A great book about human determination. Nicely written. Really enjoyed it.
A very enjoyable short read. One for diehard Dylan fans and those very familiar with the great song - Mississippi. Markhorst unpacks the song's sound and lyrics and discusses possible influences and parallels including 1930s prison songs, Lead Belly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Walter, Doc Watson, Henry Rollins, Bryan Ferry, Nietzsche and Dante. He indeed shows, once again, how Dylan is a master at blending all manner of influences into his music. The result being a stream of thoughts, images and sounds that just work together to produce one of his best songs.
Get the app “FIRST RLRF” based on this book and it will work out all the activities and time goals associated with a specific training sequence. That way you will need not the tables in the book. Just read the book for its theoretical value and then use the app for your training.
An excellent book and an easy enjoyable read. Kevin Toolis writes from his personal experience about life and death. This includes his journalistic travels to third world countries, war-ravaged areas, and his “own backyard” - so to speak - in the “troubles” of Northern Ireland. Ultimately though this is a deeply personal account about how he has dealt with loss of his own family members. Highly recommended. I would also strongly recommended his earlier book Rebel Hearts.
