This book actually hooked me pretty early on, and kept me interested all the way through. Good balance of world building, character development, and ~spice~ to keep me wanting more. The characters didn't feel boring or 2-dimensional, and I found myself really invested in their stories. I'm definitely picking up the next book!

This book was alright. There were a couple parts where I felt like I was really struggling to keep going, and a few times where all I could ask myself is… “really?”, especially in regards to the way the plot progresses. It’s a little clunky. But by the end I was invested in the lore and I’ll be reading the next one.

Overall, this book impressed me once I finally got into it. It took me picking it up and restarting it about 4 times before it finally stuck, but once I made it past the first quarter I was hooked. It’s a little long winded and difficult to follow at times, but powering through was well worth it in the end.
