الراوى.. أعتقد ان سبب تسمية محفوظ لبطل الرواية جعفر الراوى لها دلالة واضحة وان لم انتبه لها فى أول الأمر. فالراوى يروى قصة حياته من نشأته وما عايشه. وفى أول الأمر لم يعجبنى هذا الأسلوب وهو ما قلل من سرعة القراءة لكن بعد الفصل الثالث-قصة الجد والحفيد- اندمجت فى قراءة الرواية.

.بعد ما قرأت 40 صفحة من الرواية، فلم أضعها إلا حين أنهيتها
الأحداث تتسارع والشخصيات تتشابك
.وعموما مرحلة ما بعد النكسة هي المرحلة الذهبية لمحفوظ في نظري

Jag bestämde mig att läsa mer asiatiska romaner, och börja från japan efter jag läste Kurosawa självbiografi, . Och förutom att romanen var kort, var det Yukio Mishimas dödsfall som intresserade mig att läsa hans verk.

Romanen följer ensam mamma, hennes son och sjömannen. Och var och en av dem kämpar för att leva i fred med de andra två. Händelserna ser vi genom karaktären sida nästan varje kapitel och detta tyckte jag väldig om.

Whoa..This is intense.
That was my first impression of Vol. 1 .
Overall, the series was wonderful and had a beautiful ending.

Overall the series was great, as Chicago Sun-Times described it “One of the greatest works of crime fiction in any medium”. Book 3 and 4 was my favorite among them. The art was great, except when it came to the drawing of certain characters. I was confused more than once , and had hard time to tell who was who till the other character said their name. The ending was very good and it left room for the story to continue. I wish I could see this masterpiece one day on the small screen.

Jag tyckte mycket om Platonov's stil. Den var enkel för det mesta men lite komplicerad ibland. Översättningen var väldig bra, och den skulle vara perfekt om det fanns fotnoter som förklarade några termer som sovjetsystemet använde.

يطيب لى ان اقرأ لمطر بعد دنقل، قولهم متشابه ورؤيتهم لحال الامة العربية متقارب،
ولكن السخرية والحس الفكاهى أعلى عند مطر .

The ending was good,I expected more, but I am thankful it wasn't disastrous. Now the next one to read will be 20th Century Boys.

I only enjoyed the story of Eliza and Richard Holstrom.

من مقالاته وبعض قصائده، تتعرف على كم كان جبران محبا للناس عموما وللعرب خاصة.
وكتابته بالنسبة لى سهلة قراءتها بمعنى أنه لو كانت مقالة غير مثيرة لإهتمامى لأستطعت تكملته للنهاية

إلى جانب حكاوي شلبى الممتعة فإنتقاله وبسلاسة من العامية للفصحى كانت من أسباب استمتاعى بـ قراءة الوتد
وفوق ذلك استفاض فى سرد القصص غير مكترث بعدد الصفحات القليلة بين يديه

Kurosawa tells about his memories as child till his earliest years as a filmmaker.
The appendix “Some Random Notes on Filmmaking” was the cherry on top.

The two children books “The Man with the Big Eyes, The Man with the Big mouth” and “The God of Peace” were good stories. They contained sadness and fear, that grew into Nina and Johan.

Recently my appetite for dystopian/sci-fi was big. I read some good comics but eeh, didn't decrease the hunger or fulfill the need. An intensive dose was what I needed. And this has absolutely done the job.

The long stories in the last third of the book made me like it more. I wish there will be more of it in the next scribbles.

Halfway through the series already, and I found this volume the best of the best. It's a gift to everyone who loved and enjoyed the series from the beginning. Urasawa knows how to tell stories. Hope the rest will be never less.

A good start

I like this part a bit more, as it was more interesting than the previous one. It deals with the consequences of the war and shows the state of the people through it. I find it exhausting read because it shifted from a adventurous type to one that's about surviving.

Another thing I found interesting is the theme of the story ‘Nature of justice', the same theme was adapted later on by Oda for the navy in One Piece to justify their drive to hunt down the pirates at any cost.

“They buy things ready-made at the shops. But since there are no shop where you can buy friends, people no longer have friends”

Fantastisk! Det var ett nöje att läsa den.

Helt enkelt en av de bästa romanerna jag läst

Before this I've read “Every Thing on It “ and “Where the Sidewalk Ends” and I Could only say about this as the Peckin' said “Things ain't as sweet as they used to be”
