If this was ONLY the main story itself, I probably would've given it 5 stars, but I wasn't a huge fan of all of the references to other stories. etc. I usually didn't understand how it related to the main plot (maybe i'm dumb but ??) and got just really out of it. I really loved her writing though and the main story she was trying to tell of abuse and sadness, it was really beautiful and heartbreaking.

Emily Henry is definitely a talented writer but I think sometimes it takes a little too long for her to get to the point. This book was filled with some very beautiful lines but honestly it could've been 100 pages shorter if it weren't for the back and forth lack of communication between, not only the main couple of the book, but also the entire friend group. Overall, I did enjoy the book and understand why people like it so much (it has some great overall messages) but it just wasn't as life-changing for me as it seems it was for most of the others who've read it.

It was a good book just not anything special. One thing that bothered me was how they would introduce a conflict and then tell the reader the outcome before even explaining what happened during it, like they killed any suspense that could've been there. Overall, I enjoyed it though, just wasn't super memorable tbh.

This felt like Catcher in the Rye mixed with The Bell Jar plus a sprinkle of Lady Bird. In so many instances I felt like I could connect with the main character (especially with where I am currently in life) and I think that's why I liked it so much. I can understand why people might not like it considering there's not much action or real plot going on but since I felt personally connected to it, I enjoyed it a lot.
Look, i'm sure there's some grand deeper meaning when it comes to the plays they perform and reference but i'm just really not into Shakespeare so that fell flat for me. And i know the characters are actors but they are SO dramatic for no reason and pretentious. Also Oliver is just a simp and no real person would've done what he did in the end. This book really just dragged on and it felt like they kept building up to nothing.
