to it on Audible, read by the author. So glad I did! Just be careful if you are listening to it while driving - I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to lose control of the car! And don't listen to it while at the gym or any place in public, unless you want to make a fool of yourself. I really needed a good laugh, and this really did the trick...
If this book was just the story in WWI, it might have 4 stars - but the story that takes place in the 40s ruins it for me. It felt like the author was already thinking of the future mini-series and adding extraneous, unrealistic romance and personal drama, that for me, took away from what should have been the real story - the seriously interesting story of the women spies of WWI.
Revisiting a lot of my old favorites from when I was a kid, and sharing them with my daughter. This one still holds up and is even more clever than I remember. So far, this one is my daughter's favorite out of “Mom's Old Classics”...
