I was originally going to write something here about my desire to be an anthropologist and my competing desire to respect other people's cultures, but that ending...I can't stop thinking about it

I've made progress on reading this in five states, three countries, and two continents and I think that's pretty cool.

4.5
i did not expect politics to be so...interesting

I started this on the audiobook version and soon remember why I don't listen to audiobooks: I can't pay attention/get into them. I ended up checking out a physical copy from my library and it was great :) Stiefvater is definitely one of my favorite authors

Feels a bit too fictionalized to be truly nonfiction

comments I have recieved whilst reading this:
“that book is bigger than the bible” - my friend
“wooaahh” - fellow violist
“I could finish that in a week, easy” - book club member
silently hands me the Brothers Karamazov - my dad
“shiny, I love it” - classmate

why are they cousins. why did you make them 2nd cousins when they could NOT BE RELATED IN THE FIRST PLACE, Tamsyn? I have several questions

the section at Volition was just chef's kiss

hell yeah!!!!

Considering how I felt while reading this,, I think I have officially aged out of reading middle grade books. It is a solidly-written book, so I think I would have liked it when I was 7 or 8. (far past that age now lol)

had a lot of promise, but lacked character development and subtlety

this is good but I still can't figure out where the title came from

3.5, rounded up because I like sewing. First book of 2023!

not to be rude, but why do people like this again?

Muir is a god of prose. every line is perfect.

I've read this about 4 times but it never occurred to me that there's more books until today

I'll never look at spaghetti the same way again (ikykyk)
