Holly pretty much woke up and said let's write the most messed up thriller of all time, huh? When you think you have the answers they turn out to be way more twisted than you could EVER imagine. You can't even trust the main character's thoughts, because she's just as messed up, but...i'm not mad about it. Reading this, I even started to get paranoid with the main character, i was getting chills with every little detail she was catching and every single lie. In fact, I even AGREED with her on things in real life i would certainly NOT do. This scream lights, camera, BIG secrets EVERYWHERE, DONT TRUST ANYONE. This might even be better that A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, it gave me all the feelings of that series in one perfect book.
This is just a breath of fresh air wow. This book GOSH so beautifully thought with everything about Val's life, i don't know how to explain the feeling of relatability i felt with her. The little fantasy element it had was just so unique, the romance was very believable that i felt for this characters a warmth i've NEVER felt before. The story has the best pacing i've experienced with any graphic novel, i've never felt things were going too fast, this was just simply perfect. The art style WOW there's no words on how beautiful it is. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT ITS PERFECT, NEW FAVORITE.
Excuse me, sir? I need to sign up for chess lessons NOW. The way this had me so invested in chess that I was biting my nails OFF for Mallory and Nolan. Nolan just cared so much for Mallory that he had me on my KNESS. I don't want I NEED a tall, smart brunette who's good at chess in my life. What? is not that hard. Don't think because this is Ali Hazelwood's first young adult romance novel is going to be less than her other books. NOT AT ALL. This is just as good (I could even say way better!)
