This would be a great SyFy channel movie. If you want a thriller along those lines, give this a read and don't be put off by the irrelevant and shitty cover.
I love cop/government agency fighting the supernatural, so this seemed really promising. Nope. This was such a train wreck. I just kept going because it was so unbelievable (decent writing but unappealing 1D characters, sloppy world building) but I reached my limit with “mercury tipped enema”.
I really like these. They're about small events and small people (no empires here) but they have a lot of depth.
I want 3.5 stars for this. Good enough that I'll probably get the next one but not so good that it would get to stay on my bookshelf if it were the dead tree version.
It was lovely to revisit Holmes and find that I enjoy these just as much as I did when I was a kid. Great fun and good narrator.
It's almost painful to give this book 3 stars. It's THE LAST DISCWORLD BOOK EVER. And I liked it, and it finished off the Tiffany Aching series nicely but it's just not as good as earlier Pratchett (much like “Raising Steam”). Lots of cameo moments and attempts to tie up loose ends but the the level of prose just isn't there. But still 3 stars for Pratchett is probably 4 for almost anyone else!
GNU Sir Terry Pratchett
Excellent new look at archeological data. Previous theories about the island and its inhabitants are seriously revised.
Are you a child/teenager of the 80s? Were you a geek of any description? If so, this book is a must read. I recommend going with the audio version for the fabulous narration by the rocking Wil Wheaton.
Loved this! Cary is wonderful and they got most of the cast to do their own narration. If you're a Princess Bride fan, you'll love this.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first. In many ways, it reminded me of Book 2 of the Hunger Games. In both cases, book 2 is very dark and sometimes hard to take. It was quite grim at times. The end had a twist I really wasn't expecting and I'm looking forward to book 3. I think I'd find it hard to reread this one but that will ultimately depend on how it all turns out.
Another fine addition to “The Laundry Files”. I just adore this series and the audiobook versions are great.
The Violinist's Thumb: And Other Lost Tales of Love, War, and Genius, as Written by Our Genetic Code

Great book from the author of “The Disappearing Spoon” (one of my all time favorite nonfiction books).
This series and the Five Hundred Kingdom series are among my total comfort reading series. Easy, fun and although not her best work, quite enjoyable.
I love Jane Goodall but this particular book was light on science details and really aimed at a younger audience. But hey, it was a cheapie Kindle book and I did enjoy it.
Loved this book! My only regret is not reading it sooner. And for the audio version, the narrator (Phil Gigante) did one of the best narrations I have ever listened to. Ever.
Update: Listened again and loved it just as much.
Not as strong as the first book but still very worthwhile. I will continue to keep up with the series.
Loved these. It's always amazing to me how many level Sir Terry can write on at the same time. On the face of it, it's a Borrowers like trilogy that kids will love. And yet, there's all this commentary on society, religion etc that you catch if you're older. And some great moments of humor.
Narration by Kushner herself (and additional cast) is 5 stars all the way. Definitely naming on reading the other Riverside books now.
