This one took me a little while to get into. I started reading it when I was working so I was listening to it as an audiobook. Then I decided I should finish it before moving onto Riley Sagers new book & Maggie Stiefvaters new book.
I like that you don't know what's happened until literally the very end & it's not super obvious. It seems like a ghost story up until then but at some point there's a reference to Scooby-Doo & that's pretty accurate. All the scary stuff ended up being real people all along.
A fun read for sure but a little slow at times.
The characters were likable enough but also took some time to get used to. I didn't like any of them until the end but I also don't feel attaches to any of them even when the book is over.
i enjoyed it for the most part - the beginning felt really cheesy & it wasn't until after everyone gets together that the vibe of the book changes completely.
the plot is interesting but i don't feel like we get immersed in the story of what happened before - enough -
the characters were pretty bland. i didn't feel connected to any of them in particular, even the main character
the end was nice but if there's a sequel i don't think i'd read it.

pretty good - i liked the characters & got to know them well enough. although i couldn't really invest in the romance aspect of it much knowing what else was going on.
the plot was fun - i wish more things happened with the ghost though
this isn't my first wendy webb book & it won't be my last - i really enjoy her writing!
i wanted to love this book the way everyone else seems to have but i just couldn't.
it was good - i definitely wanted to finish it & figure out what happened but it was very predictable from the start.
you're able to get to know the main character but not really anyone else which makes the second half of the book feel bland
i understand there's 2 more books in the series but don't see the point in reading them now that we know exactly what's going to happen
Well, it's the end of a wonderful series.
I started this one last year & it took me quite a while to get through. I found it to be a little slow at certain parts but other than that i loved it!
it's the same great characters we already know & love, but deeper into their pasts. we learn things we've wanted to know all along (why Avery was chosen) & some things we probably didn't want to know (also the reason why she was chosen & a few other things about Tobias Hawthorne) but all in all, we learn so much in this one! definitely not a filler book by any means.
some of it was predictable. i called a certain character being bad from day one & was correct but there were still some crazy surprises & exciting games that kept you on your toes.
the plot only seemed to have one hole in my opinion (Toby? at the end?) but other than that, all of our questions are answered & i think it was a great way to wrap up the series & the ending was wonderful!
i can't wait to read The Brothers Hawthorne next year to hear more about the boys & Avery!
The concept of this book is really interesting: a square in a world called “flatland” tells about his world & has an experience with a few people from other worlds.
The writing style wasn't bad but it did tend to drone on. Sentences would run on with more info than what's needed. The first half of the book is descriptions of his world but it could have been condensed to just a couple chapters & then we could have gotten on with the story, which would have been nice since the second half feels like it's missing something.
The characters, although shapes in a 2D world, have interesting personalities & relationships with others that you wouldn't expect possible. But most of their world isn't exactly what you would expect is possible.
The book was written in the late 1800s & you can tell by the wording used & the structure of the sentences but it isn't too hard for the modern reader to understand.
It's a short read so if you want something a little different then what you'd normally read, pick this up. I wouldn't say it's a must read though.

this is such a cute series!
the characters are lovely! asako is shy & self conscious while kotato is more confident & self assured but not in a bad way. he's kind & caring for asako & her insecurities. together they make the perfect team!
the concept of the story is silly but soon after you start reading you'll find it's very cute! i'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for a quick, cute read!

that! was! so! good! my only complaint was that the main character, beyah, complained a lot & it was borderline annoying. not too bad but just a little but much.
this is the first colleen hoover book that i've read. i'm not sure why i didn't read any of her books before now but i understand the hype completely. i was looking for something cute & a friend recommended this one so i figured i'd finally read something by her & i was NOT disappointed.
i went into this book blind. i didn't read any description or anything so the beginning was a little confusing since i had no idea what it was going to be about but from page one, i was hooked & i spent the rest of the book falling in love with these characters.
especially samson... :)
beyah is a strong willed girl that's just doing everything she can to survive in whatever situation she's put in. because of that, she's closed off to most of the worse as a way of self preservation which in a lot of ways i understand. samson is a lot alike her in so many way but he comes from the other side of the tracks, or so it seems. he's smart & thoughtful. he respects boundaries & listens. he's clearly a man written by a woman because he's almost perfect! sara is beyahs step sister & at first she seems like a pretty rich kid but like like so many other characters, there's more to her than meets the eye. she becomes the sister & best friend beyah needs & i think beyah fills a void in sara as well. i wish we got to see more of her actually!
the setting & plot reminded me a lot of the last song by nicholas sparks but i think there's just some aspects that are similar & the vibe of it is very similar. i think if you liked the last song, you'll also like this. i could easily see this being made into a movie as well

i spent months trying to get through this book. i found myself reading a little here & there but never really getting into it. even at the end i was just rushing through it to finish it. i found it after seeing the trailer for the movie & i decided to read the book before watching it. i thought it would take a couple days but here i am, months later, finally finishing it.
the characters were likeable, especially erin. finley & beckett were fine but i didn't find myself loving them like i would have hoped but beckett was charming!
the story is great & even though it's a little sad, it's uplifting & lovely. but still, i wasn't HOOKED
if you're into christian books & like a simple love story set in ireland, check this out! but there isn't much more to say about it.
there should definitely be trigger warnings for ED's since it's a pretty openly talked about issue.

After reading Crave, i knew i'd found another great series. i just hoped that the rest of the books held up to the first. i got twilight vibes but then things went in their own direction completely & it stopped being a “twilight spinoff.” the 2nd book was even better than the first, definitely a 5 star read for me! it was interesting & exciting even though i spent the whole time screaming about Hudson & Grace. but now that i've read this one, i'm gonna have to knock the 2nd down to a 4.5 just so this can take the top spot!
this one is so exciting & full of adventure! & when i say full i mean FULL! it's one thing after another & every part is more exciting than the last! oh & LOTS OF HUDSON (which i adore!)
i think this is a very well rounded book! it doesn't skip around & leave you guessing. there aren't obvious plot holes & when there are, they're there for a reason. you follow the group through the entire adventure & it flows so well! i'm trying not to give away any spoilers but WOW was this a good one!
& that ending?! i thought the island was the end. then i thought the portal was the end. then i thought the school was the end. & i was wrong every single time!
i absolutely CANNOT WAIT for Court! i hate myself a little for speed reading through the 2nd & 3rd book in two weeks bc now i have to wait 5 months for the final book! maybe i'll get lucky & get an ARC
I started this book the day it came out & read a little over 100 pages. I was into it but i'm not very good with long series' or long books so i took a break & read a few more books. then the other day i was like “i think i'll try to read this again” bc i was in the mood for a fantasy romance... & boy oh boy am i glad i did !!!

i came across this book on tiktok & once i read that it was similar to the movie Knives Out & The Westing Game (one of my favorite books) I knew i HAD to read it ASAP!
this book put me into a reading slump because i can't find anything as good as this to read next!
it's about a smart girl named Avery who barely gets by while living with her sister. one day she gets called to the principals office & finds a boy there to see her. he says he's the grandson of Tobias Hawthorne, a billionaire philanthropist, whom she's never met, that apparently put HER in his will! she's confused as to why she would be in this mans will but she goes with her sister & soon gets caught up in the drama that is the Hawthorne family. not only is she in the will, but she inherits 90% of his money & all of his possessions. this makes the family angry & confused. each person has their own way of dealing with things & Avery soon learns that there's more to things than they seem. she begins a scavenger hunt with one of the grandsons of Tobias.
a big house. a hunt for the truth. 4 handsome boys. a lot of money & people that would take drastic measures to take it from her. it's fun & intense!
i couldn't stop reading once i picked it up! this was a book that i went to bed reading & found myself thinking about as soon as i woke up! the writing is wonderful! it's a fast paced book but it's still very detailed & you really feel like you're there with Avery! i have a hard time with slow burn books but i also don't like things being left to my own imagination when reading because i like to feel like i'm in another world rather than one i come up with & this book doesn't disappoint in either aspects!
the characters are vividly portrayed. the Hawthorne grandsons especially all have very unique personalities & you just wanna learn more about them! Avery (the main character) is very relatable & it's fun to see her hold her own in a world completely different from the one she knows.
the setting of Hawthorne House is described beautifully as well! it's a mix of the huge mansion that you expect mixed with a fun house featuring hidden doors & fun rooms like a bowling alley, a mini theater & LOTS of libraries! you feel like you're there at the same time as you WISH you could actually live there!
if you like mysteries, Knives Out, The Westing Game, Clue or anything even remotely close to those things : PICK THIS UP & READ IT NOW! you won't be disappointed! i can't think of anyone that wouldn't enjoy this book & i CANNOT WAIT to read the next one in the series!
