Most of this book felt repetitive with the same typical relationship angst over and over. Aside from that, I thought the beginning of the book was a bit slow, but thankfully the action really picks up toward the end. Some parts were also predictable, but I guess that's to be expected. The characters are starting to get a bit annoying and I kind of wanted to punch Katy in the face the whole time. However the story was enjoyable enough and I will be picking up with the next one because omg that cliffhanger!
I had some issues with the writing style because there were a bunch of sentences that made absolutely no sense whatsoever... I would read over them several times and still couldn't understand what it was trying to say. The sentences constantly took me out of the flow of the story. Other than that, I don't really have any gripes with the book. I can definitely see the Twilight parallels, but it's a fun story and I'm excited to pick up the next in the series.
I was bored throughout, but the ending made it somewhat worth the struggle. I found the book moved really slow in the first half and a lot of the characters annoyed me. I also think the long time in between my reading of Insurgent caused me to care for the characters even less. I was disconnected from the story for the most part and the dual perspectives didn't help either, but the ending was what brought it all together for me. I think the ending was done well and it was realistic; other endings would not have been as effective. Loose ends were tied up and it brought closure to the trilogy. It was a nice ending to a trilogy as opposed to the ways other series have ended. /side eyes Requiem/ The ending did not disappoint and for that I am grateful.
I did enjoy the series but I think I'm going to have to take a break from dystopians for a while. They all seem to be following the same cookie cutter formula and I'm tired of it.
I struggled a bit with this book because the first time I picked it up, I wasn't in the mood for it. I was also really scared that the ending would disappoint me which would have been so sad since the series had been so good so far. I decided to pick it up again after a fews months and I flew through the second half in one sitting. The ending pleasantly surprised me, it wasn't the greatest but it would have felt like a cop out if it had been. It felt more since it wasn't sunshine and rainbows all the time. I'm glad I finally finished the series and the trilogy, as a whole, is definitely worth the read!

I NEED THIS NOWWWW.
A fast paced, entertaining read, but perhaps a bit too fast paced. Some parts seemed a bit rushed or not thoroughly explained, so I had some trouble following the story at times. The world is unique and some of the minor characters were intriguing. Will possibly pick up the next book when I'm in the mood for a quick read!
Keil's debut novel is a coming of age story about Sam and his delightful group of friends. On the surface, it's a typical story about a guy who doesn't really fit in and how the new girl in town turns his world upside down. It's nothing extraordinary, but that doesn't make the story any less enjoyable. There were some great lines that had me bursting with laughter and the end of the novel made me feel all warm and tingly.
I felt like this book was way longer than it needed to be, but I'm so so so SO glad this is finally over. I've said before that I found the extension to the original trilogy unnecessary. As the series went on, I found myself disliking Clary and Jace more and more and no longer caring what happened to them—the side characters were really what saved it for me. Simon and Magnus and BROTHER ZACHARIAH OH MAN ALL OF THE FEELS. He definitely was what kept me reading instead of dropping the book. All the references to TID killed me. SO MANY TEARS.
Overall, it was a pretty decent conclusion and ended as you can imagine a Cassandra Clare series to end. What upsets me is I'll probably end up reading Lady Midnight when it comes out because I do like Emma, but I don't want to commit to another series like that. I really want to be done with the Shadowhunter world so I'm going to my hardest to stay the hell away from TDA. Can Cassandra Clare would just move on to something else please?
Quite enjoyed this. This pacing was a bit slow at times and some parts were repetitive, but I really liked this depiction of Anne Boleyn. I had some issues with the writing style because I didn't feel that the sentences fragments added much to the story. Overall it was a lovely story that presented a strong message!
3.5 stars???
I don't really know how to feel about this. I alternated reading the physical book and listening to the audiobook before bed. I did enjoy the story but I liked it even more so when I was listening to Gaiman's wonderful narration. He make the story truly whimsical and extraordinary. I think I've come to the conclusion that magical realism just isn't for me; I have quite a hard time getting into it and that prevents me from enjoying the story to its full potential.
3.5 stars
Well that was a painfully slow read... not to say that I didn't enjoy the story because I did, it just took a lot more effort to get through than the others as the pacing was a bit odd. Definitely my least favorite so far.
I enjoyed the insight into some of the more minor characters and surprisingly found myself anticipating Cersei's chapters the most and of course, Arya's chapters as well. The few chapters about the Iron Islands and Dorne were also quite enlightening.
There were some plot lines that I was confused about and I'm not sure how some characters come into play, but I'm assuming that will be cleared up in the next one. Hopefully the action will pick up as well! Can't wait to get back to the Wall and the dragons!
I went into this with fairly low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised! The bedroom scenes were done well and didn't make me cringe. The witty banter between Caroline and Simon was fun and had me laughing at times, but I could have done with a few less ‘pussy' jokes. Clive was absolutely adorable though and I loved his little bit at the end!
Overall, I quite enjoyed the story and I'll probably be picking up the sequel because who doesn't need more Simon in their lives?
